San Francisco WR (1 Viewer)

IMHO Bruce is the safest pick--unlikely to be anything better than a solid third starter on a fantasy team, but roster-worthy.

If you're swinging for the fences Morgan looks like he's go 'it' to me, but he'd be far from the first to look really impressive in the preseason and then never translate that into regular season success.

Bryant Johnson (hamstring) resumed practicing with the 49ers on Tuesday. He immediately joined the starting offense, although Josh Morgan was out with an undisclosed illness. The first-team split end job is not guaranteed to be Morgan's, so keep an eye on San Francisco's exhibition finale. Source: sf49ers.com

Josh Morgan did not dress for his third consecutive practice. These absences also include film meetings and coaches meetings. There is no way this doesnt set him back with very limited practice time left as there will only be a special teams practice tomorrow and walk-through on Thursday. Sunday will be the earliest oppurtunity for him to get reps in, but more than likely it would be Monday.

That certainly does sound like a setback. Did I miss an injury?

I didn't see that update.... it only said he missed Tuesday; not 3 days of team meetings. If thats true and he missed up to 3 days of Team Meetings; how can u not call it a set back... even a minor one.Its all a crap shot over there...

Bryant is back at practice...even did 7 on 7 drills.

Fanball reporting...

THE NEWS

Bryant Johnson returned to practice Tuesday for the first time since pulling his hamstring back in early August, according to the 49ers' official site. He did all of the individual work and even got some plays in during the 7-on-7 and team periods.

Our View

The Niners have yet to decide whether Johnson or rookie Josh Morgan will start at split end. In Martz's offense, both should see plenty of snaps.

My money is on Bryant to be the most productive WR in San Fran this year, although not more productive than a WR3. He has the most talent, IMO, and can be drafted very cheaply. Don't sleep on him.

Daniel Brown, of The Mercury News, reports San Francisco 49ers WR Jason Hill is on the bubble of making the final roster.
Could be opinion, because Hill seems like the prototypical Martz WR.

Josh Morgan did not dress for a fourth consecutive practice today. This is significant because it was the final practice of training camp for SF. I seriously doubt he will play Friday Night. He should still make this team but that is not the lock it was a week ago.

Morgan will not play FridayHe will definitely make the team I would think, but this makes the WR situation wide open at this point, especially with Johnson back at practice. We'll have to wait and see how it all shapes out. He could still end up playing a major role in Martz's offense.

And for those wondering, it's an illness that's keeping Morgan out.

It's hard to imagine he would go from potential starter to cut because he missed 4 practices. Bryant Johnson has barely seen the practice field at all. What is the nature of his injury?

I dont think anyone believes he will be cut, but in this league, other than theTravis Henry family tree sprouting a new twig or two, there are no sure things.4 practices is alot and has to to be considered when drafting because without question it will affect his immediate value to anyones fantasy team, even as a 3-4 WR. I personally think the guy has the oppurtunity to become a vital part of this offense, but I dont see him being on the fast track that he seemed he might be on for the last month.

yeah. A 3rd or 4th wr has never been productive in a Martz offense anyway.

Don't look now, but both Bryant Johnson and Arnaz Battle have looked great tonight. They're both back from injuries for the 4th pre-season game.
