The ROY for this season is up for grabs. There are a ton of players making a run for it as the season comes to an end. Colston has been stellar the entire season, but his injuries could comeback to haunt him come award time. Jones-Drew has played like an animal in the past few weeks and is emerging as the future of Jacksonville. Vince Young has led his team to an incredible three comeback wins against the Giants, Colts, and the Texans. To throw another player into the mix, Reggie Bush is putting up some insane numbers as well. In my opinion, the award deserves to go to Colston. What are your opinions.

i voted for colston, but partially because i love him. he's been nasty all year, but it's hard to ignore what vince young's been doing. those two are neck and neck, in my opinion. bush and drew are a couple steps behind, don't let a big last couple weeks fool you.

Bush isn't behind him in the receptions category. My vote goes to Young. The Titans were an attrocious team and he has them winning games.

Bush is going to end up with close to 1500 total yards (probably 100 receptions), and close to double digit TD's. Not much "fooling" with those numbers.

I have to agree with this. I can't believe how much the Titans have improved with Young. I'm impressed.

Matt Leinart played another big game today. After setting the rookie record for passing yards in a game two weeks ago, he comes out and has a big game and beats 8-5 Seattle, stringing together two wins in a row for only the second time in the Denny Green era. Having this conversation without him in it is silly.

Not that different from Leinart. In his first start he put them in position to beat the "unbeatable" Bears, he's put them in a position to win several other games, and he's won the rest. He's not as sexy a choice as Young because he isn't as athletic, but he's every bit the player.

what about his 200 yard games? Warner threw for 300 everytime in that O didn't he?

What's the point? Any time subject at hand includes both Vince and Leinart...well we know who will come out on top.

Well, except that Young actually DID take down the Colts - and theuy beat the Giants. How many teams with winning records has Leinert's team beat?

And the fact that he's "put them in position" to win games as opposed to actually winning them.

Besides the 100 recptions, MJD already has those numbers. He already has 1,000 from scimage, he'll very likely go over 2,000 total yards and already has 12 TDs.

Announcers were all over Mangold today

If Ryans is up there Sims should be

IMO Kiwi makes a big play every week he starts(or all but starts in Coughlin's dopey starting format) 3 sacks 2 INTs a one FF. Name another DE with 2 INTs. I don't think he's ROY but he makes me not want to consider Mario

Leinart was put in a great situation with Fitz+Boldin+Edge. I don't like rewarding him for that

:goodposting: If Bush wins it's rigged.

To Otis, his first start was actually against the Chiefs, and he put the Cards in position to beat them as well.In both of those games, Leinart effectively led the team down the field in the final minutes and set Rackers up for potential game winning (or tying) FGs. There's nothing more that he could have done. I think in both cases they could have run more offensive plays and made the FG more manageable, but Green took the ball out of his hands and left it to Rackers.

Addai has more yards from scrimage and Bush is handful shy of 1000.

I think it's wide open and just a matter of jubjectivity.

Somebody mentioned Nick Mangold playing at Center in NY, and anchoring a line that has two rookies on it, and taking a team many called the worst in the league, and getting them on the playoffs doorstep, is great. He doesn't put of the flashy stats, but he's been the most impactful rookie I've seen this year. Playing center is far more difficult than RB, or WR, probably the only position more difficult is QB, and he's been great. Their line play is a huge reason they're where they're at, and much of that goes to the center. He likely wont win, because most sports writers don't know jack about the sport, but he deserves to be in the conversation.

It is up for grabs if you ask me. Many rookies had great seasons. I think Colston would have the edge, had he not gotten hurt. Bush had the early lead, just on hype, and that's a lot to overcome. If he was merely average, he would have won. That said, I think he probably wins, though I think he's at best 3-4 in deserving the award. Somebody mentioned Leinart should be rewarded for his situation. Does that apply to Bush and that offense w/ Brees/ Horn / Deuce / Colston?

Matt Leinart and Vince Young have very similar statistics (crummy). I like what they are both doing for their respective teams, and they are only going to get better, but I am leaning towards Drew, myself. This guy is doing it all this year and with a limited amount of touches - imagine what he would be doing with twice as many touches. Bush is something special to watch, also; I was firmly in the anti-Bush camp early in the year, simply because of all of the hype he was getting, but after watching him play (especially the last two games) I am beginning to appreciate what the guy can do. Even missing 2 games, I would place Colston ahead of both Leinart and Young.

:goodposting:I'm not sure how to reconcile skill positions against a rookie center, but it definitely seems that Mangold should be in the discussion.I agree that Colston may have locked it up if he didn't get hurt, since he was on pace for possibly the best rookie WR season ever. However, he did get hurt, and the Saints have rolled on without him. I think Bush has moved ahead of him on his own team.I think Mangold, Colston, Bush, Addai, Jones-Drew, Young, Leinart, and possibly Marcus McNeil all have a shot at OROY. That said, given the number of candidates, I really think the winner will probably come from a playoff team. That would eliminate Leinart and probably Young, and could eliminate Mangold. From an impact standpoint, I'd give Jones-Drew, Young, Mangold, and possibly McNeil an edge over the others. Combining the two criteria (impact and likely playoff team) leaves Jones-Drew and McNeil, but given the media and voter bias towards skill positions, I'd say Jones-Drew is the leader at this point.A lot can change in 3 more weeks, however. Anyone know when the vote is actually taken? Is this one of those awards for which ballots are submitted before the season is over?

Ryans or Drew, but I would have to go with Drew if I had a gun to my head...

P.S. If Colston didn't get hurt, it may very well have been him.

With the way Young is single handedly winning games I don't know how he can't win at this point. It's not a game here or there, it's week after week. They were 0-5 and now in the playoff hunt. Pretty unreal.

If Bush can keep his torrid pace, I think he might pass everyone by. If Colsten can get healthy and get back to his "normal" numbers he has a good shot at it... Young is a VERY good condidate considering his surrounding cast, but I just dont think he has the fanfare like Bush does right now... or maybe he does I dont know.

Matt leinart should be in the same breath as these guys. He has played EXCELLENT so far IMO.

I think Young has the inside track at the moment.

Winning games -- and winning games dramatically -- is going to make a big impression on the voters.

I voted for MJD but have to apologize to all the Young supporters as they may be correct about this guy he does seem to make things happen.

This will come down to the last games of the season. It will be close between Young, Bush, Colston, Jones-Drew for offensive ROY. I say if Fred Taylor is banged up and Jones-Drew gets more touches the final 3 games he will win it. He is 5th in the NFL in kickoff return average has accounted for 12TD's while splitting time with Fred Taylor and has been a gamebreaker in some of those wins. I can make a case for Vince Young as well and Colston too.

Addai 213 touches 1126 APY 8 TD'sBush 227 touches 1288 APY 7 TD'sMJD 169 touches 1700 APY 12 TD'sMaroney 200 touches 1586 APY 5 TD'sIf we are going to compare numbers, here is a more complete look. With MJD getting limited touches from scrimmage, I feel including KR yardage is a better way to compare these outstanding rookie RB's.I think you can make a case for any of them (sorry to discount Colston, but he missed all or significant parts of 4 games and was not a factor last night). It is very difficult to compare QB's and OL guys to RB's. Young has been amazing lately, but so have Bush and MJD. It is between those three to me.I voted MJD. Doin' the most with the least touches(and height-NTTAWWT).

I can't imagine a tougher battle for the offensive award. Five weeks ago, I was sure Colston was running away with it. I hate to punish him for getting injured, but what Bush, MJD, Addai and Young have done since Colston went down has been unreal. None of them are playing like rookies.

But I don't think anyone has done more with less than Young. It's a great story for the league—a player and a team that a lot of people discounted going into the season coming out and winning games in dramatic fashion. (The same could be said for the Saints, but Colston going down really hurt his chances. Bush has a better shot now, IMO.)

I also have Travis Henry as the frontrunner for comeback player of the year.

AJ Hawk deserves consideration. Hehas started since the 1st game with the Packers and he has been an impact defensive player. He has a strong case:

74.0 Tackles

34 Assists

3.5 Sacks

2 Fumble Recoveries

1 Interception

The rest really aren't close.

Vince Young is single handedly taking over games. I don't see any of the others doing that.

I do think it is very close between these 4 and any of them could win. I wouldn't be surprised to see Bush win with the hype machine that is the NFL and ESPN.

Leinart is better than VY.
this is really bad schtick.
It's the truth. This reminds me of the Michael Vick hysteria.Leinart reminds me of a more athletic Peyton Manning, except he's actually better than Peyton was his rookie year.Remember I told you so...actually I've been saying this since the birth of christ.

In my opinion these are your three guys. No disrespect to Jones-Drew, Addai or Colston but it just isn't going to happen. I would love to go with Bush here since I have allittle bit of  for him and he has a great year. He has made his team much better. #'s don't tell you everything, he has converted many 3rd down and taken alot of pressure off of other offensive players. However, after saying this Young has been great and I think it would be a shame not to give him the award he has earned. I do think Bush will be the best player out of this class but Young has earned Rookie of the year.

No love for Devin Hester? Here are his stats:

Punt Returns:

35/497 yds/14.2 ave./84 yds longest/3 TDs

Leads the NFL (not rookies) in Punt Returns. Next highest average is 12.7.

Kick Returns:

6/126 yds/21.0 average/27 yds longest/0 TDs

Missed field goal returns:

1/108 yds/1 TD

Tied NFL record for longest TD.

I know its not a sexy pick but Nick Mangold has had a fantastic year at one of the hardest positions to play as a rookie.
