Selvin Young (1 Viewer)

What should we expect tonight? Will he carry the full load? Will he be spelled down at the goal line by Cecil or Bell? Post thoughts, please.

I bet they use all their running backs.

I think Young will bog down as a full time back and put up mediocre numbers.

From Roto

ESPN's Michelle Tafoya reports Selvin Young will start Monday night against Green Bay. Travis Henry will be inactive.

This differs from a Sal Paolantonio report from earlier Monday. Consider it official when the Broncos release their inactive players, which should happen shortly. Young is a strong fantasy play with Henry out, although the Broncos beat writers believe Andre Hall could also be in line for a large role.

1st career start going against a strong Run D & Denver missing a key piece of their passing game with Walker to help open up their running game.

Adjust expectations accordingly.

Hazarding a guesstimate - 83 rushing yards - 3 recpts for 22 yards - 37.5% chance of 1 TD.

I predict:

13/56 2/18 0.3 TD

Young will be good...but not against this defense. They've allowed 1 rushing TD and only 100 yards rushing to one team.

Have to decide on Young or Jennings at flex.

Young does have breakaway speed and moves for the short pass game

Is Hall active?
Travis Henry (ribs) is inactive Monday night's game against the Packers. Young will start in his place.Spin: If you're lucky enough to own both Henry and Young and can still swap the two, get Young in there. He'll get the bulk of the carries against Green Bay's tough defensive front, while Andre Hall serves as a change-of-pace back.[breaking News] RotoWire

Denver Broncos:

Inactives: RB Travis Henry, WR Javon Walker, RB Mike Bell, DT Amon Gordon, DE Jarvis Moss, DB Jeff Shoate, DT Isaac Snell

Green Bay Packers

Inactives: CB Will Blackmon, TE Bubba Franks, DT Justin Harrell, RB Brandon Jackson, DT Mike Montgomery, DT Daniel Muir, DB Frank Walker

Jesus get a radio.
Sorry for having a life and taking care of my daughter. Jesus get a life.
Quick! get off this board I think your daughter just swallowed a quarter. You are wasting valuable parenting time hitting refresh, while all along you could have been changing diapers and listening to the radio. Last time I post a helpful hint.
Totally uncalled for
Agreed. Both are gone for the day.J

As a Travis Henry owner I have a hard time expecting a Denver tailback to score a TD. Play-action from the 2 is the Shanny way.
Maybe, but I actually think that this could open up a different element in the game, as Selvin is a bit more shifty in the flat and seems to catch more passes. But maybe that is also becasue he has been the change of pace back and in on more passing situational downs? Regardless, I am glad the decision has been made for me.Edit: Just saw that Bell was inactive; cuts down on one more cog in the possible RBBC, no?

Bit of a hijack here, but oh well. Do we know for a fact that Champ will be on Driver all night? I can start James Jones in his place if I believe Champ will be smothering Driver. And before people start whining about a WDIS post, I'm not asking that. I'm asking more knowledgeable posters if they think the Denver scheme will call for Champ to lock onto Driver, or is he no longer the type of WR that warrants that type of attention. Thanks all.

When healthy, he is an elite shutdown corner and would be covering Driver. But if he is not 100% they may opt for more zones and press coverage with over the top help from the safeties. I do not see him covering the slot receiver or the third receiver in three WR sets. I would assume that James is a safe play, but not sure what to expect. Not sure if that helps.

Perhaps "Jesus get a radio" is not as helpful as you imagine.

:rolleyes:the Pack tends to struggle against guys they haven't seen before. seems like anytime a backup starts they surrender big numbers. i hope that doesn't happen tonite.

Wasn't that like 3 years ago?

OK. it's not like they've faced 7 rookie/2nd/3rd string RBs this year.the part about "anytime a backup starts" hints at a historical perspective. working off memory here.. i'm sure there are guys in here with better memories than i who can point to games where got shocked by backups. :football: i didn't make it up.

Alll nonsense aside, this will answer several questions. If Young performs well, then he should get the bulk of the carries when the suspension takes place (or perhaps even before). In fact, if Young gets 20+ carries and 100 yrds, he could be a major playoff steal for those of us who have been patient enough to hang on to him, a ticket to the championship...

On the other hand, if Young struggles, he may not get another chance, it might be rbbc from here on in. Or maybe Hall will become the main guy.

Go, Selvin!!!!

i have all 3 my Denver RBs in 2 dynasty leagues. Once Henry is suspended, I hope Hall or Young emerge as the #1 RB so it is not RBBC

I'm going to bench Selvin until he can prove himself. I'm too far behind in my game to take a chance. Marshall and Driver should do well. Young's variability for this game is too drastic. Young also has Sapp and Hall to contend with. If Young does great tonight, super! If not, no big deal. If people have a more proven option, they should stick with that option for tonight.

i'm glad to see bell is out. one less rbbc mouth to feed. andre hall will get some work but hopefully this'll be the selvin show in all situations, as he's apparently a good pass-catcher out of backfield. fingers crossed he puts up 50-70yds rush, couple receptions for 15-20 yds, and maybe a td, would be gravy. i'm benching james jones for him......

GB DEF averages about 100 yards rushing per game.

They allowed 155 to MIN but held SDC to 73.

Since the game is in Denver at a higher altitude, I think Denver can do OK.

They did OK against PIT last game (in DEN).

I have ALL of the DEN guys in one of my leagues and Young in another, so I am a bit hopeful here.

Realistically, I think this is how it will be ...

Young = 20 carries, 80 yards, 1 TD

Hall = 8 carries, 32 yards, 0 TD

Sapp = 5 carries, 15 yards, 0 TD

I really hate The Rat.

Young fails on ONE carry inside the 5, and now he'll evidently never get another one. :hot:
He was in on the second series at the goal line and Cutler fumbled the ball. For the record, it was a running play.
I initially thought the same thing. But I watched it on Tivo about ten times. Everyone up front cut-blocked to make it look like a run. But Cutler clearly came up from under center looking to his left in a passing posture (BEFORE realizing he didn't have the ball secured), and the WR to the left pushed off the CB quickly, then turned to look for the ball.

Looks to have some vision and speed. Fights for yards. Can make the first guy miss.

Fits the one cut and run down hill scheme. A couple of his runs where he was stopped were one cut into a LB. More a failure of the O line v Selvin.

He is being used in the passing game (ppr), is in on third downs and at the goal line.

Bronco homer and SY owner.

his carry at the goalline was blown up by a lineman....Young could have done nothing. and Young didn't come out at the goalline unless he was winded

He looked damn good. I dont think any SY owners are unhappy by this game...and most are probably pleasantly surprised after the last few weeks of wasting a bench spot. At the very least he can be sold for something now.
