Shaun Alexander (1 Viewer)

Polish Hammer

made of glass
I know he is out for this week, and everyone seems to assume he'll be a definite go next week. What is this conclusion being drawn from? I know recently the "Lis Franc" thing was being tossed around, but that has quieted. Any insight from Seattle homers?

Full disclosure: I acquired SA while he is out and am considering moving him before he comes back for a premiere non-RB.

surprised no one else has started a thread on this....
You'll be shocked to know I did a search on both "Shaun" and "Alexander" and didn't find anything on the first page of results that reflected what I was seeking. Of course maybe I could have gone past page 1 of the results....but I'm lazy.

HAWK TALK: Running back Shaun Alexander spent practice in the training room getting treatment on the cracked bone in his left foot. Alexander said he thought he could play if this were the postseason, but coach Mike Holmgren has said Alexander will not return until the crack has healed completely. ...
Seattle PITake it for what it's worth. This is a guy who claimed that the Lord healed his foot so he could play football against the Bears. Science obviously proved that wrong.

The good news is, he's making progress, but I still wouldn't count him in unless Holmy says he's playing.

A guy in one of my leagues sent me this tidbit in an email yesterday:

Shaun’s Healing Powers In Question? Our sources say that despite reports earlier this week that Shaun Alexander could return for Seattle’s week seven match-up against the Vikings, that his cracked bone in his left foot isn’t in fact healing at a superhuman rate and that he could actually be held out much longer than just this week’s game against the Rams. Apparently the type of injury Alexander has is one that will nag him for the rest of his career. Mo Morris is a good fantasy play this week against St. Louis, but not next week against Minnesota. Alexander’s dynasty and keeper league owners my want to think about selling high.

I'm not sure where he found this, no links, and I suspect it's BS. I didn't see it on any of the websites I visit or any threads about Shaun yesterday on this message board, so I don't put any stock into the claim. Also this guy has been trying to get me to trade for Mo Morris since I'm the Shaun owner, but I'm pretty much prepared for his absence having both Bears RBs, Ronnie Brown and Maurice Jones-Drew behind him. All I've heard is he should be back for week 7, so until I hear something different I assume that will be the case.

That looks like a lot of made up BS to me....if he can't give you a link, that's what it is.

:goodposting: As a MoMo owner, I am hoping for him to play week 7 to cover for TJones/Bush

 A broken bone in a foot that completely heals will plague someone for the rest of their career and they can confidently say that? Obvious BS

Notes: Running back Shaun Alexander said he hasn't felt any pain in his foot in more than a week, and he's still targeting the Minnesota game in nine days for a possible return. "I think that if we were in the playoffs, I'd be playing," Alexander said. "But it's a broken foot, so we have to wait until it heals."

and...

Shaun Alexander told reporters Thursday that he'd be able to play this week if it were a postseason game, but it's somewhat tough to take him seriously given that it wasn't long ago he proclaimed himself "healed by prayer." Meanwhile, coach Mike Holmgren continues to say he won't play until his cracked foot is completely healed.

Alexander has already been ruled out for this week, and his status for Week 7 is far from certain. Backup Maurice Morris is a solid RB2 play in a week where he matches up with St. Louis and six teams are on their bye. Don't be scared off by Morris' weak numbers subbing for Alexander against the Bears in Week 4. He should get plenty of touches Sunday and might be more than a one-week fix.
