Sanders/Brown (1 Viewer)

Seems like a dumb question (and hey, maybe it is), but at this time a year ago, many were 50/50 on which guy would emerge (or if either would). Brown had a great sophomore year and put up 1100 yards on 69 receptions, so he does seem like the #2 going into 2012 (and that is fine). My real question is, where does Brown go in a redraft, and where can you get Sanders? To take that a step further, does a healthy Sanders improve on his 22-288 line (both had two TDs), and does he see a majority of the yards that went to Ward (not much since we are talking roughly 350) and an aging Cotchery? Maybe he will even cannibalize stats from Wallace and Brown, making him a 50-750-5 kind of guy? I know it is not sexy, but having a guy at the end of the bench who you can call on in desperate times, can make/break a season.

We are the people jerking around on a FF site in early May, and even then, my guess is many of us have not had multiple (or even one) drafts yet, but Brown seems like a guy who may go in that top 20-23 area, and if so, if may make Sanders plummet. Maybe the drop is deserved, but I also think it could be washed away if he can get a few more TD grabs and yards.

Brown is the obvious call, but he carries a pretty steep price now. Brown is going to be drafted around WR20 in most leagues if the message board survivor leagues are a good indicator & Sanders is going around WR63.

IMO, if you're drafting either Brown or Wallace early, I think it's a good idea to try to snag Sanders late if you have the room on your roster. Great insurance if something happens to either one.

This time last year a lot of people thought Sanders was going to be the one to emerge. He couldn't stay healthy and Brown looked very good. If Sanders is healthy I think he has a good shot at carving out more time. Obviously Brown is safer but I do think there's a chance Sanders turns out to be the better WR, though probably not this year.

if dynasty league, get both, cause if Wallace acts like an idiot year and wants Megatron money, he wont be back next year and Sanders and Brown will be starting. Dont forget the steelers have Cotchery too. Haley has weapons and knew how to use them, in KC. Will be interesting watching this offense this year, esp if the OL is going to be a lot better with DeCastro and healthy tackles and Pouncey.

Brown might lose PR and KR chances now that the steelers drafted Chris Rainey, who can also fly, 4.3 speed.

They also drafted a 6'4'' WR late who has 4.4 speed and has legit shot to be WR5.

speed kills.

See, that's my thought. I can't remember struggling between guy A versus guy B in the preseason (for WRs on the same team) and having such a large chasm in stats. Maybe that is the case with these two, but I really am hedging bets on Sanders thinking he could put up equal stats at a fraction of the cost.

Brown is the real deal, said the same thing before last year when people were still touting Sanders. I think he's going to be 6th round pick in most leagues, but will slip to the 7th in others often enough because of no track record yet and only 2 TDs last year. I think he has a very high floor and is still a value pick in the 6th/7th rounds because of that.Sanders is a real wildcard and will be available late for good reason. He hasnt shown the ability to stay healthy, which is probably the most important thing concerning his draft stock. While I think he will in all likelihood be the 3rd most productive WR for the Steelers, I wouldnt be surprised if Cotch ends up with better numbers, and I also expect Miller and the RBs to get more targets with Haley as the OC now. I said Brown has a very high floor, well I think Sanders likely has a low ceiling, something like 40/500/5, and will be volatile week to week. If 1 of the guys ahead of him gets hurt, then I can see him surpassing that, but again for him to do that youre counting on him to stay healthy as well which he hasnt been able to do so far thru 2 years. Outside of that scenario, I see him as someone who's only borderline roster-worthy because 3 out of 4 weeks his numbers will miss instead of hit - and who knows when the hits come.

Sanders being healthy won't mean Brown (or Wallace) is coming off the field. Sanders staying healthy means he'll get more snaps than he has so far, filling in for Hines' and taking some from Cotch, and nothing more.I honestly cant see how anyone can say Sanders will be a better WR than Brown at this point outside of Sanders being drafted 3 rounds higher.

Considering their ADP I'd rather have Brown out of the three. I am not a Sanders fan. With Wallace on the team he's not relevent as shown by last year.

Initially, Sanders was thought to be the better prospect by draftniks and Steelers coaches (not that the coaches didn't gush over Brown as well). If not for health issues, Sanders may very well have been ahead of Brown on the depth chart. I've got Brown on all my teams and have been going after Sanders as well since I expect Wallace to leave for greener pastures next year.

Why not just grab them both??

I've always been a huge supporter of handcuffing RB/WR's in ideal situations.
Well, Brown may be out vs KC.

To Date:

Tar Recpt Yd Avg TD FL

Brown 66 42 499 11.9 1 1

Sanders 38 24 302 12.6 1 0

If you're not loving your WR 2/3 situation this week, Sanders might be a good play this weekend vs the Chiefs, in PIT, on MNF.

And if you're in a league that awards return yards to individual players you may get a boon from starting Sanders. Chris Rainey is hurt and if he doesn't play then Sanders will get the KR and PR duties.
