George: Was that wrong? Should I have not done that? I tell you I gotta plead ignorance on this thing because if anyone had said anything to me at all when I first started here that that sort of thing was frowned upon, you know, cause I’ve worked in a lot of offices and I tell you people do that all the time.

Kramer: “You’re wasting your life.”
George: “I am not. What you call wasting, I call living. I’m living my life.”
Kramer: “OK, like what? No, tell me. Do you have a job?”
George: “No.”
Kramer: “You got money?”
George: “No.”
Kramer: “Do you have any action at all?”
George: “No.”
Kramer: “Do you have any conceivable reason for even getting up in the morning?”
George: “I like to get the Daily News.”

You’re giving me the ‘it’s not you, it’s me’ routine? I invented ‘it’s not you, it’s me.’ Nobody tells me it’s them not me; if it’s anybody, it’s me.” – George

It was mentioned in another thread, but the show on Netflix in 4K is tremendous visually. They had a great set decorator, all bright and vivid colors. Jerry's cereal boxes, his Superman figurines, the Costanza's kitchen.

Another noticeable thing is how the camera expands the scope of the shots. I assume it has something to do with the aspect ratio of the film. In the regular broadcasts there were shots that were close-ups, but now you can see at the very edge of the screen, the other characters. It is not a big deal for most of the scenes, but there are a few where you can see the other actors trying not to laugh.

Most notably, in the Merv Griffin episode. When Michael Richards went to his index cards, Julia and Jason on his left and Wayne Knight on his right could barely keep it in.

Mike Douglas show were another episode WAY better than "Soup Nazi" - which are the most overrated episode ever - hell, if it weren't for Kramer and the "street toughs", it would eat donkey nutz supreme, with zero redeeming qualities.

George: So, uh, Steven.. I see you're president of the chess club.
Steven: State champs.
George: Who's your favorite chess player?
Steven: [mumbles] Nastercoff?
George: Right. [mumbles] Nastercoff. What country is he from, again?
Steven: [sighs] I don't know. I made it up. [gets up to leave] I'm never gonna get this thing.
George: [gets up] Whoa, whoa, whoa. What are you telling me for? You really had me going, there! Come on, sit down. What do you want to do when you grow up?
Steven: I've been telling people that I'd like to be an architect.

Elaine Benes : What about ponies, huh? What kind of abnormal animal is that? And those kids who had their own ponies.

Jerry Seinfeld : Oh, I know. I hated those kids. In fact, I hate anyone that ever had a pony when they were growing up.

Manya : I had a pony.

Jerry Seinfeld : Well, I didn't really mean a pony per se.

Jerry and Kramer exchange apartments…. And personalities.

Kramer visits dentist, wears jimmy shoes… becomes poster boy for Mel torme

George stops having sex and cures cancer

In honor of tonight's All-Star game, Kramer describing his experience at Yankees fantasy camp.

Kramer: We were playing a game and I was pitching, and I was really, you know, throwing some smoke. Joe Pepitone, he was up, and man, that guy you know, he was crowding the plate.

Jerry: Wow, Joe Pepitone

Kramer: Joe Pepitone or not, I own the inside of that plate. So, I throw one inside, you know, a little chin music, put him right on his pants, cause I got to intimidate when I'm on the mound. Well, the next pitch, he's right back on the same place. So, I had to plunk him.

Jerry: You plunked him?

Kramer: Oh yeah. He throws down his bat, he comes racing up to the mound. Next thing, both benches are cleared. A brouhaha breaks out between the guys in the camp and the old Yankee players. And as I'm trying to get Moose Skowron off of one of my teammates, somebody pulls me from behind, you know, and I turned around and I popped him. I looked down and, whoaaaaa man, it's Mickey. I punched his lights out.

The India episode always gets me. Watching Kramer's lolipop keep getting bigger, George demanding reparations from Elaine, Elaine's vault combination, and just the other little subtilties of the reverse timing of the show was awesome. So well done.
Yep, first time I saw it in the 90s, it didn't work for me. Not sure why, just didn't care much for it. So for years I generally avoided it. I rewatched over COVID when my wife (for the first time somehow) went through every Seinfeld episode. I couldn't believe how friggin funny the India episode was.

I think The Jimmy might be my favorite episode, although I also think The Stall (not a square to spare) and The Marine Biologist may be the best pair to air consecutively.

ya know, speaking of Gertz ... that's another great one-off character episode that also beats the stupidly overrated soup nazi ... and it's a double dip, 'cuz we also get Dan Cortes as Elaine's "Himbo"

STEP OFF, GEORGE!

top 5 of that ilk, in order:

1. Bookman - perhaps the greatest sustained laughs ever for me ... kills it

2. the Doorman - Larry Miller is so hilariously creepy

3. the Moihl - I'LL SLICE YOU UP LIKE A STURGEON!

4. Ray Thomas/Rava - another double dip ... SHE'S FROM FINLAND, FOR GOD'S SAKE ... FINLAND!

5. the aforementioned Gertz/Cortes combo

ALL beat the living s*** outta that soup nazi guy.

Elaine's drunken, "Good night, Jugdish," followed by her laugh, is one of JLD's best moments in the entire series.

Three of the best episodes right there (The Jimmy, The Stall, The Marine Biologist), although my list of favorite Seinfeld episodes is long. It's nearly impossible to narrow it down to a single best one.

damn, Jimmy one-off episode gotta be #6 for me - good lookin' out 🤘

ETA: Tor Eckman right on Jimmy's heels ...

Soup Nazi was awesome, but it's hard to top Bookman for one-episode characters (the finale notwithstanding).

We also cannot forget the un-seen Bubble Boy. "I'm gonna kick your ***!"

it's not necessarily a bad episode/character ... just too overrated - plenty of other one offs beat it easily, imo - besides the 9 or so i already listed (Bookman, Doorman, Moihl, Ray/Rava, Gertz/Cortes, Hatcher, Tor Eckman, Hernandez, Jimmy) we also got the low talker, Chilkis, Reinhold (the close talker) ... all episodes/one offs that are way better than SN, imo

Often times, the greatness in a one-off is found in how the main characters interact with said character. I mean, Soup Nazi's "you're pushing your luck, little man" line to George is pure awesomeness, but the behavior of everyone in that episode in his place of business was just hysterical, from Elaine's initial banging her hands on the glass to Newman's stiff "I don't want to make him mad" behavior to Kramer's nod to Newman for doing it right to Elaine's revenge at the end. The presence of Soup Nazi elevated everyone.

Easily The Contest.

George's mom giving him #### in the hospital is underrated funny.

Touching on that subject without saying the word, and making fun of something everyone can laugh about that everyone does is really great, and not something that happens a lot.

Kramer with that look on his face, heading back to his apartment to rub one out, the tying in together of the Virgin and JFK Jr.

Perfect
