Tough with a 4 pm start being a GTD.

Are you playing him? If so, over who? If not, who are you playing instead of him?

Over Ridley but based on afternoon injury report of course. Atlanta outdoors l could see a high scoring game where each side's top guys have solid output.

If I had him, I would have trouble starting him. It would depend on who else I had, of course. Although experts said all week they expect him to play, they said the same thing about Gates last week.

Kevin Acee of the Union-Tribune San Diego suspects that Ryan Mathews (clavicle, questionable) will lose third-down snaps to Ronnie Brown in Mathews' Week 3 return.

Despite the questionable tag, Acee fully expects Mathews to play against the Falcons. Mathews' workload after missing six weeks of action is an immediate concern, however, and it doesn't sound as if he's likely to be an every-down player in his first game back. We'd still really struggle to sit Mathews in fantasy leagues. Atlanta has been shaky against the run, and there are no signs that Mathews will lose any early-down carries to Brown or Curtis Brinkley. For what it's worth, Mathews says he's "ready to play." Sep 21 - 4:23 PM

That seems ridiculous. He's fully practiced all week. His conditioning isn't an issue. He's their best pass catching back. The only potential issue I could see would be if they didn't want him pass blocking because of the potential direct impact on the shoulder. But if that's the case, they're being irresponsible having him out there at all.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on SportsCenter Sunday morning that Ryan Mathews (clavicle) is expected to play in Week 3 against the Falcons.

Schefter adds that San Diego may scale back Mathews' workload in his first game back after missing six and a half half weeks of action. He's unlikely to lose early-down work to uninspiring backups Curtis Brinkley or Ronnie Brown, but he could be replaced occasionally on third-downs. After watching Atlanta get gashed by Willis McGahee in Week 2, we still recommend keeping Mathews in your lineup.

I agree with you completely Grove. Acee is also the beat writer that missed on Gates last week IIRC. So, FWIW, I'm rolling him out there over Doug Martin.

He still has to get to the stadium AND get his uniform on without getting hurt. He's definitely a GTD for me.

Starting over Donald Browm, I think i'd be more unhappy if he has a good game on my bench vs. a weak game in my line up.

Rolling with him over Alfred Morris, as my flex.

I am able to designate Morris as Mathews' "back-up". If Mathews receives zero stats, I get Morris in my line up. I like this rule because it takes the sting out of starting a player who was expected to start but gets a last minute bench at gametime.

Right or wrong, all Matthews owners are starting him this week unless they have a legit RB1 option to replace him.

I know I am.

Starting Mathews over Fitzgerald. Figure as long as you have a replacement option if theres bad news from warmups you put him out there.
