Saints undefeated in the snow (1 Viewer)

My co-worker keeps telling everyone that the Saints are undefeated when playing in the snow. Can this be right? I find it hard to believe that they've won every game in the snow. I know they don't have a winning record below 32 degrees but what about the snow. I've looked and can't find anything.

probably haven't even played that many games in the snow. most of their games have been in the superdome, Ed Jones Dome, SF, LA, ATL, CAR and TB.

I can only ever remember the Saints playing two games in the snow.

We beat Buffalo sometime in the late 80's in the snow. I remember Dalton Hilliard getting a long TD.

We also lost a playoff game in Chicago in 1990 16-6. It was snowing that day.

What happened over 15 years ago in the snow has no bearing on this game. In those cases, the Saints beat the Bills because they were much better (Jim Mora killed the AFC when he was the Saints coach) and we lost to the Bears because they were better. We barely got into the playoffs that year with an 8-8 record.

The Saints are going to win or lose the game on Sunday because they are going to either play better than the Bears or play worse. If anything, I think the Saints offense is MORE suited to bad weather. Our short passing game is great and we run the ball very well with Deuce. We do throw the long pass, but our offense doesn't need to do that. Chicago runs the ball, but their passing game is much more predicated on the vertical passing game.

Cold-weather Saints games since 1980:

1980 -- Wk 15 @ NYJ: won 21-20 (snow game, only win in a 1-15 season)

1983 -- Wk 14 @ NE: lost 7-0 (snow game)

1983 -- Wk 15 @ PHI: won 20-17

1984 -- Wk 16 @ NYG: won 10-7

1987 -- Wk 14 @ CIN: won 41-24

1989 -- Wk 14 @ BUF: won 22-19 (snow game, John Fourcade's first non-strike start)

1990 -- WC game @ CHI: lost 16-6 (snow game?)

1992 -- Wk 17 @ NYJ: won 20-0

1993 -- Wk 17 @ PHI: lost 36-27

1994 -- Wk 17 @ DEN: won 30-28

1995 -- Wk 17 @ NYJ: won 12-0 (snow game)

1996 -- Wk 16 @ NYG: won 17-3 (only win under interim HC Rick Venturi)

1997 -- Wk 17 @ KC: lost 25-13

2002 -- Wk 16 @ CIN: lost 13-20

From my own memory, the Saints are 3-2 in snow since 1980, if I count the 1990 wild card game. Maybe there was some snow falling, but I don't recall the field turning white or anything.

In general cold weather, the Saints have done fine since 1980. They don't curl up and die in the cold. Recall that Bum Phillips' and Jim Mora's Saints squads were built around defense and the running game ... they were never a light-'em up offense reliant on artificial turf and a dome environment.
