Rumor: Cutler out for year (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
According to 950 The Fan, they are quoting Cecil Lammey of Footballguys that Cutler is out for the year.

I find this reporting slightly odd. Culter was back walking around on the sidelines in the 4th quarter.

That doesn't mean he couldn't have a hairline fracture or something similar that causes the Broncos to shut him down for the year. I'll be tuning in to the Broncos a lot this week to see what comes out of there.

What's being reported in the media is that x-rays in the locker room yesterday were negative, so there are no broken bones, but he's supposed to have an MRI to see if there is any other damage (besides the contusion).

From Rocky Mountain News:

..."It hurts now," Cutler said. "It hurts to put weight on it. It hurts to run."

X-rays were negative, which could rule out a broken leg — or not.

"Actually, I'm happy it's not broken," Cutler said when asked whether the initial diagnosis was comforting. "But there could be a hairline (fracture) in there. We'll have to see. Hopefully, it's just a bruise and I'll be able to go next week."...

Kansas City in Arrowhead for my survivor pool pick? Bronco fan here, the glass is neither half full nor half empty, I think there's a couple of drops left in the glass.

IF this is true, then I have a complaint.Aren't we, as paying members of this site, supposed to get this kind of info first. It is a little disheartening to read a an update in the Shark Pool that, I feel, probably should have been received in my inbox before being reported on the radio. I am not trying to stir the pot so if I am wrong here then I apologize in advance.

Yes, and if Lammey is being credited as the source, why is no one from FBG here to confirm or deny its authenticity? It's seems a bit odd.

If confirmed, get WHATEVER you can for Scheffler. :wall:
...and buy low on Brandon Marshall. He seems to be Ramsey's favorite target.
Marshall is probably his favorite target, but that's not too comforting if you saw Ramsey's pass to him on the slant route in the endzone. Easy TD if that is on the money, but he wasn't even close. Could be a timing thing that will be worked out with more practice with the first team offense.

It's not like Denver has many starters left to pick from. The big question is, since Denver only had 2 starting QBs on the roster yesterday, who's next in line to back up Ramsey if Cutler is done?

I read on another message board that the "source" of this rumor was a Cecil Lammey podcast. I don't have audio on my PC, so haven't heard it myself.

Bradlee Van Pelt???
Can anyone else confirm that this was reported on the radio? Is anyone from FBG's going to chyme in here?
I checked the radio stations web site. No mention of it there. I'm not believing this rumor until there is a link verifying it.ETA: Also no mention of it on the radio station during the 15 minutes I was listening on the way to work.

That should be encouraging for Marshall owners. Ramsey will work with the 1st team from now on and perfect his hook-ups with Marshall.

I don't see how going from Cutler to Ramsey is a good thing for Marshall any way you slice it. Cutler is a lot better than Ramsey, no WR is better having a worse QB.

I agree. We got an in game e-mail from JB because Larry Johnson had an ugly looking injury but there was nothing concrete to report, just speculation but we have a FBG reporting Cutler out for the year and we get nothing?Care to comment JB?

On the topic - given the hypothesis that Cutler is gone for the year.... how bad will it get for Henry the next few weeks before his court date?

shouldn't you wait until it's confirmed to be true and then complain?

The MRI on Jay Cutler’s leg was negative, revealing no stress fracture of the fibula. Shanahan said that he is “a little sore,” and that he would see what the quarterback can do at Wednesday’s practice. “Right now he’s quite sore, and we’ll see how he feels on Wednesday.”

hey everyone

I'm getting ready to fly to Austin for another episode of the 5MD

I first mentioned this on the audible

Listeners heard that and called the station

The MRI came back negative so it looks as though the broncos initial reaction was wrong

there was concern initially that he had a hairline fracture

That is not the case

Will jump back in after i get home

Thanks, Cecil! After listening to the podcast last night about Cutler out for the year (based on your sources within the Bronco orgainzation) and the only WW QB with potential being Clemens, I rushed to drop Cutler and claimed Clemens before anyone else got hot on him. My only other QB in that league is Matt Schaub. Now I've got to hope no real good news gets out on CUTLER so that he completely clears waivers so that I can pick him up as a free agent.

Your podcasts have helped my teams tremendously since I started listening to them, but in this case relying on your insights may have backfired big time.
