*** San Francisco 49ers *** Kittle locked down til 2029; Purdy contract watch underway (5 Viewers)

The Chargers are requesting to interview 49ers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks for their vacant head coaching job. They also requested interviews from Ravems OC Todd Monken, Lions OC Ben Johnson and DC Aaron Glenn

I wonder who our next DC will be if Wilks bolts.

What sucks is no comp picks since he has only been with the team a year. Have to have 2 seasons with the club. ☹️

I’d guess he’s probably coming back. He could benefit from having a smoother year next year where he knows the players and system better and doesn’t look like he’s about to be fired halfway through the season.

Getting Armstead and Jennings back is HUGE

Lombardi:

The 49ers are on track to be very relatively healthy for their first playoff game.

-Armstead
-Jennings
-Ji'Ayir Brown
-Tashaun Gipson Sr.
-Ambry Thomas
-George Odum

.. all slated to return to practice this week. The only Week 18 loss was Clelin Ferrell, who'll be out "at least a week"

49ers' Kyle Shanahan is now the 5th-longest tenured coach in the NFL, tied with McVay and McDermott.

1. Bill Belichick: 24 years, Patriots
2. Mike Tomlin: 17 years, Steelers
3. John Harbaugh: 16 years, Ravens
4. Andy Reid: 11 years, Chiefs
5. Shanahan/McVay/McDermott: 7 years

All the top 4 have a ring, hopefully Shanny joins the club.

Armstead back at practice!

Also, CMC, Juice, Trent and Warner named first team All Pro. Aiyuk gets no respect.

2023 First team All Pro:

In what way was Kelce better than Kittle this year? Zero problems with Aiyuk not making it ahead of Lamb and Hill.
Aiyuk has to split touches with CMC, Kittle and Deebo, and STILL puts up insane numbers. Hill and Lamb are option #1 on their teams. In that sense, what Aiyuk is doing is more impressive. I get that he's not considered upper elite tier, but the fact that he didnt even get a Pro Bowl nod is pretty ridiculous.

BA this season:

-#1 in yards per catch (18)
#2 in yards per route run
#1 in first-down rate (highest in 12 years)
#1 in DVOA (highest ever, beating 1989 Jerry Rice)
58.1% of his targets went for 1st downs (highest percent in the last 12 years)

Aiyuk on being snubbed for Pro Bowl:

“It was tough at first, but we’ll see pretty much every one of those guys at some point since they have to come through San Francisco, so it’s all good.”

49er fans, If you were in a playoff fantasy contest that allowed you to roster McAffrey, Kittle, Aiyuk, and Deebo, would you? Have they all been able to produce consistently when all are on the field?

49ers who were practicing today: Arik Armstead, Ji’Ayir Brown, Jauan Jennings, Ambry Thomas

49ers who weren’t practicing: Christian McCaffrey, Dre Greenlaw, Tashaun Gipson, Jon Feliciano, Clelin Ferrell

Yeah, but for All Pro, there's apparently only two spots. Pro Bowl, he definitely deserved a spot.

Sorry to quote my own post, but if you had to pick 3 of the 4 for the entire playoffs, who would you pick? Obviously CMC, but who are the other two among Kittle, Aiyuk, Deebo?

Yeah, I wasn't saying that he should have been named All Pro, just that he gets no respect after the Pro Bowl snub. In all honesty the Pro Bowl is just a popularity contest that doesn't mean anything anyway, so it's not really a big deal, it's just crazy that he doesn't get talked about like some of his peers.

It's all about the Lombardi trophy though, that's the only award that matters. I'm already getting nervous even though we don't play this week. Not like scared nervous, but we've been waiting for this since the NFCCG and it's right in front of us again. All we need to do is win 3 in a row, and we've had two 3+ game win streaks already this season (5 weeks and 6 weeks actually). Time to do it one more time.

If PPR I'd pick Aiyuk and Kittle. If not I'd go Aiyuk and Deebo.

Edit: I retired from FF 15 years ago, so my opinion is for entertainment purposes only.

Aiyuk and C Ward named 2nd team All Pro.

That's more like it.

Purdy finished just behind Dak for 2nd team QB.

Purdy shredded the NFL this year. This is called a runaway:

Adjusted net yards per attempt, NFL QBs (includes YPA, TD, INTs, sacks)...

1. Brock Purdy: 9.0
2. Tua Tagovailoa: 7.5
3. C.J. Stroud: 7.5
4. Lamar Jackson: 7.3
5. Dak Prescott: 7.3

Peters to Washington. I would have “promoted” Lynch out of his role and given the job to Peters. Ugh.
I'm surprised Peters was here as long as he was, but it sounds like theyve been grooming his successor:

Akash:

I don't think it's a coincidence that the 49ers had Director of College Scouting Tariq Ahmad do a post-draft press conference with Adam Peters after this past draft.

Ahmad's definitely gotten more visibility and I think the 49ers had to be preparing for this scenario.

Nothing going on, so here's CMC when he was given a USC hat to sign

Video

🤣

Pretty funny, but that hat is worth more now than if he just signed it...and 461 all purpose yards in one game?!

If either the Packers or Rams win, the 49ers will know their opponent today. If not, the winner of Eagles-Bucs on Monday will be SF's opponent next week.

Green Bay offense EPA/play:

Weeks 1-8: #15
Weeks 9-18: #3

Green Bay defense EPA/play:

Weeks 1-8: #25
Weeks 9-18: #20

How much of last night's game was Dallas ****ting the bed vs GB being lights out? If it's the latter, I would be worried.

The Packers played well, but there were multiple occasions where GB receivers were so wide open that I didn't even see any Cowboys on my TV when they made the reception. The Dallas defense just didn't show up to the building last night. I'm not worried.

It's supposed to rain next weekend in Santa Clara so that can be another equalizing factor. I don't know about "worried" but it could be a tougher game than the point spread suggests.

Detroit, Green Bay, San Francisco, and Tampa Bay are your final 4 in the NFC. Just as most predicted it’d be before the season began.

I want to beat the Packers *** (impressed with their young team and what they’re doing but I hated losing to them and/or the Cowboys in the 90’s playoffs) and I’d love to see a matchup vs that Lions team as much as they scare me.

We're gonna roll Green Bay. Their defense is trash.

Also, I think their age and inexperience show against us.

Look, SF showed this year that any team can beat them on a given Sunday. But if you told me at any point this year that they have to beat 2 of GB/DET/TB to get to the Super Bowl, I would have taken that in a heartbeat. No excuses this year.

Yep, but Baltimore is the only team that beat us when we were healthy on offense (minus Jauan). The other losses were either when we rested starters or were without Deebo and Trent, and we had Cleveland beat if not for Moody missing kicks.

Green Bay won't be a cake walk, but I don't see losing to them.
