Russell Wilson’s Contract, Worst Ever! (1 Viewer)

5 yrs
$242,588,236.00
$50,000,000 Signing Bonus that went straight in his pocket all at once
$161,000,000 of the contract is guaranteed

$107M dead cap hit had he been released this season
Next year-2024 that number drops to a whopping $85M
In 2025 that number will again drop to a still whopping $50,000,000 in dead cap
The first real chance Denver has to get rid of Wilson is AFTER the 2025 season

They could restructure the contract but Wilson does not have to play ball so they can just cut him later, could force a trade to a desperate team.
How is this GM still employed? He should be in prison.
Agreed, not even fired. 10 years hard labor.

After a page, I’ll concede at this point 3 guys can be argued and 1 honorable mention.

Wilson, Watson, Ben Simmons

HM: Haynesworth

Initially after the trade popular opinion was Broncos were going to win their division and Seattle was going to be in the basement of the NFC west for an eternity. I keep saying to Vikings fans, life after Cousins might not be as bad as you Imagine.
Big difference, When Cousins walks away, Vikes are not going to receive:

QB help
TE help
DL help
2024 1st
2024 2nd
2024 5th
2025 1st
2025 2nd
Maybe the Atlanta Falcons are better example then. They parted ways with Matt Ryan for a 3rd round pick. Vikings will get a compensation pick for Cousins when he eventually signs a monster contract elsewhere. Translate all that QB cap savings and use it to sign Darrisaw, Jefferson and key free agents. They have to get off this treadmill.

Cousins is not going to all of sudden sign a franchise friendly deal. It is not his MO. He going to insist on guaranteed money and a no trade clause etc. I swear most Vikings fan want to re-sign Cousins just so they can trade him in his 2nd year. He holds cards and will do what is best for him. I just don't see all the dominoes falling in the right order for the Vikings to get to the Superbowl with Cousins and if they did it would be LA Rams style one and done victory because the cap burden would not be sustainable.
