Rueben Droughns (1 Viewer)

This dude has been killing me all year.

From everything I've seen of NYJ, they fully deserve their fifth-best rushing matchup for opposing teams.

They are followed only by CLE TB IND and TEN.

Can Droughns finally do something? He went for 100+ one week and has sucked a big one every other week.

any predictions?

Anyone starting him? Sitting him for someone else in your flex, etc.?

Im starting him this week with R.Brown on a bye. Im expecting 60 yds rushing and hope for a goaline TD. The only thing he has going for him is that he gets all the touches .

NY Jets run defense (#s below are cumulative of all rushing stats in the game including back ups etc):

Week 1: 25 carries, 86 yds, 2 TDs - 20 FPs (assume 10 yds/1 pt; no decimal scoring)

Week 2: 39 carries, 147 yds, 2 TDs - 26 FPs

Week 3: 31 carries, 169 yds, 1 TD - 22 FPs

Week 4: 36 carries, 160 yds, 3 TDs - 34 FPs

Week 5: 39 carries, 181 yds, 3 TDs - 36 FPs

Week 6: 29 carries, 129 yds, 1 TD - 18 FPs

Week 7: 22 carries, 125 yds, 0 TD - 12 FPs

So, basically, teams are averaging 24 fantasy points rushing against the Jets. Why would you not start Droughns considering he rarely shares any carries with anyone?

Start him with confidence....then trade him after this week to any desperate RB needy owner :D

great analysis.

Don't be fooled by the zero TDs in week 7. Kevin Jones actually caught a pass out of the backfield and took it in for a score to go along with his 57 receiving yards.

Bottom line.. play any RB against the Jets :banned:

True, good point. I did not even mention the RB catch stats in my analysis. Considering Droughns does catch at least 3 passes a game, you HAVE to start him in a PPR league against the Jets this week. He will be gold this weekend. Do not sleep on him this weekend. Period.

Would you start Droughns over Leon Washington this week?
Absolutely. Droughns will get the goal line carries. And the Jets have made Addai, Rhodes (both in one game), Fred Taylor, Chris Brown (16 carries, 64 yds, 4 YPC) all look like great RBs this year. Willis McGahee had his 150 yd game against them. Dillon looked revitalized against them. What is not to like. This is a non-discussion. I am starting Droughns over Derrick Mason and Jamal Lewis at the WR/RB slot.

Droughns seems like a pretty good start this week. at least as good as it's going to get for him this year.

I'm hoping he will put up some yards at least. I need him to fill in for Kevin Jones. Droughns never gets in to the endzone though, so I'm not expecting much.

Droughns is putting me in an interesting position this week, although a good position to have. I'm of the opinion that any RB going against the Jets is a must-start, but that means either benching SJax (@SD), Tatum (Ind), or Westbrook (Jax). I would like to get something out of my 3rd round pick at some point this season though, and this seems the week to do it.

Barring either Westbrook or Bell having a setback due to their injuries, I'm not sure if Droughns is going to see the field for me. My strongest possibility is benching SJax against SD and going with Droughns. I probably won't be sure what I'm going to do until 12:45 on Sunday.

That makes me feel better anyway. I've been on the fence on whether I should play Droughns over Dunn or TJones this week... but I'd never start him over SJax or Bell. I'm actually close to waiving his non-performing butt, as I'm very deep with mediocre RB's and a couple of guys with high upside and I need to pick up a TE to cover for Cooley this week.

yup--it was a shovel pass so basically a running play at the goal line

Dropped him for Lundy.
 Me Too, Actually drafted Lundy and then ended up dropping him and after his performance last week I didn't want to lose out on him after I drafted him in the 1st place so I had to get him. :banned: to Lundy

I would give Droughns the benefit of the doubt this week and start him. I'm a Cleveland homer and a Droughns owner in one of my leagues and will start him this week (over Cotchery in the flex, so not a tough decision). The Jets run defense is awful (like Cleveland's) and I'm willing to see if the firing of the Browns offensive coordinator (Maurice Carthon) will light a fire under the offense. It's been reported that players on the offensive line say that they were confused with Carthon's offense and play selection. The new coordinator is the offensive line coach, so I'm hoping to see some better plays/production this week, particularly from the running game.

That being said, if Droughns does not put up numbers this week, drop his sorry ### on the waiver wire. The Browns schedule from here on out is absolute and complete murder (SD, ATL, PIT, CIN, KC, PIT, BAL) until the last 2 weeks of the season (TB, HOU). If Droughns doesn't put up numbers this week against a poor defense and with a new guy running the offense, he's done for the year.
