Irvin would be regarded as the one the greatest ever if he had Peyton throwing to him his entire career. Don't forget his career was ended early with a neck injury.

Irvin :thumbup:
Yeah, that Aikman guy was a bum. :X Think how much better Harrison would be if he could push off half as well as Irvin.
Aikman is considered one of the greatest QB's of his era. Manning will go down as the greatest QB in history. Manning made Brandon Stokely look good. This is no disrespect for Harrison, I love the guy and have him on two of my FF teams. But you can't dispute Irvin's pedigree.

1. Set school records (U of Miami) for career receptions (143), receiving yards (2,423) and touchdown receptions (26).

2. Won national championship in 1987.

3. Won three Super Bowls.

4. Super Bowl MVP in 1992.

5. Third all time with 47 - 100 yard receiving yard games (Jerry Rice 65, Don Maynard 50)

6. Second all time in post season receptions (87). Jerry Rice first with 151.

7. Second all time in post season receiving yards (1315) again Jerry Rice being first with 2245.

8. Second all time with 6 - 100 yard receiving games in the post season, Rice being first with 8.

This is all with an injury shortened carrer.

Harrison = :thumbup:

Irvin = :bow:
Yes, he spent much of his college and pro career on loaded teams that had a lot of success and played a lot of post season games. That doesn't make him a better WR.And the injury shortened career doesn't mean much when he's still played more years than Harrison.
Removing the team accomplishments, which players obviously helped but were not single handedly responsible for, we have:1. Set school records (U of Miami) for career receptions (143), receiving yards (2,423) and touchdown receptions (26).

2. Fourth all time with 47 - 100 yard receiving yard games (Jerry Rice 65, Marvin Harrison 55, Don Maynard 50)

Seeing that Harrison also set school records (with a much inferior QB - Charlie Ward I believe), I'd say that those figures only support that Harrison is the better WR.

Voted Harrison.The one area where Irvin is clearly better than Harrison is "clutch" play. I know that's tough to define but if I had the ball at the 10 down by 5 in the 4th quarter of a Super Bowl I'd take Michael Irvin over Marvin Harrison.
well sure - you gotta go with the guy that gets the special treatment.he'd be wide open since the refs would allow his patented push off.we saw how the refs allowed the Pats to mug Harrison
This is the lamest excuse of all that every Irvin hater holds onto! Look at film...it was much more of a swatting away than a push-off and ya know....who gives two sh*ts?!?! Maybe if it was your favorite WR trying to gain that edge, it wouldn't be such a big deal.There is much more that goes into this beyond statistics. I htink you need to look at work ethic, talent, what the player meant/means to his team, etc.I vote Harrison...but its much more close than many are assuming.

IMO, you ask any player or coach in the league who'd they'd rather have as a teammate, 9 out of 10 pick Harrison. Equally talented, maybe in slightly different ways, but Harrison is a better team-guy. Irvin would never have handled the emergence of Reggie Wayne like Harrison has.
