What are thoughts on Roy Williams now that Dez Bryant is out. Philly has been giving it up in the air of late in what could be a shootout. Always scary starting Roy in the first week of the playoffs, but the upside might be too hard to pass up.
In all the games Kitna has started he has never gone through his progression fully. He either does not have time or he just sticks with the first two options. Kitna's progression usually goes in this order - Austin, Witten, Felix Jones then Roy Williams. I notice that usually after the first two options he will just tuck it and run. You can't count on Roy Williams to be consistent even after Bryant's injury. They do use Roy in the redzone. Makes him a high risk medium reward player.
Eagles' pass D has been dreadful recently, so Williams is worth playing if your other options are marginal, but I think Witten is the one who will really benefit.
I thought Roy actually looked good against NO, then regressed against IND (but they didn't throw much). I agree that Witten has clearly been the hottest Cowboy pass catcher lately and looks like the strongest relative play. Given the circumstances which are- Philly will score a lot of points- DAL will have to throw a lot, Austin will draw primary coverage (Samual), and Bryant is out, I think Roy is in the low end WR2 range and clearly playable. The O/U of 51 for this game is considerably higher than any other game this week.
The Eagles pass D was so atrocious against Kenny Britt several weeks back that it caught a lot of people's attention. Since that point, they've had more injuries, player cuts and ...the situation has not improved one bit. Those kind of matchup notes are fantasy gold if you can luck into them. So many WRs have done well ever since.
Start Roy? I'd trade for Cowboys if I could.
And any fear of a close scoring inter-division matchup....the Cowboys have allowed around 30 points (or more) wayyyy too many times this year. I don't think their CBs can cover the Eagles WRs and this sooo has the makings of a shootout IMO.
I also like Roy with Bryant out. It's not like Austin has been setting the world on fire as defenses have seemingly started to adjust to him. The continued attention on him, however, may result in some opportunities for Roy.
