Watkins became the first BUF rookie WR to have a 100 yard receiving day since Lee Evans in 2004.

Okay, that makes a lot more sense now. What's funny is, I've owned Stevie a hand full of times through-out the years and still bought that stat.

I voted:

1100 yards

10 TDs

90 receptions
I'm on the high end with you on yards and TDs, but I like the receptions more in the 75-80 range.

He's not a guy who is gonna have to run perfect routes in order to get the ball. They just need to find ways to get him in space and let him use that ridiculous athleticism to do the rest.

I went big.

90-1,200-9 (admittedly crazy ambitious for a rookie).

I think receptions will be a key, if they are there, the yard per reception could get the yardage total in the neighborhood, and I think he will make a lot of big plays (only player in FBS, probably FCS, too, with two 90+ yard TDs in 2013).

11-148-1 through 2 games (includes a great and meh game, so maybe that averages out).

Obviously early, but prorates over 16 games to 88-1,184-8.

* I left out rushing potential (I was just thinking of receiving numbers in the polls), but for what its worth:

Watkins wasn't used much as a rusher in 2013, but he had 14-97-1 in 2012 and 32-231 in 2011.

I could see him used on some jet sweeps like Harvin and Patterson. That could present some interesting options in the backfield, with fellow Clemson alum Spiller, having two skill players with dangerous speed. Watkins didn't test as having elite speed (though he may have fast as he needs to be, field, game speed :) ), but he has run a sub-10.5 100 m. Spiller is faster, I think he was one of the fastest sprinters in the nation. Manuel is capable of running, too.

I'm pulling for him, but the rib injury is a concern and the whole rookie wall thing will be an issue.

I suspect he plays in 10 full games. Misses two, and is limited in 4 more. I have nothing to support that, just speculation.

I went with 50+/700+/5

Watkins has three receptions of 25+ yards through 2 games. Stevie Johnson had two in 12 games last season.

this was another key stat pointed out in that column:

In two games, the Bills have allowed only one play of more than 18 yards. That came on the Bears’ fourth play from scrimmage in the opener. The Bills’ offense, on the other hand, already has 11 plays of 20 yards or more.

It was noted how Watkins was wide open all game, the below articles talk about some of the route concepts used to facilitate this.

Sammy Watkins on Early Track to Impressive Rookie Season (this gets technical, but Matt Bowen knows his stuff, former NFL safety).

With Orton taking over what should we expect from watkins going forward. This move has to help his prospects but i'm not sure what to expect
