Sell me on Mike Willams (TB) (1 Viewer)

Regarding the Week 6 match up v. New Orleans. Consider that the Saints have played:

Minn

SF

Atlanta

Carolina

Arizona

None of these teams have been clicking in the passing game, with maybe the exception of Atlanta. Pretty easy to look good against 4 QB that have been bad.

Perhaps you havent noticed but New Orleans is pretty banged up in their secondary. Tracy Porter is out and Robinson (Rookie is in) also saftey is getting kind of thin with the injuries. Fitzgerald had a better game than he should have as a result. I Think Mike Williams is a good play this week.

Good info!Any change in the role of Malcolm Jenkins because of this?

I think he's a good player every week right now. He's scored in every game but one and in the only game he didn't score he caught five passes. If he practices fully today he's locked into my starting lineup as always. If he's limited I'll have a decision to make but it'll be very tough to sit him considering how productive he's been.

Depends on Sharper really, I think Sharper is out this week so Jenkins will still be playing free saftey. The fact that Jenkins can also play corner and the fact that Tracy Porter is out with injury could possibly affect Jenkins down the road depending on Sharper ofcoarse. In my opinion Jenkins might be a better free safety than Sharper and keep the gig even when Sharper is healthy but that also depends on the injury situation.

From RotoWorld:

Bucs WR Mike Williams (foot strain) returned to the practice field on Friday.

Coach Raheem Morris has expressed no concern with Williams missing Sunday's game against the Saints. Barring a setback he should be active as Josh Freeman's No. 1 receiver.

Sharpers leadership and presence and flat out ability on the field is why that will never happen. They didnt get a big season last year cuz of Jenkins my friend....no where in the ballpark on your assessment in the slightest.

We shall see, Of coarse Sharper was brilliant last year and Jenkins was also a rookie last year. Both were last year however. New season and Jenkins has been more than solid and who knows if Sharper is the same after surgery. I will be glad to have Sharper back whether he is the starter or not. We need players in our secondary. Also for this Tampa Bay game I just heard a snipit on the radio where Sean Payton said Gay was also out this game. Thats two corners out leaving only Greer from the original starting cast.

Still no word on whether (or how much) Mike practiced today (Friday)... CBS (on my league's main page under My Player News) says he's a gametime decision, but I find that odd before his practice participation is not yet known (at least that I can find).

From Rotoworld:

The Bucs announced Friday that Mike Williams (questionable, foot) will be a game-day decision for Week 6.Williams' activity (or lack thereof) will apparently be decided in pre-game warmups. Indications out of Tampa Bay are still that he's likely to play against the Saints, though we won't know for sure until roughly noon ET Sunday. Should Williams surprisingly not play, Kellen Winslow would likely dominate targets. Rookie Arrelious Benn could also see a bigger role.
ETA: Thanksfully he plays a noon game, so if he is inactive we will know in time to get another option into the lineup.

This is from Yahoo and according to them he was "running and stretching" with the team Friday.

"Oct 15 Williams (foot) is running and stretching with the team Friday and will likely practice in some capacity, the Buccaneers' official site reports.

Recommendation: This is pretty preliminary information, so take it for what it's worth, but it's an encouraging sign after Williams missed Thursday's practice entirely. We'll know more after the team releases its official injury report Friday afternoon. "

Another update. Looks like he ran routes Friday.

"Oct 15 Williams (foot) ran a few routes Friday and is officially listed as questionable, the St. Petersburg Times reports.

Recommendation: It sounds like he will be able to play Sunday versus the Saints, but it's not a given. Check back closer to kickoff to be sure Williams is active."

Harper has a hammy injury also. the defensive secondary is officially a skeleton crew. and for what it's worth, I think Jenkins has been playing well too, and it's not a forgone conclusion that Sharper will jump back into the starting FS spot right away.

With the Saints defense decimated by injuries, start all your offensive Buccs. Tampa Mike, if he plays and I assume he will with it being a pretty big game, will show why he is the rookie wr to own.... If he dont play, Winslow will be the hot ww pickup next week. :bag:

I predict a shootout, but what do I know...I know the Saints need to stop handing off to Ladell Betts.... WTF is that!

Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Mike Williams questionable for New Orleans Saints

By Rick Stroud, Times Staff Writer

Posted: Oct 15, 2010 03:07 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie receiver Mike Williams ran a few routes on Friday, but the team still listed him as questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints with a foot injury.

Williams leads the Bucs with 19 catches for 238 yards and three touchdowns. Despite his status, coach Raheem Morris still sounded confident Friday that Williams would play.

"He's got a little foot issue,'' Morris said. "He's had some problems running this week and he's been out there on a limited basis a little bit this week. We missed him for one day and we have to list his game status. He'll be one of those decisions you've got to make in the training room. We've got a walk-through tomorrow and some of those things we've got to deal with. Hopefully, we'll get him out there and be ready to go.

"He looked good. He went out there, he ran a couple of routes. But you're talking about a receiver. You're talking about the delicasy of a foot. You're talking about a speed, skill position and being able to go out there and be 100 percent. He's a tough guy, he's got a lot of will, he wants to play and he's young. That's part of our football team. I've still got to list his status, though.''

This is gonna be a tough call. The Saints secondary is depleted with injuries and Tampa Mike could light them up if healthy. I just don't where he is with this injury. Is it really serious or are they just resting him? Is it the same "ankle" injury that he had before the bye week or is this really a new "foot" injury? And what are we talking about here - sprain or bruise or what?

Roto says hes not a good play because hes goin against jabari greere....who cares the rest of the secondary is hurt.

GO MSW!!!

Just wanted to say thanks to the SP for this one. Wasn't a believer in this kid but picked him up based on the information here and with the exception of a couple weeks he was in my line up every week and was usually very productive. Not bad for a WW pickup.

Or for your last round pick.

At least I wasn't wrong about everything this season.

Only wish I had grabbed him in more leagues.

People were like, "Who?" when I drafted him in two leagues. One of my best picks and consistent performer.
Pretty much the same reaction I got in one of my leagues. Took him in the 10th round and one guy was laughing about how I took him before A. Benn.
Several owners in my 12 team, .5 PPR redraft were aware of him, and were targeting him late. I happened to like him more than the other owners, so I reached for him in the 12th Rd. One owner cursed me as he was gonna take him in the 13th. This is a start 3 WR league, and I've started him every week. A great WR3, & very solid as a WR2.

I had to write him in on a blank sticker at our draft. Started for the title, Blount and MW basically won it all.I can honestly say, after writing in Slaton his rookie year, and Mike Williams this year - writing in a guy on the board and then having him as an integral part of your title is the best feeling in the world. The best.I only wish I didn't trade all of my rookie draft picks away every year in dynasty leagues - I only have him in one....
