Scraping the bottom of the barrel for my LB3 (1 Viewer)

Mentioned this league last week in another thread. Waivers options are limited. I've got David and Franklin as my 1/2 punch at LB. Had Troy Williams and Pace both go to IR, and Dorian Williams has largely disappeared since Milano's return. I'm stuck choosing between Ventrell Miller (JAC), J.J. Russell (TB), and Jon Rhattigan (CAR) for my LB3 this week.

Miller was scoring pretty consistently, but his points (and snap share) has gone progressively down as of late. Last week shows no defensive snaps and 1.5 pts (I'm assuming something on ST's). With Oluokun and Lloyd both playing, he seems to be the odd man out.

Russell has been OK, but not spectacular, the past few weeks with TB's LB group pretty decimated with injury. He's projected to score 9-ish points this week, which I would probably take in a heartbeat.

Rhattigan is possibly flying under the radar in CAR, where they sent two LB's (Cherelus and Wallace) to IR just this week. Cherelus scored 14 pts last week, and I originally read that Rhattigan was the next man up to take his place. Sounds like that may have been premature, since some dude named Cam Gill out-snapped Rhattigan 19-1 after Cherelus' departure against the Cowboys.

So, all things, considered, and since I'm more concerned with high floor than shooting for the stars in terms of ceiling, I think going with the TB duo (Russell in addition to David) might be the safe play, no? Dallas seems to be doing OK on offense, with LB's scoring decent against them and their recent running success with Dowdle.

My other option would be to just start two LB, and go with three DL (Cooper DEN, Hunter HOU, and Rousseau BUF). But, while Hunter and Rousseau have been hot lately, Cooper has been so-so, and I think Russell's 6-7 pt floor might be the safe play.

Thoughts?

is James Williams (Ten) listed as S or LB in your league? He might be an option if Gifford misses time. He put up decent numbers last week. Otis Reese is another thought there if Gifford is out. Not sure which guy (Williams or Reese) would get the nod. Maybe ask @Bri

Is Troy Dye (LAR) available? He had a nice week last week.

Hard to say if you should play a DL or DB over a LB because that is really scoring dependent. I have a league or two that DL is preferred to LB and solid DB's over a lesser LB type.

At this point, waivers are done for the week. Dye was grabbed a couple of weeks ago, anyway. The TEN situation seems messy, and with limited roster spots, I'm pretty much maxed out anyway. For what it's worth, Williams is a LB in this league.

Our scoring favors LB's (not weighted towards DL, etc.), so it's ideal to start three LB. But, when your LB3 is scoring around 6-8 PPG, it begs the question of whether 3 DL makes more sense. I still think I'll probably stick with Russell. And, my opponent is projected to score about 50 points less than me (on paper, for whatever MFL's projections are worth). So, yeah, I just need to avoid zeroes and hopefully I'll pull through.

Another question for another league.... If Christian Harris ends up being inactive for HOU, does Hewitt once again become fantasy-relevant this week?

or whatever MFL's projections are worth)
the answer to this question is "nothing". Their projections are terrible.
Fair enough. Yeah, they are particularly bad on the defensive side, probably because the site they draw their projections from (is it still Fantasy Sharks?) doesn't really delve into the IDP world. I see guys all the time who have hit double-digits the past couple of weeks, yet still show a zero projection. Yet they'll show guys who have been on IR all year projected to score 11 pts or whatever.

He's only played LB in the NFL
Reese is hurt and I'd guess not playing.
Murray is hurt and I'd guess playing.
We'll see.

Williams is still a preseason novelty and we'll see how he plays now- hopefully.
He's got 4.62 speed in the 40 and "look at him go" game speed so I'm pretty much confused on that.
Brownlee was an exceptional rookie in camp that did play same.
Harrell was an exceptional rookie in camp that...all I can guess is he rocked against the bad Ts in training camp. They thought they had a star. 3 sacks with third string, 2-3 sacks second string. I wonder how he'll do with the ones. Oh my he's still special and...pffff he has one sack on the year sometimes scored a TFL.

They thought they had three gems. Waiting to see on Williams.

Gray has been an afterthought and may be getting some work in. No one really knows how or if he fits in. The supposed sleeper LB was always injured for stuff people played thru and we don't know what happened behind the scenes, but I don't think he played preseason and he's only been active a few weeks. He did get singled out for ST play recently so maybe he's come around.

We'll see. I couldn't be more impressed with the DC and staff. Oh so quietly done the best coaching football.
