Roy Williams vs Calvin Johnson (1 Viewer)

RW and CJ are both highly talented WRs..... I am wondering when if ever CJ takes on the main WR role (Like Holt did from Bruce)

I personally think that this year is the last year RW is the go to guy, do you agree or disagree...why?

I would also love to see input from FBG experts who rank RW ahead of CJ for Dynasty purposes.

CJ can take over for as the #1 at the point in time when he is able to get open more than Roy which may prove tough to do. People are forgetting that Roy is a top ten WR already and just entering his prime years. It's not like Moss and Carter or even Holt and Bruce. It's more like Fitz and Boldin. 1a and 1b.

:hophead:

I think Calvin will pass Roy only if Roy gets a season ending injury at or before mid-season. They would then have to move Calvin into Roy's position full time and have a basis for comparison, and also force a playoff for the #1 spot at the following year's training camp. It also could happen if one player holds out for more money.

I see it being exatly like Fitz and Boldin, with Calvin being Boldin and Roy being Fitz, but I think Kitna is better than Leinart.

Others have hit it. Fitz/Boldin Part II. I don't really care who's 1 or 2. I'd still take them both in the Top 10 WR's in any dynasty league.

Fitz/Bolden is a pretty good comparison. You're looking at a WR1A/WR1B situation in the future with both guys helping each other in respect to drawing coverage. In the end one might rise above the other but I don't think it will be by a large margin.

I think it's just a matter of time. Calvin is an athletic freak, and also a football player. His insane skills tell me it's more like when, rather than if. I think sometime in 2008 is definitely possible.

ROY is a freak too. Calvin cool-aid must be spiked with something.

Roy is great in his own right, but he is not near the athletic freak that Calvin is. I saw him rise above 2 defenders to snag a pass last week. With his size, speed, strength, long arms and freakish leaping ability, he will be downright impossible to cover, especially in the red zone. He can simply get a lot higher than anyone. And yes, I am a kool-aid drinker, with reason.

I've seen ROY do this several times in his successful 3 year career. In real games.Sure he can. Much like his scouting report though, he does not time jumps well or use his body for positioning well at this stage of his career.

And yet, CJ will be much more sought after, like Fitzgerald. Sure CJ is a freak, but I think a lot of his perceived value is the unknown. Rookies are almost always overvalued.

Calvin Johnson is an athletic freak and IMO the best WR to come out of college in years. That said, I think you have a short-term memory regarding Roy Williams. The dude held the Texas high school long jump and triple jump records for years. He's quite an athletic freak in his own right.

In the end does it really matter? I think the better comparison would be to Harrison/Wayne.

Do you really care which one you might get? Both sets if players will put up great numbers either from being on the receiving end from manning, or playing in the Martz offense (and with their talent of course).

If you get either, be happy!

People forget the Lions also added Marcus Robinson..could you imagine the matchup problems around the goal line with RW,CJ and Robinson?
