Q: RicO was wondering about Maurice Morris, and what happened to him in practice on Monday.
A: Morris did not practice, but is expected to be on the field tomorrow when the players return from their off day. Morris has not played since spraining a knee in the season opener, which has allowed Julius Jones to step in as the starter and take advantage of the opportunity the past two games.
As productive as Jones has been, the coaches still plan to use both backs because they don't want the undersized duo wearing down as the season progresses. As Morris put it prior to the opener, "It is a long season. So it's better to have two fresh backs than one broken-down back."
How this co-starter, job-sharing approach will work remains to be seen. Because Morris was hurt in the opener, they have yet to both backs available for an entire game. But Holmgren has said that Morris will step into the role Duckett served against the Rams, with Duckett returning to his short-yardage/goal-line duty.
