I am in a 12 team league

3 div 4 per div

is this the only way to make it so you play your division opponents twice?

DOUBLEHEADER Each team plays two opponents in week #1 only.

Each team plays divisional opponents twice and all other teams once. Week #1 games are non-divisional match-ups against one team from each of the other divisions.

No. How many weeks in the season?

13 weeks,

I want to play everyone in my division twice (so 6 total games vs div) weeks 1-3 and 8-11

and I want to play everyone else once

I think this is the only way or just not play one team

How do most do this.

So 14 games in 13 weeks. (div games 3 + 3 = 6 and non div 8. 6 + 8 = 14)

Two games in week one is not the only way...but likely the best. You want three playoff weeks with 6 teams (with 2 BYEs in first playoff week) or 8 teams in the playoffs AND you do not want to play in week 17.

we add one DH week the first week AFTER the byes......we like this better then doing it the first week or within the first couple weeks of the season....it gives teams more time to prepare and nobody starts 0-2 after one week.....

everybody knows what week it is before the draft......and after the computer generates a schedule it is usually just a matter of adding the last matchup of non divisional opponents that haven't played each other yet.....it will usually double up with the first of three succeeding divisional games......so you play one divisional opponent and one non divisioanl opponent....kind of nice to have a week like that to look forward to....

You're right, a double header in one week or splitting into four 3-team divisions would each make it work and in a 13-week schedule, I don't see other options. If you are willing to play with your playoff structure by cutting it to just two weeks, then a 14th regular season week would open up for use. In this case, your playoffs would have to be either just 4 teams or 6 teams with a pair of 3-way 1st round games. That said, I'd probably prefer sticking to 13 weeks and going with the double header in one week if you must play everyone. I would put some thought into the scheduling of that double header week with respect to your league's trading deadline, typical bailing point, bye weeks, etc.

3-way first round games?how would that workweek 151v6 2v5 3v43 teams would advance to week 16

We have 3divs x 4 teams. We play division teams twice and we play 7 of the other 8 teams. The team that is not played is determined by last years final standings (i.e. best team and worst team don't play, 2nd best and 2nd worst don't play, etc...), with allowances for divisional matchups (i.e. if the worst and best teams are in the same division, they have to play so the best team and 2nd worst don't play, 2nd best and worst don't play, etc...).

We are a partial keeper league so there's at least some link the previous season. If we were a pure redraft, we'd probably just determined teams not played randomly.
