Despite RT being Shanny's guy from the Denver days, KW beat him out for a roster spot.I agree. He's got as good a chance as Keiland to succeed if Portis goes down.
IF he could stay healthy...MAYBE he could contributeOk, this degenerated quicker than expected, so no one thinks that Torain has quite a bit of potential for a significant amount of carries at some point this year?
Yes he did. I stand by my original statement.Despite RT being Shanny's guy from the Denver days, KW beat him out for a roster spot.I agree. He's got as good a chance as Keiland to succeed if Portis goes down.
No LJ beat Torain out. But LJ is gone after running for -10.0 ypc. Keiland Williams is what he is. A 3rd down back. Shanny loves Torain and he will be the next TD!Despite RT being Shanny's guy from the Denver days, KW beat him out for a roster spot.I agree. people have short memories i guess....Denver BroncosThe Broncos selected Torain in the fifth round (148th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft. In early August, he fractured his elbow, missing three months.Torain made his NFL debut in a game against the Miami Dolphins, earning only one yard on three carries in a loss. He started his first NFL game on November 6, 2008 against the Cleveland Browns. After rushing for 68 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries, Torain hurt his knee as he was being tackled in the second quarter. He suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) was placed on season-ending injured reserve. He became the third running back to be out for the season for the Broncos, joining Michael Pittman, and Andre Hall.Torain was waived/injured by the Broncos on August 12, 2009 and subsequently reverted to injured reserve. He was released with an injury settlement on August 16. Washington RedskinsOn April 19, 2010, Torain was signed by the Washington Redskins. On September 4, 2010, Torain was released by the Washington Redskins. He is currently a member of the Washington Redskins practice squad. He's my new RB6. Had him as that the first time the hype train took a trip around the tracks. Very little risk there. No harm in that.

Uh... in reality neither, but Torrain probably has the fastest path to relevance as a starter - Aging/Ailing Portis and a rook in front of him. Stewart & DWill in front of Goodson. If you want a 2-4 points a week now Goodson. So who would you rather have going forward Ryan Torain, or Mike Goodson (CAR - RB)?
And we knew this the first time as well. Like I said flyer RB6, I didn't just trade CJ for him. Who cares what your RB6 does. If it ever really comes down that you are relying on your RB6 other than something fun for upside or as a handcuff your team is already in the ####ter.and hes an injury waiting to happen...but if you feel differently have at itAnd?people have short memories i guess....Denver BroncosThe Broncos selected Torain in the fifth round (148th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft. I must have missed something, are you talking about Ryan Torain?Anyway I actually think this is the guy to own. Not sure why people think shanahan would play a rookie who had 0 carries in the first 2 games over someone hes been using for years.
Shanny brought him with to sit on the bench and he is cheap against the salary capI think it's interesting that you point out he ran for 68 yards on 12 carries 5.6 YPC and a TD albeit against the Browns, you have to admit he has talent and Shanahan does like this guy he brought him to Washington for a reason.
Torain is a flier, no doubt. But a viable flier, esp in dynasty.Portis is likely gone at the end of the year (injuries, contract $$$ spike in 2011, career workload, likely regression into old attitude ways once the team is out of contention). LJ is gone. Parker is gone.Shanny liking Torain is well documented. He drafted RT, praised his abilities much, and RT would have been his starter in 2008 but for the season ending injury. RT is still just 24. We all know Shanny's history of using RBs without high pedigree. Portis has been his only highly drafted starter (2nd round) and was traded away. Later picks and FAs have been more the rule than the exception. Is Keiland Williams the future competition? It seems so. At 233 lbs he's not just a scat back 3rd down type. He's a bull and in the preseason was putting it into the end zone just fine. And he did beat out Torain to make the roster. But remember, RT was out for a year while KW was doing his thing all year in college. Maybe they just felt he wasn't quite ready yet. When RT was cut he was promptly signed to the practice squad right after the mandatory 24 hour waiver period and has been practicing with the team ever since. We don't know that KW will remain ahead of RT all season, only that at cut down time he was the choice. We also don't know that it will be between KW and RT if Portis goes down this year or leaves at the end of the year, but the odds IMO are good because of Shanny's disinterest in using high picks at RB. As I see it, entering Week 3, RT has a decent enough shot to be worth something at some point that he's worth a pickup. I added him in 9 leagues today, so I'm not just yapping and am putting my roster spot where my mouth is.Finally, those who continually cite injuries with RT are really still just regurgitating stuff from 2008. I don't buy into this concept of him being injury prone today. He's older, physically more mature, and IMO the whole idea that he's any more likely to be injured than any other RB is nonsense.
True i would not drop either of these to create a spot.I wish I had a roster spot for him. The only players I could drop are Amendola or my handfuff Slaton. Don't really want to.
What position is he now?WAS RB
No.I've been trying to decide for the last few hours if I should drop Golden Tate (Return yardage league) to pick him up it's like torture
Agreed. Tate will be a valuable player. Torain might be a player. Not the way to create room for a Torain type.No.I've been trying to decide for the last few hours if I should drop Golden Tate (Return yardage league) to pick him up it's like torture

Any other options, a 2nd defense or kicker ?Thanks for the advice guys.Agreed. Tate will be a valuable player. Torain might be a player. well we know he liked him enough to both draft him and bring him over onto his new team and keep him on his new teamI must have missed something, are you talking about Ryan Torain?Anyway I actually think this is the guy to own. Not sure why people think shanahan would play a rookie who had 0 carries in the first 2 games over someone hes been using for years. The same Ryan Torain who has FIFTEEN CAREER CARRIES in 2008? How exactly has Shanahan been "using him for years?"
Just because Shanahan made positive comments about this guy once, years ago, doesn't mean he is determined to see him succeed, and it definitely doesn't mean Torain will suddenly figure out how to stay healthy.

This is pretty much the truth.Neither of these guys has proven anything. If Portis goes down both will get carries. One of them may (may) do something.
Oh and Washington has a below average offensive line.
That's a small roster. Might be difficult to find a spot for him in that league.Haven't got a chance to see Williams play yet, does he pass the eyeball test? I know Torain looked like the best player on the field for a quarter and a half in that game against the Browns. Then again, it was the Browns. Thanks for any insight, trying to decide if he's worth a stash in a 12 team 15 roster spot league.
His value for shallow leagues is obviously very minimal at this point but in deep leagues, like 12 team leagues that start 3 running backs where pretty much every running backs backup is owned he is well worth a flier in that situation IMO.Didn't we all permanently swear off the week to week unpredicability of Skeletor RBs not very long ago? Torain and Williams look like exactly that situation developing to me, should Portis go down, or worse yet fade into RBBC territory. My leagues are shallow enough that if a RB doesn't have a fairly clear shot at starting if the main guy goes down or top ten talent potential I won't roster him. Add in that Torain has gotten hurt in the first game or two every time he's had a chance to play and I'll pass.
little physical risk. But I've ridden the Torrain Train. The emotional risk is what'll get you. He's my new RB6. Had him as that the first time the hype train took a trip around the tracks. Very little risk there. No harm in that.
