The salary cap floor doesn't kick in until 2013. So teams can spend as little as they want for the next two years. Some teams will use this cap space to sign their own players to long term contracts. But it would seem that many small market teams are simply going to pocket the savings. I'm surprised the players association allowed this loophole. The savings with the rookie salary cap was supposed to go to the veteran players.
I'm a Bear fan. I hope the Bears use some of this to sign Forte and Briggs, but I wouldn't be surprised if the McCaskeys pocket the money. Curious how other fans feel about their teams, and the money they aren't spending.
