Scott Wright of NFLDraftCountown Mock Draft - 04/12/2007 (1 Viewer)

Round 1

6. Washington Redskins- Adam Carriker De | Nebraska

I do not see this happening in any scenario. It seems that if they dont get Adams, they should trade down for either Carriker, Anderson or Branch. No value in staing at #6 without Adams.

7. Minnesota Vikings- Adrian Peterson Rb | Oklahoma

Andy ####s his pants.

13. St. Louis Rams- Darrelle Revis Cb | Pittsburgh

I could see Revis as the first CB off the board.

14. Carolina Panthers- Jon Beason Olb | Miami (Fl)

Not a bad pick but is Reggie Nelson a better value here?

20. New York Giants- Joe Staley Ot | Central Michigan

I quite like this pick

21. Denver Broncos- Jamaal Anderson De | Arkansas

22. Dallas Cowboys- Jarvis Moss De | Florida

Excellent value on both picks. Both will thrive in these situations.

25. New York Jets- Greg Olsen Te | Miami (Fl)

27. New Orleans Saints- Chris Houston Cb | Arkansas

I think this is where both players SHOULD go. As many great things are said about Houston, I would love to see him locally in New Orleans and yes, I am being selfish. As for Olsen, I dont even consider him the best all around TE in this draft. But a better pure reciever than Zach Miller, yes. Thats precisely what the Jets need.

33. Oakland Raiders- Trent Edwards Qb | Stanford

Really can't buy this. Stanton is in the same boat as Edwards- drug down by his teamates but mountains of potential. But at least Stanton put up some statisically appreciable seasons. Hard to pass on concrete production- and lets not forget that Heisman winner Troy Smith

34. Detroit Lions- Justin Durant Olb | Hampton

What's the deal with this guy? He's shot up so much lately and I cant put a finger on it. Any thoughts? I really have not seen any game tape of this guy so I'm essentially clueless. Great combine and perfect for the Lions Cover-2 is all I hear. But is he good value here?

35. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Dwayne Jarrett Wr | Usc

36. Cleveland Browns- Aaron Ross Cb | Texas

37. Chicago Bears (F/Was/Nyj)- Michael Griffin S | Texas

38 Arizona Cardinals- Tim Crowder De | Texas

39. Atlanta Falcons (F/Hou)- Justin Blalock Og | Texas

String of fantastic picks here. Great job.

44. Atlanta Falcons- Charles Johnson De | Georgia

Atlanta makes out like a bandit thus far. Wow.

45. Carolina Panthers- Tanard Jackson Cb | Syracuse

As a corner or a safety? If the former, who gets moved to a safety spot?

50. Tennessee Titans- Eric Wright Cb | Unlv

51. New York Giants- Marcus Mccauley Cb | Fresno St.

Former-->Underrated; Latter-->Overrated. Nonetheless, this is the order they should go but I think there will be a larger disparity between the two than most thing. And as a Jags fan, I hope the Titans do not get Wright.

52. St. Louis Rams- Demarcus Tyler Dt | North Carolina St.

53. Dallas Cowboys- Tony Ugoh Ot | Arkansas

54. Kansas City Chiefs- Arron Sears Ot | Tennessee

55. Seattle Seahawks- Ben Patrick Te | Delaware

56. Denver Broncos- James Marten Ot | Boston College

57. Philadelphia Eagles- David Harris Ilb | Michigan

58. New Orleans Saints- Sidney Rice Wr | South Carolina

59. New York Jets- Lamarr Woodley De | Michigan

60. Miami Dolphins (F/Ne)- Josh Wilson Cb | Maryland

61. Baltimore Ravens- Ryan Harris Ot | Notre Dame

62. San Diego Chargers- Turk Mcbride Dt | Tennessee

63. New York Jets (F/Chi)- Daymeion Hughes Cb | California

64. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (F/Ind)- Quentin Moses De | Georgia

A string of fine fine FO selections marred by Dallas' drafting of Ugoh. Im just not sold he's an NFL LT and there are still several on the board at this point. Why Ugoh? Sears should be their guy. Also, Sidney Rice and Quentin Moses are far far too low. SOD material right here. Love David Harris, Woodley and Wilson and they all landed in good spots. Not so high on Harris or Daymeion Hughes but both will end up as solid system guys.

How Beekman, Weddle, Stanton and Alama-Francis fall to Round 3 is beyond me.

I would wet myself if the Pats got Meriweather and Timmons in the 1st and Booker in the 3rd.

I'm personally calling for Darius Walker to the Pats in the 3rd, but Booker would be tremendous.

OK... one more time.

The Jets will not go TE, nor do they need one. Jason Pociask, a fifth rounder from 2006 will be the starting TE, platooned with Baker. JP is an accomplished blocking TE, and will immediately improve the very poor run blocking on the right side of the Jets' offensive line. He had a shoulder injury in August 2006 that landed him on the IR. He only runs a 4.8 forty, but has good hands and runs good routes. He's a lot like Chris Cooley.... a HB/TE guy. Tough to tackle. Very good blocker.

The Jets are also happy with Dwayne Robertson at NT, backed up by third year player sione Pouha, who was also IR'd with a knee in TC, but appeared at that time to have been head of Robertson on the depth chart. Pouha is huge... 325 or there abouts, and not fat. Forget the Jets taking a DT.

The Jets also went out and signed Coleman, the 3-4 DE from Dallas, and he will start over Kimo vonOellhoffen opposite Ellis. Bowens, a FA from Miami will push Hobson to be the OLB across from Bryan Thomas. I would not be surprised to see Hobson moved to the inside, but where that leaves Barton could be on the street. Forget Woodley too.

The Jets need a deep threat, and a player that can step in for Coles in a year or two, if not sooner. Coles and Cotchery are very similar... good hands, good routes and fearless over the middle, but neither is a deep threat. Look for the Jets to go after a fast WR in the first two rounds.

The other pressing needs are on the offensive line. Clement at RT is a retread, and a marginal player. in a year when even average O linemen were buying mansions, no one signed Clement, and he re-signed with the Jets. Place holder guy. Moore at RG is cheap. He's cheap because he isn't very good. Kendall at LG is getting old. One of the Jets 2 second round picks will be O line.

Biggest need on the team is CB. With both Dyson and Barrett hurt for the playoff game with NE, Brady surgically OWNED the Jets' CB's, picking them apart like a pathologist over a tumor. Even I can see that Hughes isn't gonna make it in the NFL. The Jets go after one of the top four CB's in the first, if one of them is left.

I thought this would make me feel better. Didn't werk.

40. Miami Dolphins Dwayne Jarrett Wr | Usc 41. Minnesota Vikings Steve Smith Wr | Usc 42. San Francisco 49'ers Sidney Rice Wr | South Carolina
For the 49ers to have Jarrett and Smith go just before their 2nd round pick, and then to take Rice, would be heartbreaking IMO. Granted, I'm a west coast guy, but the stuff I'm reading about Rice is that he's a "deep threat" that lacks speed. I'd love to see them package their 2nd and one of their 3rds to move up and assure themselves of Jarrett.
