Sharkpool Mock Draft... (1 Viewer)

One of the main reasons I chose Cutler was the schedule. Check this out.

Week 3: at Seattle Seahawk

Week 4: vs. Detroit Lions

Week 5: at Atlanta Falcons

Week 7: at Cincinnati Bengals

Week 8: vs. Cleveland Browns

Week 9 vs. Arizona Cardinals

Week 10: at San Francisco 49ers

Week 13 vs. St. Louis Rams

that's 8 match ups I see he could do some serious damage. I guess we'll see.

7.10 Willie Parker - Could be RBBC with Mendenhall and Moore but I like FWP and think he'll get the majority of the touches as long as he's healthy. Reading today that Bush is only 75% right now makes me think I have to add some depth at RB.

8.1 Felix Jones - I thought about backup QB here but really I see a big mash of similar names on the QB list at this point. Felix on the other hand is a true talent and while MBIII is clearly the man I think Dallas is going to find creative ways to get Felix more involved, especially in the passing game. I see him as having similar talent as Chris Johnson and Steve Slaton but obviously his situation makes him and eighth rounder instead of a second rounder.

7.9 cedric bensoni really thought i would try to grab a WR here, but I think Benson holds more value than boards are giving him credit for. as of now he's the RB1 on the Bengals, and in the last 5 weeks of the season he was one of the top backs, and even helped many guys to a title over the last 3 weeks.I really need to address other needs, i think i am done with RB until the end of the draft
I was hoping to grab Benson instead of Parker but in the end it may be a blessing in disguise. I mean is Benson really gonna resurge? And as a Bungle? That doubt aside, getting a legit starting RB who is on a decent offense and not in an RBBC at this stage of the draft seems like a big time value.

8.2 Anthony Gonzalez

This kid can play. With no Marvin harrison someone has to pick up the targets, and I think this 3rd year WR is primed for a huge season.

So my roster looks like:

Brees

Gore

Benson

Lynch

LJ

Marshall

Welker

A. Gonzalez

I wonder how these guys will do over a full season,

Boom or Bust pick here.

WR Santana Moss, Washington

Definitely has potential in DC this year, and a BIG sleeper this year IMO. Washington's schedule last year was brutal, but Moss lit up the not so good teams.

NO - 7 catches, 164 yards, TD

Detroit - 9 catches, 140 yards, TD

Dallas - 8 catches, 145 yards, TD

Zona - 7 catches, 75 yards, TD

Cleveland - 4 catches, 75 yards, TD

Cinci... - 7 catches, 72 yards, TD

Then he predictably got next to nothing against teams like Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and of course Philly.

As for the 2009 schedule?

Detroit

STL

Carolina

KC

Dallas twice

N.O.

Oakland

S.D.

I'm not saying it's an easy schedule for the Skins in 2009, but it's easier than 2008's schedule, which I think we could see an improvement from Moss. Especially since JCamp doesn't have to learn yet ANOTHER playbook this year. Santana as my 4th WR is the way to go here in round 8.

My prediction for Moss this year. 80 catches, 1100 yards, 6-8 TDs...

My team through 8 rounds:

QB Jay Cutler

RB Westbrook

RB Kevin Smith

RB Ryan Grant

WR Andre Johnson

WR Dwayne Bowe

WR TJ Housh..

WR Santana Moss

8.2 Anthony Gonzalez
Late 7th round/early 8th and no reason Parker can't be a very good #2 RB, esp with PIT's very weak schedule.I like Felix Jones in a PPR...he's my keeper in a rookie keeper league. I like the A. Gonzalez pick alot. Grabbed him in both my leagues last year. When IND has a tough opponent (ie, Wayne is locked down), Gonzalez gets a ton of passes over the middle. Peyton trusts him.

8.05 Lee Evans

i see an improved offense in the bills with addition of TO. Maybe a situation where Evans can thrive. the rbs pickings are getting slimmer

through 8:

Rivers

Brown

Jacobs

Addai

Fitz

Megatron

D. Jackson

Lee Evans

8.07 Leon Washington

Return points helps a lot here and I think his role in the offense will grow.

Tom Brady

Matt Forte

Derrick Ward

Donald Brown

Leon Washington

Marques Colston

Chad Johnson

Dallas Clark

My strategy for bench/depth is always to go with solid, dependable guys that are

a) durable

b) consistent

So, 8.08 = Donald Driver

Not a lot of "upside" but I believe he is a solid WR3 and makes a great WR4 for my lineup. At least 70-1000 6 of the last 7 years. Missed 2 games in the last 7 years. Good QB, excellent #1 in Jennings to draw the top CB, average to poor D that forces GB to score. If Jennings (who is my #1 WR) goes down DD is huge.

Breaston had 77 catches for 1007 yards and enters only his third year. The Cardinals lost Edge James and JJ Arrington, which should solidify Breastons opportunities as the 3rd option on a team that was 2nd in the NFL in attempts and 1st in completions. While I dont think a fancy number of touchdowns is likely with Boldin and Fitzgerald around, he should be able to push his number up to a half dozen or so.And Breatson did have over 900 total yards in returns... and their leading kick return man of last year, JJ Arrington, is gone. Oh... and did I mention that I have Boldin? :lmao:
Both excellent points. I had him on my short list of quality late-round WR that have great upside. He is one of the few WR-handcuffs...I had him last year with Boldin, and he was plug and play when Boldin was out, and good when Boldin was in.

8.09 B. Berrian

Lots of what ifs...but he had some great games last year. More upside if Fav-rah comes back, and I don't mind Sage chunking him the ball either.

I probably would have taken (in order of preference) A. Gonzalez, Breaston, Evans, Ward. Lots of sharks here, and noone's dropping.

I thought about backup QB here
 You dont have a starting QB yet. What do you mean by "backup"?You can make a change anytime before eefflrat picks, should you so desire.
My bad. I meant QB, not backup QB. I guess in my mind all the remaining names are of backup quality and thus the error in wording.Once Cutler was gone, I saw no value in taking any of the remaining names as I value them all pretty much evenly and the next tier is huge.

While I certainly understand the drop-off you encountered, I would be of the idea that you would want the top 2 guys off your choice from that next grouping. If you really dont like anyone better then anyone else, and thus it doesnt matter, I undertsand. But it seems as if you would have your preference and would select them at such a important and high scoring position position. Instead of risking it to pure left-overs.
None of the remaining names did anything for me.I saw much more value at that point in grabbing a reliable (somewhat) backup to Bush in Fast Willie and an up and coming young stud in Felix to shore up my RB corps.

How many people have a FBG subscription, and how many using Draft Dominator?I have been a follower of FBG/Sharkpool/The Audible for about 3 years, but first time subscriber this year. The Draft Dominator App is amazing.
I'm old school... the draft dominator does nothing but slow me down. My draft set up is very refined.
I think the Draft Dominator App is a great tool... it's like sex with a condom. If money's involved it's a good idea to use it.However, I prefer to feel the draft unfold... like knowing how to "kill the bunny." :bag:

Ok You guys took all the WRs so I have to get creative here, I thought about going another position but I don't want to get cute. If this was a real draft I probably would go away from WR, QB or RB for trade bait.

8.10 ratbast - Devin Hester, with Cutler there he could take a step up and he still is part of the return game.

9.1 ratbast - Mr. Crabtree, I don't like that he's still gimpy and no I don't like his QBs but I am a believer in his ability, so I'll take the rook.

Just so everyone knows, I signed up because it was a slow draft and even wanted an end pick for the same reason. I work all kinds of odd hours, today 6AM-6:30Pm ET, so please understand. I have PMd my picks when they are close but when I checked in this AM we were waiting on 8.2 and I felt that that was a decent amount of picks before 8:10 to not send a PM, especially since the only one I could have sent it to was LawFitz. So please cut me some slack will ya? Unless you are just goofing off then carry on of course.

Assessing my mock, I really don't like the Cotchery pick. Guys I was really interested in were DJax, HWard, Evans, Breaston, LMoore and Berrian. I really don't know why I went Cotch. I went with Crabtree and Hester because I have interest in them. They might be more WR 4s but Im not going to find my WR2 anyway so I wanted to just get a few that I liked.

I will probably continue to build depth there to make sure I field some competitive WRs hoping at least 1 pops.

Manning

ADP

Wayne

Witten

OK, I came back and read my own post and that's sounds  Sorry fellas, it's been a rough couple of days.

Sarcasm... It's the one thing that message boards cannot capture, unfortunately. It also can't identify who's medicated or not.In regards to my posting for the next day or two... side effects may include:

Drowsiness, Dry Mouth, Fatigue, Headache, Asthenia, Nausea, Constipation, Dyspepsia, Unpleasant taste, Blurred vision, Headache, Nervousness, and Confusion.

Thank God that leakage thing wasn't on the sheet... :goodposting:

I never said it wasnt a great tool. In fact, the Draft Dominator is a superior tool. But it does me no good. It's actually a hindrance for me. Though im sure its great for many others.
Sorry, didn't clarify... I prefer not using it, actually. My favorite tools for drafting are my own opinions and an understanding of value based on a limited, diminishing pool of options... I guess you could say I'm old school, too.Draft Dominator is interesting to play with from time to time, but it takes the fun out of it for me.

Now what about my picks and pick analysis?

Wow dude, been sitting here all damn day, and I go for some dinner and BLAMMO, I'm up.

9.02 M. Schaub

Now what about my picks and pick analysis?
ManningADP, PThomas, JStewartWayne, Cotchery, Hester, CrabtreeWittenI like how your team is coming together. With Manning, Wayne, and Witten you have Tier 1 guys with no issues of injuries (knock on wood). ADP...hard to argue with that. The 3 WR thing is tough, but you have WRs on my list with Cotchery and Crabtree. Grab a couple more and play WR roulette each week based on matchups.

My patience was rewarded after having used my last 2 picks to get my backup RB (RB3) and backup WR (WR4). To finish up my starting lineup, I need a warrior.

9.03 - Kellen Winslow Jr.

New team, new QB, new coach...but when healthy a top 5 TE talent wise and with only A. Bryant getting more targets than KWII I see 70 catches as a real possibility.

Lineup now set with TJones and Driver as damn good reserves. Like the look of this team so far!

Now what about my picks and pick analysis?
play WR roulette each week based on matchups.
Not sure this is the game you want to play with a mandatory 3WR lineup?
He's solid at QB, 2 RBs spots, TE, and his #1WR... Most teams you'll have to juggle and play matchups at some position. He's got 2 WR spots to fill, and if he's doing that from 4-5 choices, I don't think it's terrible. Plus, the guys he has have had success; so they are not total gambles.

9.03 - Kellen Winslow Jr.
I like the pick, assuming he stays healthy. McNabbSJax, Slaton, TJonesJennings, BEdwards, Roy Williams, DriverWinslowOn the rest of your team...looks good. I am concerned with SJax and his injuries the last couple of years. Same is true of McNabb, though I will take a chance on him this year with all that new talent around him. I can see Slaton EITHER getting spelled more or breaking down...just don't think he can last the season. Think you saw my concerns with Roy earlier...but he could be a good #2WR. I don't love having Driver/Jennings, because I don't see the weeks you'd play both, but Jennings is a very good WR and Driver is still a good WR (had good recept totals last year, despite being a #2. I like the B.Edwards pick also...he was going much higher last year. I think he could be a very good value.

Hey guys sorry if I held it up this morning.

I'll go with Matt Ryan

Too much value to let him hang around anymore and I think it would be wise to have a solid backup behind Brady given the injury he suffered last year. Ryan has a loaded offense and has a chance to be a big time QB.

Tom Brady, Matt Ryan

Matt Forte, Derrick Ward, Donald Brown, Leon Washington

Marques Colston, Chad Johnson

Dallas Clark

all the TE are leaving the board. better take one now. texans offense is good and as long as schaub stays upright. daniels will get some looks.

Last two picks were exactly who I was aiming for! :banned:

Need a solid TE to anchor my squad.

TE Chris Cooley, Wash.

Cooley has been a top 8 TE for four consecutive years in a row. He'll make it five in 2009! :banned:

QB Cutler

RB Westbrook

RB Kevin Smith

RB Ryan Grant

WR Andre Johnson

WR Dwayne Bowe

WR TJ Housh...

WR Santana Moss

TE Chris Cooley

Watching these TEs go in this round has reminded me why I do not draft TEs high unless it's a mock draft. In fact, there are a couple things I tried here just because it was a mock that I would not do otherwise.

I am thinking just the opposite. As I mentioned a few days back, in my league, the teams with the quality TE were at the top of the league. Last year was terrible for TE (picking them late and/or playing matchups).I am more tempted this year to have one very good TE or two decent ones to play matchups. RBs are deeeeep.

QB CutlerRB Westbrook, Kevin Smith, Ryan GrantWR Andre Johnson, Dwayne Bowe, TJ Housh, Santana MossTE Chris Cooley
I have to say, I really like your team and where you got them. The WR are probably the 3 WR I would want, if I could just straight up choose. I think Westbrook is a big risk but also has alot of upside. The upside of the other two RBs is great.

9.9 Torry Holt

Well, i was hoping to get Daniels or winslow on this turn....

now that neither are available I think I will just add to the WR core that I have. Not a lot or #1 on their team WR's out there, so I think Torry Holt is as good a shot as any other

Yea, I think I have a lot of value on my team. Can't believe how far Cutler, Westy, and Ryan Grant fell. Westy when healthy is a top 3 RB in PPR. I had him last year and absolutely LOVED him. I know he has injury concerns, but it's worth the risk at pick 8 if you ask me? Those are my favorite picks so far. I know Cuter has some question marks being with a new team with not a lot of weapons, but defenses are going to be looking to stop Forte this year IMO. That's going to loosen up some coverage on TE's and WRs hopefully. I've already stated, Im not a big fan of his this year, but for what round I got him in, I definitely got some value with him. I really like Bowe and Grant this year as break-out candidates. Bowe is slowly creeping into WR1 territory and I don't think Grant's 2007 finish was a fluke.Like my team overall. :goodposting:
