The Bills are never on TV where I am, just wanting to hear from people who have actually had a chance to watch him play. Is he the real deal? Could he be an every week starter for teams that don't have a top tier QB, more of a QBBC type or just a good backup at this point? Obviously the Bills first two games were against sub par defenses so we should find out more this week.

 
Fitz is looking pretty good. He has a few errant balls get away from him once in a while, but he's making the right reads. O-line has looked surprisingly good. It doesn't hurt having Fred Jackson keeping D's honest.

 
Bills homer here. The main concern with the Bills offense has always been the o-line. Well, this year, the Bills are leading the league in rushing and have only surrendered 1 sack. Fitz got sacked last week, but it was negated by a roughing the passer penalty, but the o-line has pass protected well. There are a couple of reasons why:

Gailey, knowing that the o-line can be a weakness, has gameplanned accordingly. Not too many 5 or 7 step drops. Lots of 4 and 5 WR sets spreding the field. And Fitz's comp % on short passes has increased significantly from where he was last year. In addition, because of the success of the running game, it has set up the PA pass nicely, but not in the traditional sense. More PA misdirections with Fitz rolling out and setting up high percentage crossing routes.

I think Fitz is a definite hold right now. If you compare his last 15 games to that of Matt Ryan, he far outperforms him and is definitely undervalued. With a lot of members of the media predicting a shootout this Sunday, Fitz could put up big numbers again.

 
Bills fan here too. I said before the season that Fitz is a darkhorse candidate for 30 TDs, and so far that look like a good call. I doubt you can continue to expect Brady numbers on a weekly basis, but barring injury, Fitzpatrick looks like a lock for top-12 among QBs FF-wise. He's in the Schaub/Ryan/Big Ben tier right now and probably has slightly more upside than those guys, due to his system.

That's a hold to me.

Not necessarily. The Pats have given up 794 yards and 4 TDs through the air over the first two weeks. And they had injuries to both starting CBs and Patrick Chung this past week. Their secondary was already pretty shallow. McCourtey has been getting torched by bigger receivers which Buffalo has in abundance.And since the Bills have some major issues at CB as well, it wouldn't surprise me if there's 800+ yards passing in this game. It's probably going to be a total shootout.

 
I really feel like Fitzpatrick is their QB now, tomorrow, and next year too. Gailey has them off to a 2-0 start and I bet you can't name hardly 1 OL, 1 DL that starts for them. They have a very young and talented group of WRs, an improving big target at TE, a RB who is under appreciated in Fred Jackson, they are playing very well as a team. They didn't panic when they fell behind and in fact they seem to have the firepower to shoot their way out of situations. I am very impressed with what I see so far and I think folks should start taking the Bills seriously. They have been a bargain to scoop up over the last 12 months but the window to get these guys at a good price is fading as the cat is out of the bag.

I like Fitz a one of the better QB2 options. He has a chance to be a steady QB1 for owners but probably not elite. Buffalo is going to have some stinkers but I am excited to watch them play New England this week. Also don't be shy bout pulling the game thread the past couple weeks. Aaron-staff, Steve Tasker, GroveDiesel, there are many others I am forgetting but these guys have had good info and whether they knew it or not I have been using much of their insight to determine whether I want some of the Bills players in dynasty. Straight redraft I don't see how you can go wrong right now with Fitzpatrick, just maybe don't start him against the monster defenses but the Bills are going to continue to catch teams off guard. They erased a 21-3 lead at the half last week.

 
Fitz obviously isn't going to continue on this pace, but the guy is a perfectly serviceable NFL QB, and he's playing behind a line that I think has only allowed one sack so far (granted, the opposition has not been the 85 Bears). His coaching staff is confident in his abilities and will give him every opportunity to put the ball in the air. I wouldn't mind rolling with him as my regular fantasy starter.

 
I think I have to be the voice of reason here. I just traded for Fitzpatrick yesterday but this thread makes it sound like you all think he's headed for the Pro Bowl and a top 5 fantasy season. I see him finishing at around QB10. As it gets colder, windier and he faces some of the better teams, you will see some down games. Fitz started out blazing last year and cooled off down the stretch, I expect the same this season.

My advice would be hold for about 5 weeks then move him.

 
Thing is, if Fitz is top ten (and I'm not alone in thinking he is), you're better off rolling with him. If you owned a Roeth or Schaub, you could still get QB8 type value for him after two weeks. But no one is going to give you the true value of the Buffalo QB after two weeks. It's a perception/reality thing - doesn't matter what the reality is, his trade value is based on perception.

 
Bills homer here...

This passing offense is all Fitz and Gailey. The real thing people should be talking about is how much of a stud Fred Jackson is.

I would have Fitz as a High QB2. One thing I do want to mention though is that he is running a lot less than in previous years

I just can't believe he's still available in any leagues. He's the #5 scoring QB in one of my leagues and the #6 in the other. He's going up against the 30th ranked passing defense in New England. The 30th ranked defense that just had 3 DBs get injured in Week 2. Simply insane that he's still on any waiver wires.
 
Dropped Eli for him as my backup to Brees.

Not looking back either.

Fitz = 2010 Orton (hopefully without the dropoff late in the year)

 
Picked him up as my backup to Romo. Probably starting him this weekend as one shot could knock Romo out and his status could be up in the air.

Like fitz against that fluffy pats secondary.

 
10 Team shark league and he was on the wire.

I dropped Grossman who's playing well for a longer term Fitz.

Very nice matchup at home versus NE.

325 yds 3 tds would be nice LOL

 
I do worry about what would happen if Stevie goes down. We've already lost Easley and Parrish for the year and while Nelson makes for a nice slot receiver and its good to see the TE back in the offense again, this pass offense will only fly so long as they can keep Stevie and Fitz in one piece.

 
I think he's a solid low end QB1. He'll have 2 games against both the Jets and Pats and his schedule doesn't look real inviting, so I think the upside is somewhat limited. With that being said, if you waited on a QB, he's waiver wire gold. On par with Big Ben & Ryan.

Just as one example of his value, in my 12 team PPR QB/RB/RB/WR/WR/TE/FLEX league I just gave up Percy and Devery Henderson for him. Granted, I have Stevie Johnson, Dez Bryant, Tampa Mike, Percy, and Henderson, so I had some depth at the WR2-WR3 positions. I also am 0-2 and have only Big Ben at QB, so I needed to do something at QB. It was that or give up Dez and Tampa Mike for Cam, which I'm just not doing.I have a lot of faith in the Buffalo offense this season, even playing the Jets twice. Chan Gailey seems to have figured out a formula that works and has a line and skill position players, beyond just Stevie and Jackson, that can execute the plays. And playing the Pats twice is a GOOD thing, not a bad one. They've gotten shelled in the first two games.<edit> I should also say that the guy who has him considers yahoo projections as gospel and thinks he's worth more than he is, comparing his points with the points of receivers, etc. I'm just desperate and he was the only one I was able to get a top ten QB from without giving up any starters.

2 games is a very small sample size, but it's still 1/8th of the season. So with that caveat, here are the defensive pass rankings of the teams that the Bills have left on their schedule for 2011:31, 8, 6, 24, 17, 11, 16, 30, 11, 3, 15, 30, 9, 31That's not really that awful. The Jets will probably go up a bit so those 11s will go up. The Pats might go up some too, although I do think that their pass defense is pretty bad. I expect the Titans at 3 and the Bengals at 8 to drop. Overall, I just don't think that their passing schedule is that difficult. Certainly not as difficult as it was last year.

Did the exact same thing last week. I'm definately plugging Fitz in this week. Romo too risky - not only with the injury but with Austin out and Dez/Felix banged up. Fitz at home vs the Pats should produce points galore. I'm a little worried how Stevie Styles' groin injury may impact Fitz's numbers(Johnson will likely have to deal with the injury all year) but it seems he'll suck it up and play. Lots of other weapons on that offense as well, but I think Stevie draws a good amount of coverage. We'll see. I'm a hold on Fitz.
 
I'm a fitz owner and fan. I also admire the way the offense is designed to play to the players strengths.

The bears should take notes.

He is now in his 2nd year in the system, locked in as the starter, has a better offensive line, a solid running game to keep defenses honest, fairly quick as a scrambler, and will still play from behind a good bit. Buffalo may not be a playoff team but Fitz can be a solid starting fantasy QB as season.

The only thing working against him right now is his WRs health. If Stevie stays healthy I can see 30 total TDs.

Do I think he'll end up top 10? Probably not, but don't be surprised if he does!

I'm trying to buy him as a starter (long story short, I got burned at QB by waiting, 3 teams took their backup in the 7th round), but I'm having a tough time gauging his value right now.

I'd be interested in hearing about anyone who bought or sold Fitzpatrick recently.

 
After a disaster and a meh from Roethlisberger in the first two weeks, I'm giving him the starting reigns on my team. I think he's a hold because you can't get anything for him right now, and a buy because very few people probably think he'll keep this up. Get 'em!

I have the same two QBs on my dynasty team, but I'm going with Big Ben to demolish the Colts Sunday night . . .

the question is...can he be a top 10, from here on out? At this point what he's done in weeks 1 and 2 are irrelevant, I'm interested in what he will do weeks 3-16. I really doubt he throws 3+ TD's in every game, so it's safe to assume a slowdown is coming, no?

Full disclosure: I picked him up as a backup to Vick.But just look at the schedule. There are some questionable secondaries in there: NYG, MIA, NE, Dal. I don't know that I would want to start him every week, although I will if Vick goes down, but I do think this guy is going to be at worst Top 14, and more likely Top 10.
