Saints TE? (1 Viewer)

Is Mark Campbell a legit TE for 2007 or do you see another RFA or UFA getting the job.

Drew Brees usually likes his TE.

campbell is more a blocking TE than anything. with conwell's injury, it's the only reason he was pressed into service. he actually split time with billy miller during games. neither of them were impressive really.

add in the fact that Reggie was used as much a receiving threat as rushing one then you can see why a TE might not rank high in the Saints offense. they are loaded, quite simply.

that being said, i do expect them to upgrade the position. Colston, while he had a great rookie year, is just emerging. horn might not be back in a saints uniform. copper and henderson are question marks. so they will try to upgrade but i wouldn't expect a big name acquisition.

I thought Billy Miller was impressive in the playoffs in the game that Campbell got hurt. He had 5-6 catches and seemed to have nice chemistry with Brees. He could be a sleeper next year.

My sentiments too. It's early, but in redraft next year, I like Billy Miller as a cheap #2 TE to target. In dynasty, I'd put him in the same tier as a Bo Scaife.

All three of them are getting old, Conwell has hands of stone, and cambell is more of a blocking TE then recieving. I thought Billy Miller did a good job in the games he was in and Campbell wasnt so bad either, but I would be really surprised if the saints dont try to upgrade at the position in the near future

As a saints fan i say that No Saints TE should be top 32 this year. Miller showed some good stuff last year but none of them play enough to get consideration. That may change if they get someone better. And you cant' realyl say Brees likes throwing to TE's because Gates is an exception but when you have Colston and the WR's that the Saints do i bet brees likes throwing to them more :(

With the WR's getting their catches, and Reggie Bush, I can't imagine the TE there getting more looks than your average fullback.

the other thing is that, given their needs, a receiving TE is just not a priority. they will focus on the defensive side with much of the offseason ahead of them. they do have to make a decision about Horn in all likelihood and, depending on how that goes, it may prompt them to act. I mean, if they let him go and can't get a suitable replacement then they might think a receiving TE could be best solution. however, unless that happens, i don't see any reason to invest much thought in the Saints TE.
