Ryquell “Rock” Armstead, RB Temple (1 Viewer)

Less morals, more Ryquell.

No, really, the grey area all fantasy footballers deal with came up with respect to the player. It's going to happen from time to time.

We oughta get back to concentrating on the talent of the player.

Sure sounds like you are wishing for an injury to Fournette. This is hinting around it without saying it, but you said it.

 No, you are just wrong.

I responded to a few guys in the "RB Lotto Ticket" thread on Armstead as well.      https://forums.footballguys.com/forum/topic/779034-2019-rb-lotto-ticket-rankings/?do=findComment&comment=22254093

I'm sure you haven't read that, but I even come out and say I actually own Fournette in 1 league, and I sent offers for him in 2 others.  The workload is just too good.  Now why would I want someone to get hurt, that I already own, and am trying to acquire in other spots?

Looks like you are just spinning my "handcuff with Armstead thoughts" with some type of personal reach. I said nothing of the sort that I wanted any injury.  But you are just wrong. In fact, I don't see anything positive AT ALL out of your post.  Its you concocting some narrative or "that I'm hinting around it without saying it" that I actually want someone injured, when it is not only 100% incorrect, it has no basis in reality whatsoever.   What good did that bring to the Shark pool?  Seriously.

I'm assuming you are "one of those guys" that comes to the board and #####es when your stud RBs get injured and you didn't protect yourself with the right handcuffs? I'm merely guessing, and I might be wrong.

Here's a hint, and I'm saying this outright.  Nobody wants Mark Walton's handcuff, (if he indeed turns out to be THE guy in Miami) and its likely not many would want Dion Lewis if Derrick Henry goes down.  The workload isn't there.

But Fournette, David Johnson, Alvin Kamara, Dalvin Cook.......... now there are a few I definitely want handcuffs of, and I'm stashing many on my benches, since the workload should be sizeable in the event of injury. Do I want those guys injured? No, in fact I own Kamara and DJ in spots. But you better believe I have the right cuffs, and I actually drafted Latavius Murray in 4/4 leagues, for reasons such as this.

You might not like it, but injuries are part of our game. Having the "right handcuffs" when those things happen, is part of being a smart owner, and predicting injuries (or better yet, the actual backfields we want pieces of in the event of injury ) is part of our game too.

But construct your teams how you want, and don't come here saying I want someone to get injured when its just not true.  Good luck.

Thank you for the response.  The laughing emoji kinda gave you away.

If you are a Fournette owner and don't have him cuffed right now with Armstead , then don't come back here #####ing if something happens to Fournette.  Oh yeah, Fournette,.......... does he have an injury history?????
To me, that reads as hoping for injury. Please dont hope for injuries, it does earn bad karma and isnt a good look. Good Luck.

The reality of real-life football and fantasy football is that injuries are a real part of the games.  I don't think there's anything illogical about being prepared for the outcome of an injury.
So only way to be prepared is to laugh about Fournette injuries? I mean he used emojies to laugh about them. Anything illogical about laughing at injuries with emojis?

If the Jaguars themselves roster a strong backup running back, is that a sign that they are wishing for an injury to Fournette?
Did the jaguars post to a message board using laughing emojis about their starters injury history? When you answer that, you have your answer.

As someone who just lost K. Johnson to injury, I just added this guy to my arsenal of lotto tickets...

...along w/ A. Mattison (nope, no Cook injury last night) and D. Henderson.

It's week 8. Fornette is about due.

Laughing = hoping?

Strange connection you're making there.

You are just reaching, and as far as I can see,  trying to stir up trouble or an issue where there aren't any.  You still don't get it.....and think I'm hoping for someone that I actually own and am actively trading for is someone I "want injured" because I posted an emoji.

Perhaps the mods, who have been cracking down on other guys for far less, will see this post and your responses for what they are. Baiting and looking for trouble where there is none.

Don't worry, there are many more people who actually have something positive to say here and post about  so you are now muted/blocked/ignored.

Late game inactives haven't been listed however it is expected that Fournette will not suit up for the late game.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

News: 4 hours ago Armstead is expected to serve as the Jaguars' starting running back Sunday against the Colts, the Associated Press reports.

Spin: With the Jaguars downgrading lead back Leonard Fournette (illness/neck) from questionable to doubtful Saturday and the running back acknowledging in a post on his personal Twitter account that he would be sidelined for the season finale, Armstead, a fifth-round rookie out of Temple, should be in line for his most extensive NFL work to date. Though Armstead has served as Fournette's primary backup throughout the season, the role has only translated to 25 carries for 75 yards (3.0 average) and nine receptions for 92 yards in 15 games. Undrafted rookie Devine Ozigbo and practice-squad callup Jeremy McNichols will provide depth behind Armstead in the backfield.

Agreed. I got him in the 7th round on Monday night even after the LF news.

Not bad for a starting RB.

I remember people high on him last year. I know very little about his history at temple.
I had Fournette in redraft last year and Armstead did enough to make me nervous. I think he gets first crack at the early down job and can do enough to be fantasy relevant.

I would pump the breaks a little on him being the starter. Word out of Jags camp is that Devine Ozigbo will get the early down work in week one. Armstead hasn't been in camp.

Is this dude even practicing?  That's why there's no talk.  First it was Covid.  Now what?  Does he have diarrhea?  A cold?  There's no specifics about why the guy isn't practicing.  He is blowing his opportunity.  I think it's going to be Ozigbo to start week 1.

That's... weird. Can you go on the COVID list with post-COVID symptoms like cardiac issues etc.? I'd be shocked if he had COVID twice in that short a time period.

I'm pretty sure you can be put on the COVID list for simply reporting that you've been in close contact with someone who tested positive. I think that was the case for many of the players placed on the COVID list so far, as the NFL reported only 10 positive cases among all players and personnel between Aug 21-29, but many more than that were on the list.

I wonder if his body still is suffering from getting COVID and isn’t quite 100%, I know he hasn’t been able to practice much since he returned.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing.  Plus I imagine putting him on the covid list means he won't count on the 53 cut down for tomorrow

Jaguars RB Ryquell Armstead (reserve/COVID-19) was expected to open the season in a backup role.

Armstead missed 18 days during his first COVID-19 stint. Even when healthy, it's looking like he's behind James Robinson and Devine Ozigbo. Armstead isn’t a lock to be active when he returns.

Wow I wiffed on this guy, anyone going for one of the others or best to move on and learn our lesson?

I have to cut one player before next Sunday. So holding till at least then.  But it’s looking like armstead will be my first cut, and painful look at who I could have drafted instead.

Whiffed on this guy as well...our first waivers ran overnight...Sony Michel went undrafted as people went after rookies and prospects late while I snagged Deebo as people were worried about his injury (and backup TEs)...not a happy pick to have Sony either...but better than a Covid list backup on a dumpster fire of a team I guess.

Being on the Covid list doesn't mean you for sure have Covid.   He could have just been exposed to somebody else who does.

True, but he’s missed valuable time and possibly opened the door for Ozigbo or Robinson to take over the backfield.

Jaguars coach Doug Marrone said it "will be awhile" before RB Ryquell Armstead (COVID-19 list) is ready to play.

Armstead opened camp on the team's reserve/COVID list, was eventually removed for a few practices, then returned for a second stint ahead of the regular season opener. With no timeline for his return, all of Devine Ozigbo, Chris Thompson, and James Robinson will work in a committee in the interim. Thompson remains the likeliest candidate to offer immediate value in negative game scripts in Week 1, whereas Ozigbo is a safe bet to lead the team in carries. Armstead can be universally dropped across re-draft leagues.

This guy has disappeared off the face of the earth?
When the Jags put him on COVID-IR on 9/4, "Marrone revealed to reporters during a press conference on Monday that he doesn’t know when Armstead will actually be able to return.

“I think it's gonna be a while, I can't put a real timetable on it but, you know, it's gonna be -- he'll be out for a while.”"

UPDATE:

Q: Status on Ryquell Armstead? Are the coaches still high on him? What does his role look like when he returns?

A: He is still on the reserve/COVID-19 list, just as he has been since Sept. 4. At this point, there is no reason to think he would have a big role whenever he returns. You can't justify taking James Robinson off of the field for Armstead when he hasn't shown anything in camp or during the season. (September 26)

What is up with this guy? Can’t find any recent news on him anywhere. Is he an afterthought now with the way Robinson has been playing? Have him in a keeper league and about ready to drop him with no new news about what the situation is with him.

I have him in my covid-IR slot on CBS, and today I got a roster warning that he wasn't IR eligible anymore and I had to activate him.

Now, I'm not sure if that's accurate. I don't see that online anywhere. He's still on the covid-reserve list on the team roster page.

think what happened is the Jags just forgot to include him on their roster report for the day, and CBS didn't carry over the designation.

Rumor I'd heard is that he lost a family member to covid and decided to opt-out of the season. However, the official opt-out deadline had past for the NFL. So, the team is doing him a favor and letting him stay on the covid-reserve list until next year.

Thanks @shades that’s great of the Jags to do that if true and thoughts and prayers to Ryquell if true. This virus is brutally devastating and taking a toll on almost everyone in one way or another.

Anyone have any update on him?

He was listed as a starter after Fournette was released. He was placed on the COVID list twice. Robinson emerged and has looked very solid.

Hope his health is ok, I just think it is strange that it is hard to find an update on him.

Does Armstead have any shot to get back in the mix this season, as cuff to Robinson (Ozigbo and Thompson are more third down guys)?

If he gets back, could he get looks?

Any Jag homers with an update on him.

Awful news.
