Thanks for the reply. I just worry, with Rex. I worry that Rex will suddenly decide that he doesn't like Greene's feet...He practiced in full all week, and he's probable. Doesn't sound like a GTD to me.![]()
406 yds with 4.32 ypc in the last 5 gamesAnd, for the season, he played only 52% of the snaps Clearly utterly mediocreToo bad he's still so utterly mediocre...& about the last option at the GL--they have Sanchise throw it inside the RZ. Still, maybe a decent flex play if LT is out. Then again, Shotty will figure out a way to get McKnight all of LT's looks, perhaps

Green has quietly been decent over the last 5 games. I am sure that if you drafted him as your RB2 it's not enough to make you happy, but he has been solid if not strong flex play recently. If LT misses time he might toy with low end RB status.406 yds with 4.32 ypc in the last 5 gamesAnd, for the season, he played only 52% of the snaps Clearly utterly mediocreToo bad he's still so utterly mediocre...& about the last option at the GL--they have Sanchise throw it inside the RZ. I mostly agree, although I wouldn't say he's not a good RB. He's OK when he gets decent blocking, he is pretty good at hitting the hole. Unfortunately, he doesn't create much yardage on his own. You're spot on about his receiving though - that's why LT is used as much as he is even at age 32.Greene just isnt' a good RB. He had a couple game stretch 2 years ago and has lived off it for years. Outside of that playoff he's had 3 100 yard rushing games in 3 years. He's a plodder with zero receiving skill (see the ball that bounced off his facemask last night).
A couple of series later LT had a ball bounce off him in a very similar way, it just happen to fall in a gap between defenders to the ground. Look, Green isn't great or likely even good, but he is a decent RB that might be in a pretty good situation. He hasn't had any big games but he also has only been under 7.5 in standard twice this year, week 1 vs Dallas and week 4 vs Baltimore. He has over 400 rushing yards in his last 5 games at 4.32 a carry. He's a pretty good RB3 right now and you could do worse if you are desperate for a RB2 due to injury.Greene just isnt' a good RB. ExactlyThe problem with the average "2011 fantasy owner" is that he recognizes only 2 tiers: Stud or ScrubThere's no middle ground anymoreLook, Green isn't great or likely even good, but he is a decent RB that might be in a pretty good situation. but can't most RBs in the NFL run well if they are running behind a top line? To me, a good RB is a RB that can run fairly well and make numbers for themselves and not have to solely rely on have a top line. He's not fast, not shifty, hasn't shown that bullish ability to break tackles and can't catch. What he has going for him is that he has zero talent behind him that they can turn to but even then when the Jets go to "ground and pound" we're looking at 20 for 80 and maybe a 25% chance of a TD. I'm getting that production from Jackie Battle.I mostly agree, although I wouldn't say he's not a good RB. He's OK when he gets decent blocking, he is pretty good at hitting the hole. the only thing Greene has is his situation and he's had it all year, has played every game and is the 26th ranked back in my league. As far as receiving talent LT>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Greene and I may be underestimating LT a bit. Greene catches the ball like a grenade that's about to go off. Look I'm as down or more on Sanchez as I am Greene as he has zero touch and is a terrible QB IMO. He didn't help the Greene flub as he threw it high and not in stride but it was more to make a point.A couple of series later LT had a ball bounce off him in a very similar way, it just happen to fall in a gap between defenders to the ground. Of course LT is a better receiving RB, but Green's problems catching the ball have been exaggerated. He has been targeted 19 times this season and converted 16 of those. Somehow he actually has the highest target conversion percentage on the Jets by a healthy margin. He is still pretty bad in spite of those numbers, but it's not like he has stone hands.the only thing Greene has is his situation and he's had it all year, has played every game and is the 26th ranked back in my league. I think it's largely because he's a complete after thought as far as the defense is concerned. Regardless, it'll never be his strong suit.Of course LT is a better receiving RB, but Green's problems catching the ball have been exaggerated. Not so sure about that - does take some tacceleration to get through a hole when it's there. As mentioned, Greene can hit the hole, but that's about where his ability begins and ends.As a Jets fan, I'd like them to start giving Powell some touches to see what he can do. Unfortunately, there's not enough roster space unless he plays special teams.but can't most RBs in the NFL run well if they are running behind a top line?I mostly agree, although I wouldn't say he's not a good RB. Greene is under contract through next year. He's only costing the Jets $565K next year. That number is low enough that if the Jets want to keep him around, maybe they give him an extension - but it's not high enough for them to dump him cause they think he's overpaid. Green will remain with the Jets through next year, but they will start giving carries to Powell to see which one they will roll with in 2013 and beyond. When is Greene's contract up? As an owner of both him and Powell in dynasty, I'd like to get a look at Powell pretty soon.
That's what I was complaining about last night; it wasn't that Greene's hands were bad. Sanchez had zero touch on those check downs, and LT had the same thing happen to him. It was frustrating to see Greene start the game with over 5 yds/carry only to see him disappear for half the game for LT.A couple of series later LT had a ball bounce off him in a very similar way, it just happen to fall in a gap between defenders to the ground.
