Why would you pay what it is going to cost to get turner when there is a deep draft class? I wouldn't.By my count there are at least 4 teams that need a starting RB in the worst way:ARIATLCHIHOUSEAI don't think all of these teams will fill that need in the draft. Someone will want Turner to be their starter IMO. That's to mention teams like CIN, TEN, NYJ, OAK, and TB. I think he'd contend for the opening day job on all of those teams as well.
My opinion, Ryan's a borderline top 10 player and I have Henne ranked above Brohm. ATL drafting Ryan would be a mistake, KC drafting Brohm would be monumental. And, no, neither will last until round 2.Wow...could KC be going QB??? They have seemed so set on Long. Most scouts I have heard think QBs could fall down the board but here we now have ATL toying with Ryan and KC in love with Brohm. Anyone think they both last to top of Rd. 2?
Is Arizona really needing a RB in the worst way? Edge is not a gamebreaker but he's still starting material I thought.By my count there are at least 4 teams that need a starting RB in the worst way:ARIATLCHIHOUSEAI don't think all of these teams will fill that need in the draft. Why? Because Michael Turner is probably better than all of the RBs in the draft outside the first round guys. Even first round RB prospects only have something like a 60-70% success rate. The rate is about half that for 2nd and 3rd round guys. If you actually care about winning games and you don't want to use your first round pick on Jones, Mendenhall, or Stewart, it makes a lot of sense to fork over some cash and get Turner instead of playing the draft lottery. Why would you pay what it is going to cost to get turner when there is a deep draft class? Maybe I'm anticipating a bit here. But Edge is near the end of his career and there's nothing behind him. I agree, unless you have an abnormal amount of faith in JJ Arrington. This deep RB class is the perfect situation for them. There will be starter potential in the second and third rounds, they seem a lock to add one by the fourth round.Maybe I'm anticipating a bit here. If a team that needed a RB only to get over the hump I might agree. Someone like Seattle, for example. But teams like Arizona, Houston, and Atlanta need so many parts that it would make no sense to lock up money and cap room into a RB when there are good, cheap options available in the middle of the draft. Why? Disagree. Arizona and Houston could be in the playoffs next year. Coaches have their jobs on the line. They don't have the luxury of thinking long-term. Turner is one of the top 5 RBs available this offseason (including draft and free agency). Someone is going to sign him.If a team that needed a RB only to get over the hump I might agree. Given that his FA value appears lower than expected I wonder if this isn't a good time to trade for Turner in dynasty? Obviously he would not be worth a 1.1. or 1.2 rookie pick (or 1.3 IMO), but I wonder if getting him for a 1.4-1.6 pick is possible and if so, would be a good play? The Turner to PIT rumor isn't necessarily of huge significance, but it does reinforce my opinion that Parker is an overrated talent. I think he's a bigger risk to be replaced than his top 10 dynasty status would indicate. I've just never been that impressed with him. I think he's an average back in a great situation.I'll be watching Turner closely. Chicago and Arizona make a lot of sense for him. I still say he ends up on one of those teams when all is said and done. Remember, teams might try to lowball his agent and downplay their interest so they can get him cheap. For all the depth in this draft, Mendenhall and Stewart are the only 220+ pound bell cow runners. Teams who miss out on those guys probably won't be thrilled about the prospect of entering the season with Justin Forsett as their top runner. I think there will be a market for Turner. The other significant news here for me is about Chad Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald. It would have major FF implications if either of those guys were to be traded.
This is a great argument for why you need a GM and not a GM/HC. A GM has more time to win and so he can think longterm, which is what a team must do in assembling a roster.Disagree. I gotta agree with EBF here. There's gonna be a market for Turner. He's a good player and one of the best RBs available this year. Just not that many guys that can tote the rock 20+ times a game. They already fired Chow.Julius seems much more in the mold of White than Henry, JJ/CH would make a decent RBBC. If they wanted Bell more, I'd think Henry was the odd man out. They should give up on their RB scouts. If so, who are they giving up on? White? Henry already? Both?*Tennessee is hot for free agent wide reciever Bernard Berrian and recent cap cut tight Alge Crumpler....Tennessee is not really that hot for running back Tatum Bell, contrary to media reports. They are, however, talking to Julius Jones' folks...
Amazed to see only one comment on Chad from the peanut gallery - figured there'd be 20 threads based on the one-liner alone. Anyhow it answers I question that I had when I started another thread, which was if the Bengals would get cap relief if Chad paid back some of the signing bonus money. Obviously the answer is 'yes'. This is realistic, but it's also probable that Chad won't be willing to do that and thus will go nowhere (not that I really wanna see him go anyhow)..-QGI keep hearing that Mike Brown is willing to do something with Chad Johnson if Chad is willing to give back some bonus money pre trade
Depends on your league. He is as valuable as the 1.05, IMO. Probably better. He is not a stud, but he's not Troy Hambrick either. I think he can be another Rudi Johnson for the team that signs him.Given that his FA value appears lower than expected I wonder if this isn't a good time to trade for Turner in dynasty? Did I say he's a stud? I must've missed that. I think he's a solid back. He's excelled whenever given the opportunity. He was a star in college and he has the physical makeup of a workhorse RB. Virtually every source lists him as the top free agent RB on the market. If you choose to believe he isn't a starting caliber RB, that's fine by me. First, I didn't say no one would sign him. Of course someone will sign him. I'm saying he's going to have a hard time getting the money he wants because of all the cheap competition in the draft. Arizona is already cash strapped. To sign Turner they'll have to end up cutting someone. They're barely under the cap now if they even have gotten under it.Houston has much more pressing needs. CB is a huge need with Robinson hurt. Safety is still a big need. They don't have a pass rusher opposite Mario. The OL still needs work. They need to fix these holes before getting a franchise back at $20M guaranteed dollars in there. I'll guess we'll find out who signs Turner and if they give him the money he wants.Disagree. Correct me if im wrong but I thought Jack Ikegwuonu main strength was his speed.*Oregon quarterback Dennis Dixon and Wisconsin cornerback Jack Ikegwuonu both suffered devastating knee injuries, with the later injuring his MCL and ACL while training in Florida. Ikegwuonu's long speed was a big concern pre-injury, so if he makes it in this league it will be as a strong safety, even though he has no experience there....all signs point to Dixon making a clean and full recovery.

I thought it was funnyI read this a lot, and I wonder, do people say this every year, about a free agent at a position that is also deep in the draft? And are they wrong every year? I have never heard an agent say, "Well, gee, this years deep draft class really screwed us, everyone said they'd wait till April." There's $600 million in cap space this spring. Turner is gonna get his.The Scientist said:Why would you pay what it is going to cost to get turner when there is a deep draft class? *Michigan offensive tackle Jake Long's interviews have been as impressive as his workouts so far. Look for him to get folks in slots 1 to 4 thinking a bit more
*Most think the New York Giants victory will lead to a mad rush on defensive lineman early in the draft, but we hear the St. Louis Rams are very pleasantly surprised with what they have seen and what they've heard from Jake Long. The Kansas City Chiefs wont like that news.
*The best combine so far is between Jake Long and Purdue tight end Dustin Keller. And they've both really impressed with their interviews...
This sounds like Belichick*Michigan State's 2-way star (TE/DE) Kellen Davis' interview with a 3-4 team was interesting. He was asked defensive questions, even though he is grouped into the tight end group. Apparently this A.F.C. East franchise, which runs the 3-4 base defense, thinks his versatility is a key and they wanted to know if he would do some outside linebacker position workouts at his pro day since he wont be doing them here.
So, Hall could be dealt for a 1st, or for a DT worth a 4th?*Veteran defensive tackle Shaun Rogers is trade bait and many 4-3 teams are lining up. Jacksonville, Tennessee, Atlanta, Buffalo, and the New York Jets are all interested. Best offer so far is a 4th rounder.
*The other elite cornerback being shopped here is DeAngelo Hall and it appears there are now about 10 suitors for him. Talks between Atlanta and Detroit have heated up in a Rogers for Hall swap.

Shocked......seriously? They must have to sit through some really poor interviews.*Rutgers' offensive lineman Jeremy Zuttah's interviews have also been going very well. One A.F.C. North G.M. who interviewed him Friday night said he specifically asked him a question right at the beginning to throw this kid off. He questioned his ability to play tackle or guard at the next level and told him several reasons why he felt that way and asked him how he could overcome it to make himself a player? Zuttah, without hesitation, said that no offensive lineman in this draft plays with more effort and "want to" than him and that if this G.M. drafted him he'd work extremely hard to become a pro bowl center. His remarks shocked the G.M. and he went on to say it was one of the better interviews he has seen.
Yeah, I think ATL would have to get more in return.I do wonder about ROY for a 2nd round pick. He might be worth a low 2nd rounder as a lot of teams should see him as a one year rental. If he is the guy that can get a team over the top it might be worth it. Didn't know all this. NFL teams would have to be allowed to discuss an extension in that case. Not sure Dallas or Houston would be in the mix for him.He might be worth a low 2nd rounder as a lot of teams should see him as a one year rental. If he is the guy that can get a team over the top it might be worth it. From what I hear he flys down to Texas everytime he gets a day or two off. He has also made it very clear to his teammates that Texas is where his Heart is.Thanks for the info. The part that surprised me in particular was the 2nd round pick. Is that what the talk is in DET? He's only worth a 2nd rounder? The rumor is that once he becomes a FA he will jump ship to Dallas, Houston or NO in order to be closer to his family. No comments on this bit? Has this already been rumored?*The availability of wide receiver Roy Williams is also in hot debate with Jacksonville, Tennessee, Tampa Bay and New Orleans all interested.
