Did a search but didn't find much on this guy. His numbers look pretty good, but FBG doesn't seem too high on him in their Top 200 forward - QB 13. Can he be relied on now as a weekly starter?
Maybe I'm too high on him. In my format, which is pretty standard for QBs yardage-wise and 6 pts for passing TDs, he's ranked 9th overall year to date. That's with zeros in the first 2 weeks. If you take out weeks 1 & 2 for Fitz and everyone's bye weeks and just look at average FF pts per game, he's at 28.2, tied with Manning at #1 !!!I didn't get him off the WW for cheap. I'm actually looking at working a trade to acquire him and wanted to get a better feel for what his value is going forward.Seems he's in a good position fantasy-wise, as Buffalo should continue to be playing from behind a lot.You say that FBG doesn't seem to high on him, but out of the few that are just in front of him (Orton, Eli, Ryan, Vick) who would you put him ahead of for the rest of the year (not just this week). 13 actually seems really good to me, especially for a guy that everyone got off the waiver wire. Seems right to me but I would be interested in hearing if you think differently.
Precisely the reason I got him with Aaron Rodgers on a bye.How do you feel about him week 10 at home vs. Detroit?Thing that always gets me, is he still is a Buffalo Bill.
This is where the comparison ends. Fitzpatrick does remind me of Gannon in terms of mobility & intangibles, but he has below average accuracy, though he's been better in that regard this season. Gannon thrived in the West Coast offense due to his accuracy on short & midrange passes, Fitz would bomb miserably in a WCO.Gailey has done a great job with Fitzpatrick, and he fits the offense well enough that his positives outweigh the accuracy issues.Pat Kirwan has been calling him a Rich Gannon clone, and I like the comparison. I see alot of the same similarities PK does.
Very smart, accurate, good enough arm strength, can take off an run with it.
It took Gannon quite a while to thrive in any offense. You said yourself Fitzpatrick's accuracy has been better this year. He is a young kid, still plenty of room to get better obviously. This is where the comparison ends. I will say this, Buffalo will not be picking first. So that probably means Luck will not be an option, and I am not sure I see Mallet or Locker as top 3 worthy.I think the chances are very good. If they draft a QB early, I still seeing that person learning for a year before they hand the reigns to him ala Carson Palmer learning under Jon Kitna. Fitzpatrick is only 27 years old and he may have his best years ahead of him. Some people are saying that if he does well enough, the Bills may eliminate drafting a franchise QB all together. But if Luck is available, I don't see that happening.
Ah, Billy Volek. Won me a championship that year. Last year it was Jamaal Charles off the WW to sew it up. I'd rather be lucky than good!joffer said:this guys is massively underrated for the rest of this year. he could be Billy Volek circa 2004.
Interesting. I am semi-platooning Fitzpatrick with Schaub and I was leaning toward Schaub this week, but Fitz does intrigue me.I like this guy this week against Minny...a lot.
I'm doing the same with Cutler.Interesting. I am semi-platooning Fitzpatrick with Schaub and I was leaning toward Schaub this week, but Fitz does intrigue me.I like this guy this week against Minny...a lot.
