Ryan Torain (1 Viewer)

With BJGE's toe (and BB's secrecy with injuries) back to rolling with Torrain. Can't believe I got invovled with both a Shanny RB and Hoodie RB.
:lmao:Desperate times and all that.

Two weeks ago I was high on Gore until news of Hunter getting the start made me pull a 180 and pull Gore out of lineups. Nothing with the exception of an injury to Torain prior to kickoff and inactive status will have me pull Torain out, lesson learned. Plan is to go with Torain, all in, any leagues I have Hightower in he won't be going unless I am scrounging hard for minimal points. That's the plan and not going to think about it, Torain will be top 5 overall fantasy this week. Quote me. LOL (Will only be pulled up if Torain stinks it up).

If you have decent RB depth, your best bet is to start Torain for the next two weeks (his matchups against PHI and CAR are two of the best for a RB), and then deal him when his value is high.I can't imagine Torain not getting the majority of the carries going forward unless he gets injured......which the probability of that is high. Hightower has always been a mediocre back. WAS would be smart to run the ball a lot and keep the ball out of Grossman's turnover-prone hands. So WAS could run the ball 30 times a game, which gives Torain the opportunity for 18 or so carries and leaves Hightower and Helu in the mix for some action. Sure, Shanahan can change his mind at any moment, but Torain has always been a favorite of Shanahan. With Wells on bye, Torain goes into my lineup. I would predict 90-125 yds rushing and a TD this week.
Knowing Torain's history, I think the best bet is for him to play great this week and possibly next. Then, trade him straight up for a WR (if you need it) or package him with mid-tier QB and go for a top 5.That is the safe way to go. If you are stuggling with your team (risk/reward), then ride him until he breaks. If it doesn't pan out, I guess it really didn't matter anyways as your team was struggling. With 5 games into the FF season, you have to make your moves now to get ready for the playoffs.

The only quotes I've seen from Shanny are the "hot hand" BS. That would have to indicate Torain starts, and I've put him in my linuep over the likes of Bradshaw, Best, THT & Ridley. The league has bonus points for +5ypc and 100 yard games, so that factored into the decision, too.
i wouldn't start himover bradshaw or best.

Torain has proved when he is healthy and productive, he is the guy in Washington.

With that being said, he is healthey and productive, against the worst run defense in the history of football (not really)....I'm all aboard the Torain Train.

Philly gives up 140 ypg and hightower is banged up and limited in practice, so Torain will get most the carries.

I'm rolling McCoy and Torain, and believe Torain may out produce McCoy, oddly enough.
It's not that odd. Washington is the 6th best rush defense in the league and is only allowing 84.5 yards per game.

Plus he's been limited all week with a knee injury anyway. What gives?
I thought it was a shoulder?
Tim Hightower (knee) is listed as "questionable" after another limited practice on Friday.Hightower was limited all week, but all indications suggest he will be active on Sunday. One report has Hightower as the likely starter, though he could give way to Ryan Torain in a "hot hand" approach after just a few carries. Hightower will be a risk-reward RB2 play against the Eagles' 30th-ranked run defense.
who cares about his knee? How hot are his hands?

torain isnt very good but shannahan has to continue to prove he was right finding him as an ufa. shanny's all pride.

I know Torain's putting up pretty pathetic numbers but Grossman keeps killing drives with 4 ints...Torain's not looking THAT bad wheneverr he's been given a chance.

It's mostly Grossman's fault. They couldn't sustain any drives. He should have been benched much much sooner. Horrible coaching. Horrible QBing. Eagles played well defensively too.

Judgement will have to be delayed until he gets a full game w/o Mr. Inept at the helm. That was a horrible QB performance. Pretty sure he cost me week 6 with Torain and Moss filling in for Blount and AJ. I suppose I'm looking forward to seeing what Beck can do next week...

The Torain train has arrived! 22 yards of beastly studness. No way Hightower sees the field the rest of the year when Torain has monster games like this.

Yeah out of context you can say that. But when a QB throws 4 INTs and puts you behind by 20, should Torain perform like a beast?

It also didn't help that the right left side of the line and their best blocking TE were out of the game due to injury before the first quarter was over.

Not doing anything on 10 carries doesn't really prove much other than Grossman was atrocious. The couple positives for Torain are he's still healthy and Hightower didn't see the field. If you're holding your breath for Hightower regaining the job without a Torain injury then you'll probably suffocate.

He gets an incomplete. That was probably the worst quarterbacking in the league this year. Grossman was horrific, and Beck was simply, ummm, brutal.

What are the statuses of Williams and Cooley?

post interview Grossman couldnt understand why he was benched. and said we have to forget and move on.. bench this bum for the rest of the year then cut him

horrible play calling - defense sucked

all around bad game for the skins after coming off a bye

the wheels have come off the skins bus this is going to be a rough road ahead

Still will be starting him next week against Carolina.
:goodposting: They will lean heavy on the run, especially after the epic fail of letting Grossman handle the ball more than Torain. When is this copycat league of going to 2 runners gonna realize, to have a consistant running game you have to let your runners get into a groove. They should of just kept pounding away at the Eagles, it woulda gave way soon enough. But Shannahan is gawd awful and even trys to out coach himself.Down 20 or not, the defense kept them in it, why in the world would you let Rex throw that much?

They lost 2 O-linemen and Cooley, they prob weren't going to run anywhere. These guys aren't coming back this week vs CAR either.

ya I had him as a start this week, but now not so sure even though CAR is pretty bad against the run.

Unfortunately I may be there with you as Hillis and Best both got knocked out this week. I was hoping I never had to use Torain at least until the situation became more clear.
Took the upside down approach in a 14 teamer and my only other backs are ingram, stewart, and addai. Part of it's out of necessity, but I think I'd still start torain over guys like Starks and Greene....

Given Torain's lack of production last week, does he still get the bulk of carries this weekend. Shanny doesn't seem to have much patience for unproductive running backs, so I am fearful that we may see Hightower and Helu get more action this weekend. I don't think the qb change will impact his opportunities at all. Any insights?

I think the lack of production had more to do with the offense stalling repeatedly as a result of bad QB play and the loss of key players at OL and TE. Sadly, however, none of those things seem immediately fixable. If you're having to play any Redskin right now, it's with your fingers pinching your nose.

Interesting note from Rotoworld and I am willing to bet Shanny figured this out. Torain was not unproductive, the QB and line were..Ryan Torain gained 26 yards after contact in Sunday's loss to the Eagles. Torain finished with 10 carries for 22 yards, but he played better than that. The Eagles sold out to stop the run against a Redskins line that lost two starters mid-game, and the defense constantly hit Torain in the backfield.

Not to mention Grossman kept giving the ball to the other team. I'm willing to bet that Torain is the starter again this week.

Wow, that is a crazy stat. I wonder if Torain would be dirt cheap to acquire right now. I'd love to nab him for nothing if he's going to keep the starting gig.

What's their status now? If the line is decimated it won't matter who's QB for them.

Kory Lichtensteiger is out for the year and Trent Williams will probably miss a couple weeks.
