I am officially depressed to be a Cowboys fan. As a Texans fan as well, I was happy when the Texans let him go. Terry Glenn, get ready for 3 yard outs on 3rd and 12. (Rotoworld) The Cowboys are poised to hire Chris Palmer as an assistant coach later this week.Impact: It's uncertain whether Palmer will be the team's offensive coordinator and/or play-caller. Palmer has worked with Cleveland and Houston as expansion teams since working under Bill Parcells in New England.

Palmer has helped to ruin two #1 overall picks at QB. He looked around the league and saw Bledsoe as another potential victim. The challenge for Palmer will be having Bledsoe unlearn over a decade of football in order to learn to throw it "the Palmer way." :D

He all ready coached Bledsoe. Anyone is better than Sean Payton. He was the most unimaginative, predictable play caller I have ever witnessed. How much worse could Palmer be?

Cowboys hire ex-Browns coach PalmerBy Len PasquarelliESPN.comFormer Cleveland Browns head coach Chris Palmer, who most recently served as the Houston Texans' offensive coordinator, has agreed to join the Dallas Cowboys' staff. The exact title for Palmer, who agreed to a two-year contract, is unknown. Ostensibly, he replaces assistant head coach/passing game coordinator Sean Payton, who left Dallas two weeks ago to become the New Orleans Saints head coach. It is expected that Palmer will work with the Dallas quarterbacks and have major input into the passing game.Dallas is not expected to have an assistant with the title of offensive coordinator.Palmer, 56, will be reunited with quarterback Drew Bledsoe, with whom he worked four seasons (1993-96) with the New England Patriots. It will also be the second time in his career that Palmer will serve on a Bill Parcells-led staff. In addition, he will work closely with current Cowboys running game coordinator Tony Sparano, whom he coached in college at New Haven. Recently, Palmer met with Payton about the Saints' offensive coordinator position, and spoke to New York Jets officials about a similar job.Despite having been dismissed by the Texans during the first month of the 2005 season, Palmer, a 15-year NFL veteran, is a highly respected passing games designer. He began his professional coaching career in the CFL in 1993, and also worked in the USFL before joining the Houston Oilers' staff in 1990.He spent three seasons with the Oilers, and his resume includes stops at New England (1993-96), Jacksonville (1997-98), Cleveland (1999-2000) and the Texans (2002-2005). He was the coach of the expansion Browns and compiled a 5-27 record in two years.

What the basically means is that Parcells will call the plays again next year. They will run the same offense. Nothing will really change.

Former Cleveland Browns head coach Chris Palmer, who most recently served as the Houston Texans' offensive coordinator, has agreed to join the Dallas Cowboys' staff.

Dallas is not expected to have an assistant with the title of offensive coordinator.

Palmer, 56, will be reunited with quarterback Drew Bledsoe, with whom he worked four seasons (1993-96) with the New England Patriots. It will also be the second time in his career that Palmer will serve on a Bill Parcells-led staff. In addition, he will work closely with current Cowboys running game coordinator Tony Sparano, whom he coached in college at New Haven.

What's the problem? The last time Parcells, Palmer and Bledsoe were together they went to the Super Bowl.

What the basically means is that Parcells will call the plays again next year.  They will run the same offense.  Nothing will really change.
Agreed. :goodposting:
Payton actually called the plays last year. Parcells said it was the first time he turned over the play calling to someone else.

How much worse?Oh, you will see.

:lmao:

Well, like someone said above, the last time these three guys were together they went to the Super Bowl.If this team goes to the playoffs next year it will be becuase of the defense any way, not becuase of the offense.

I never said it wasn't it a good thing. It's OK.As far as Payton calling plays. Yes, technically he called the plays but on "Bill's offensive and his philosophy. That was not Payton's offense.Bill even said in PC's that he told Payton what to call in crunch time. He also said he would say run or pass and then Payton could the play. If anyone thinks this won't be Bill's Offense....you are mistaken...imo.

who cares reallyParcells is an old boring coach who only hires his old boring buddiesnext year we'll have an old, boring offense and probably finish 8-8 or 9-7, yet another season of boredom in Big D on the horizon

Parcells closely goverend the play-calling leash, too.
