Well, Ryan Grant should have another good week. But as they say, predicting that is yesterdays news. If you don't have him on your roster, he is likely no longer available.
However, everything still holds true for Grant that did last week, plus a few extra tidbits.
KC (at Arrowhead) - 26th ranked rush d - and they have some terrible linebackers (ok, one really good one, but the rest have blown chunks). Get past the line, you have a good chance of getting some decent 5+ yard carries
Outdoor game - Ryan Grants historical average is +1 yard on grass over turf
Stark's - pulled in 3 straight games, out last week, sat out practice Wed- there is no reason for the Packers to rush him back
Seine - not back yet, but it is thought he will be cleared for Thursday practice.
Kuhn's is still a potential fly in the ointment, however interestingly enough, the Packers pulled Grant and ran Kuhn's about the same time they pulled Rodgers in the 3rd quarter - to me that means the Pack think Grant has some value.
Whatever you think of Grant, the Packers continued to list him as their #1 RB, even when Starks was getting the most carries
Basically the same play as last week - if you are lucky enough to be in the playoffs and your starting RBs have gone the way of the dodo, Grant is a legitimate start - just don't think lighting will strike twice. Be happy with a single bolt. Say 80 yards and 1 td.
The real question is who is the benefactor of Jennings injury - with more than 19 packers getting td's this year, guessing which packer will pick up the slack is a crap shoot. Plus, if I predicted Jordy Nelson, so what - you have no chance of picking him up on the waiver wire - same goes for Finley. And if you own them, your starting them.
Good thing I don't think either of them will be pulling up the slack in the receiving game (THIS WEEK). Sure, they will get their catches - but who is going to get Jennings?
First, KC actually has a decent pass D - 10th best. The Brandon Twins actually are good DB's - they have held both Welker and Mike Wallace in check in the past several weeks. Unfortunately, they only have two good cover guys....lets see...one on Jordy, one on Finley, that leaves.....nobody of any skill to cover the rest of the receivers. And as KC typically plays man to man coverage, that is going to leave a number of above average packer receivers covered by a bunch of below average cover guys. Plus, as Rodgers throws to the open guy, some of Jordy's normal receptions are going to go to other receivers - I expect Jordy to have a below average game
Grant is a poor receiver, I don't think Starks or Seine will see any significant time if any, so that leaves them out. The other TE will get a few catches, but I have seen no indications that any of them are even good receivers in the NFL. So we have Cobb/Jones/Driver as options
I don't think Cobb will be the big beneficiary - he is to valuable on the return game so I still believe the Packers will limit his plays
Jones - capable of a big game, but, well, truth be hold, I have just never liked him that much. So I discount him. Sure, that kind of analysis sucks, but there you go. He could have a big game. But I just don't think so.
That leaves.... the Donald. Donald Driver. The old man. The receiver think is on his way out - this season his swan song as the young bucks rise to prominence Well, not so fast. Consider this .......
Donald still has it. Anyone who watched him in the last several games knows that he still is fast enough, and has better than average hands, even for the Packers, to actually hang with NFL DB's. Especially below average ones. 8 recpt and 2td in the past two games.
Donald has been on the field for more than 30 plays in each of the past four weeks - his playing time I believe actually has gone up as the season progressed.
Rodgers has gone to Driver in tight situations more often in the past four weeks than he has earlier in the season.
So - if your lucky enough to still be playing in FF, and your looking for a #3 WR to pick up the slack in a depleted roster - Driver is a player that may well be available. Lets call it 100 yards and a td against the Chiefs. If Driver has been picked up, Jones is likely not a bad chance either, I just think Driver will be the major benefactor.
Last, remember, the game still matters - technically it is possible for the Niners to overtake the Packers and get homefield advantage in the NFC championship game, so the Packers will be playing to win. So Rodgers plays at least three quarters, even if it is a blow out
Youse pays your money and youse takes your chances - but I like the chances of both Grant and Driver doing well this week.
