Unfortunately I believe that the contract still counts against the Redskins' cap.

This is correct. As morbidly horrible as it sounds, his salary is considered part of the 'Skins dead cap money.

Agreed.
He wasn't married, just engaged. I imagine any guaranteed money would go to his next of kin, which should be his daughter.Dan Snyder made sure a memorial trust fund was established and kicked it off with $500,000. By all accounts he's made sure, through this and other means, that Taylor's fiancee and child will not be lacking money for a long time.
