I do not know of a way to prevent this as I think it's just an iphone thing. Here are a few solutions,-reply back with something offensive-reply back after every text with something stupid like "lol" or "haha" and continue to do this all night. Remember you're not the only one getting annoyed-show your friends how much cooler your Sammy is than the iphone and hope most of them eventually ditch those juvenile devices'comfortably numb said:

Why? The resale value on Galaxy phones is great. S2's are still getting almost $300 on eBay.
Root, unlock, and flash a ROM. You can use kernels that govern the CPU. Smart pause looks pretty slick. Not sure about the hover... it seems in the 2 seconds you need to cover you could have opened the pic then closed it back again if you didn't want that one. Dunno though. Will have to check other functionality. Should be a solid launch for Samsung. Good timing as right now Apple is losing favor with their last few OS releases... infinitely more buggy than 5.x stuff... That is the feature I am most excited about. Up for an upgrade in about a week. Might go with the Note 2 due to the late April launch and lack of anything game changing worth waiting for on the S4. Way I see it any change from the good old Blackberry Bold will be an impressive upgrade.

Yes, I have an iPhone 4s from work and my wife has the GS3. She usually gets my texts without issue, but getting the pictures is a rarity. Like maybe 25% of the time or less does the picture come through.
Got one of these. Easy to put on, stays snug, buttons all work, not overly bulky (i.e. less bulky than Otterbox), but still feels solid.
Texts make it through to my buddies S3 but group texts rarely do, and my pictures never do. Not sure what's up but for S3 users to be unable to receive picture texts from iPhone users is a pretty big problem. Doesn't seem universal but it's commonplace enough to be an issue.
Even when a photo does come through from an iPhone user I get it as a "slideshow" (even if it's only a single picture) which shows up small on the screen, won't zoom/auto-rotate, can't be saved/exported, etc.
Went with the "Aero" one since I thought it'd look good with my pebble blue S3. I was right.
Was just coming here to recommend the same. I typically hate cases but as my first S3 exploded from a small less-than-waist-high drop, I finally caved. I got one of the UAG and it hasn't hindered my enjoyment of the phone much. I've since dropped it several times from waist height without so much as a scratch.
I got the white one and it looks good on my white phone as well.
I get the slideshow thing but have no issues saving them to the disk and blowing them up. No problems with group texts either. I hate group texts though.
I can't stand it anymore!
