Boyer, 52, has an extensive NFL background both as a player and coach. He played linebacker in the league from 1994 to 2004, suiting up for the Miami Dolphins, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Cleveland Browns.

Boyer began his coaching career as an intern with the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants from 2009 to 2010. He later served as the Indianapolis Colts' assistant special teams coach from 2012 to 2015 before taking on the role of special teams coordinator with the Jets in 2016 (hired by Todd Bowles), a position he has held since. Boyer, who has worked with Saleh since 2021, now reunites with him on Shanahan's staff in Santa Clara.

Kinda doesn't really make sense for SF to trade him. I mean, they are in their window, Aiyuk coming off an ACL, Pearsall didn't show enough to suggest he's gonna step up, and they lose money in the process.

Unless they get a really high pick (at least top-40) I can't see the logic here, other than Deebo wants out, and volunteers>hostages.

A high pick? That's not happening. He's only got 1 year left on his deal.

That's my point.

Yeah, honestly, even if he had multiple years on his deal left, he's not good enough to warrant a top 40 pick.

He's washed IMO. They can dream on Pearsall and they have Jennings and Kittle. If they can unload him without submarining the cap situation I'd be supportive of it.
