Ryan Fitzpatrick (1 Viewer)

Did a search but didn't find much on this guy. His numbers look pretty good, but FBG doesn't seem too high on him in their Top 200 forward - QB 13. Can he be relied on now as a weekly starter?

You say that FBG doesn't seem to high on him, but out of the few that are just in front of him (Orton, Eli, Ryan, Vick) who would you put him ahead of for the rest of the year (not just this week). 13 actually seems really good to me, especially for a guy that everyone got off the waiver wire. Seems right to me but I would be interested in hearing if you think differently.

You know what, that was a pretty tough place to play - KC - last week and he came out ok, FF and NFL wise.

The Bills almost won that game, they scored only 10 points and Fitz still came away with a fair FF points total.

He's got yet another tough defense this week.

The thing that always gets me about the Bills passing game is the end of season weather. Having said that I've bought in on Steve Johnson and Lee Evans seems like a decent WR3 fill-in too.

I think he has some decent matchups from here on out and considering he did his damage early this season against some of the more respected defenses in the league, I believe it is safe to say that he is capable of putting up some great numbers.

He has won the respect of those in the locker room as well as his coaches. The only thing that scares me is Gailey's insistence on running almost exclusively out of the spread offense, which makes it very predictable. His failure to run the ball more resulted in zero possibility of running a play action or two to loosen up the defense and Fitzpatrick's numbers, although respectable, weren't that good until the end of the 4th and into OT.

Fitzpatrick can be a QB1 some weeks, but I don't think he has enough week-to-week consistency for that role. I have him in a platoon with Ryan & Stafford, though I'm sure to always pick the wrong guy to start.

Maybe I'm too high on him. In my format, which is pretty standard for QBs yardage-wise and 6 pts for passing TDs, he's ranked 9th overall year to date. That's with zeros in the first 2 weeks. If you take out weeks 1 & 2 for Fitz and everyone's bye weeks and just look at average FF pts per game, he's at 28.2, tied with Manning at #1 !!!I didn't get him off the WW for cheap. I'm actually looking at working a trade to acquire him and wanted to get a better feel for what his value is going forward.Seems he's in a good position fantasy-wise, as Buffalo should continue to be playing from behind a lot.

Pat Kirwan has been calling him a Rich Gannon clone, and I like the comparison. I see alot of the same similarities PK does.

Very smart, accurate, good enough arm strength, can take off an run with it.

I am happy starting him every week in a start 2qb league.

This is where the comparison ends. Fitzpatrick does remind me of Gannon in terms of mobility & intangibles, but he has below average accuracy, though he's been better in that regard this season. Gannon thrived in the West Coast offense due to his accuracy on short & midrange passes, Fitz would bomb miserably in a WCO.Gailey has done a great job with Fitzpatrick, and he fits the offense well enough that his positives outweigh the accuracy issues.

I got him in a dynasty and have only played him once so far, but his average ppg is actually #1 in my league.

Fitzpatrick - 111.9 over 5 games - 22.38 ppg

Rivers - 171.26 over 8 games - 21.41 ppg

Manning - 147.66 over 7 games - 21.1 ppg

I'm going to ask a question that's probably going to shift the focus, but here we go...

What are the chances that Fitzpatrick is the starting QB for Buffalo in 2011? It's almost always a foregone conclusion on draft sites that the Bills will draft Locker/Luck/Mallet/etc..., but Fitzpatrick seems to have played well.

Is this a case similar to Tyler Thigpen in KC a few years back where he put up very good fantasy numbers but had no shot of staying on as the starting QB? Or, is there a chance for him to carve out a permanent spot in Buffalo?

I think the chances are very good. If they draft a QB early, I still seeing that person learning for a year before they hand the reigns to him ala Carson Palmer learning under Jon Kitna.

Fitzpatrick is only 27 years old and he may have his best years ahead of him. Some people are saying that if he does well enough, the Bills may eliminate drafting a franchise QB all together. But if Luck is available, I don't see that happening.

There's a real chance Fitz is Buffalo's QB of the future.

The team has so many needs, they could literally be correct in drafting any position but RB or DB with their top-3 picks. If Fitz has a Pro Bowl type year, I think Buffalo will draft a pass rusher or OT in the first & possibly 2nd too.

I highly doubt Fitz will actually make the Pro Bowl over Manning/Rivers/Roethlisbreger/Brady, regardless of stats. But he may be an alternate if those guys are banged up or make the Superbowl.

It took Gannon quite a while to thrive in any offense. You said yourself Fitzpatrick's accuracy has been better this year. He is a young kid, still plenty of room to get better obviously.

I will say this, Buffalo will not be picking first. So that probably means Luck will not be an option, and I am not sure I see Mallet or Locker as top 3 worthy.

this guys is massively underrated for the rest of this year. he could be Billy Volek circa 2004.

Ah, Billy Volek. Won me a championship that year. Last year it was Jamaal Charles off the WW to sew it up. I'd rather be lucky than good!

When Romo went down I grabbed two Qb's off of waivers (Stafford and Fitzpatrick) I am very happy with that combo and I see a few weeks where Fitzpatrick will be a top scoring QB.

We'll see if he's matchup proof this week against Chicago D, they've been pretty stingy against QBs this year, top ranked I think.

With that said I'm considering starting him anyways over Freeman.
