Seattle may part ways with Alexander today (1 Viewer)

950 KJR AM sports radio out of Seattle reported today that Shaun Alexander will be cut today (source is a relative of Shaun). John Clayton came on air and stated that all of this is based on Shaun Alexander passing or failing a physical that he is taking today. When he passes the physical he can be released, if he is released while injured it will cause a greater cap hit. It’s just a matter of time at this point.

interesting timing of this. a couple friends and i were just discussing this and we figured it ws based on injury and a physical. Speculated also that maybe he and JJ would be the RBBC with Duckett the backup and morris gone....

I'd be a little surprised if they cut him before the draft. Maybe they're doing him a favor of giving him a chance to sign with someone else before this weekend.

Being a dynasty Alexander owner, this couldn't happen soon enough.

I think its obvious that he won't land a starting gig at this point, but he could be very servicable in a RBBC.

Off the top of my head, I could see him being used in a RBBC in New England, Cincy, Pittsburgh, Philly.

I agree with all of these except Cincy. They already have Rudi in the same style. The other 3 teams could really use him to balance their starters.

I never understood the logic here. In threory I suppose it "protects" the player from being cut while injured, but has it ever really helped anyone?Alexander/Westbrook could be intriguing, but watch Detroit sign him.

Shaun Alexander was in West Palm Beach, FL with a bunch of Pats last week in a community event headed by NE's Heath Evans, an Auburn grad. It was apparently to benefit some of the local HS football programs. But Evans, Faulk, Maroney, Vince Wilfork and Ben Watson were all there among others, in addition to Alexander. Not that it really means much. Just that they were hanging together and it would seem a slight possibility that if Alexander is healthy enough to play, he may give NE some consideration. He's apparently fairly tight with a few of their guys. And the Pats were hurting a little at RB last year after Morris went down for the season.

Really? SA is from Northern Kentucky and he might get more playing time than any of those other teams listed if Rudy isn't 100%.

I realize he is on the downside of his career, but I don't think we have to just assume he is RBBC material right now....probably a few teams that would like to bring him as the primary back.....assuming some think he can bounce back after a down year.......

no particular order

Add Chicago to this list.
