Santana Moss fantasy bust (1 Viewer)

Thus far Santana Moss has been a major bust in the 2006 season. If you take away his one good game vs Jacksonville (100 + and 3 td's) Santana Moss has been a major fantasy flop.

Moss was taken in many drafts in the third round to be used as a #1 wr. It seems after a great 2005 season Moss is coming back to earth.

Going forward I don't see Moss being any better than a weak #2 or a pretty solid #3 wr.

Moss Owner here, haven't seen too many of his games.

Is he being covered up by defenders?

Is Brunell constantly on his back?

Is Brunell just an old has been?

There's got to be some reasons for this.

The entire offense team is sucking eggs right now. Moss' struggles are only one symptom of it.
:goodposting: when Brunell has time to throw and the WRs have time to get downfield, Santana is fine. yesterday all Brunell did was backpeddle

I traded FOR him last week. I thought he was a pretty good buy low target. Obviously, I am not too enamored with his production against the Colts. I just hope hope the hammy is not a problem and that he is good to go following the bye week. I don't think he could get much worse than he has been.

i notice you don't hang out in your Larry Johnson fantasy bust thread anymore :(

Well he did something to his hammy yesterday, so that was part of his problem yesterday.

But take a look at his game log last year. He only scored a TD in five of his games last year. And he had a pretty long streak of 8 games where he really didn't do all that much.

Games 7-14 (8 games): 37/497/1

Games 1-6 & 15-16 (8 games): 47/986/7

It's not really suprising to see him have a bunch of crappy games. The only question will be if he now has some good ones. I wouldn't bet on it.

Watching the game yesterday, Aikman was questioning the Redskins conservative play calling. Same with Mike & Mike this morning. The 'Skins aquired ARE & BLloyd in the offseason to go with Moss, yet they really aren't stretching the field. They've been content to run the ball and throw short passes.

Kinda surprising with the WR speed they have. Maybe Brunell and/or the O-line can't get it done down field?

Your answer lies in games 7-15 last year.

Aside from game 16 last year when he blew up, he's been mediocre and spotty at best for nearly an entire year now.

Sounds like Coles From last year.....
:lmao: How long have you been waiting to try to throw that thread back at me? Well, you missed. This is Coles' first season looking even remotely like the WR he used to be. Moss is no different than he has been, he's just getting fewer opportunities from an offense in disarray right now.

Coles had an Injury year and then a year with no QB on an offense that hit rock bottom....

Now, his offense is ok and now he is playing better......

I'd say both players have similar potential and similar injury concerns but, WHEN HEALTHY have great potential depending on the offense they are in....

Jet players were more comfortable with Coles and yeah, Moss is probably a better deep guy while I consider Coles a tougher player.

Moss has been very hit or miss during his short career, so it's not a huge surprise. After his breakout year with the Jets, he cooled off considerably the following year (although injuries may have played a part - I don't totally recall).

Part of it is that he's more of a downfield receiver as opposed to a possession guy, you're going to get some variability.

Santana Moss was one of the most obvious players to avoid this year. Problem #1: you were relying on Mark Brunell to get him the ball. Problem #2: The signings of Randle-El and Lloyd were likely to limit the number of balls thrown Moss' way.

Cmon there is hardly any balls thrown in El or Lloyd's way.I agree that Brunell suxor, the OC for the Skins has no clue they should use Moss the same way the Panthers use Smith.Get the ball in his hands as much as possible he will make big plays.

Exactly - anyone drafting him should have known what they were getting. As a Santana Moss owner from last season, the guy was a complete headache every week and no one should have expected anything different this year.

And problem #3 - he wasn't all that good last year to begin with. Unless you like starting WR's that get you junk points almost every week, waiting for the one 30 point blowup.

:goodposting: Its funny how people put the blinders on because of a few big games.

Ding ding ding!!! We have a winner. If you watch any the Redskins game, you'll know this to be true.
is this guy hurt or what?
There's another thread on this but he felt a pull or strain in his hammy late in the game and came out. It's unclear right now how serious it is although the early reports seem to be downplaying it.

Skins are definitely struggling right now. But S Moss is a superior talent IMO. VERY similar to Steve Smith in his skill set. Problem is, Delhomme is about 10x better than Brunell. All us Skins fans are praying Joe puts Campbell in. With his rocket arm, he should be willing to take more shots downfield to Moss. I'll ride him out this year, because i know sooner or later (and it could be next year) the Skins will have a better QB. EIther Campbell will show he can play at this level this year, or the Skins will get a QB through FA, or draft one with what will probably be a top 10 pick in next year's draft.
