Why are the Steelers not in the 2 minute offense the entire second half? They don't need to "possess the ball" as Tomlin said at half time, they need to score points. That probably won't work either, but it's at least trying to win the game.
At 20-7 in the 3rd quarter, I think Tomlin is right. They needed a sustained drive or two, give the defense a breather, and get the game within one score. Try to establish some kind of control. But before any of that could happen, McCaffrey goes for 65 and a TD. You're gonna need a new philosophy (like 2-minute drill) after that.
I actually thought they should kick the FG. Happy to be wrong. But getting points on the board would have been my top priority after that gift of a drive.
I could not disagree more. You’re down 20-0 and it’s 4th and 3 deep in the opponents zone. Even a horrible offense (which presumably is what we have) has to go for it. Kicking a FG is throwing in the white flag.I concede. I was wrong.

I concede the point. Also, there was a 4th and 6 from the SF 45 early in the 3rd quarter where the Steelers punted. Put them on the 17 yard-line. A terrible decision, analytically and otherwise.
