Shooting Another Man's Dog (1 Viewer)

Horrible dogs and horrible people that own them. Poison is right call.
I can't think of a more cowardly way to go about the situation than poisoning the dog. You are a level 10 ##### if you sneakenly kill someone's dog via poison.

The right thing to do is talk to the guy first in a civil manner. If that goes nowhere, but talk with animal control and/or police.

I figure they must have tried this. Some people just don't get resposible pet ownership. And some of those people are very scary.

Chain link fences are ugly and provide no privacy and apparently little safety from mean pit bulls. I would build a nicer, taller fence that provided privacy and was more secure from killer dogs.

Or I would just move and get away from the neighbor and all of the dogs -- actually that would probably be my first choice.

or have a spot where the dogs can dig under the fence and a bear trap is waiting on your property. say you had rodent issues?

I mean...if you wanna go that route, you may as well place a land mine under the fence. Wanna make sure that thing is dead.

Definitely the starting point. As mentioned, check with local authorities about what you're allowed to do if one of his dogs is on your property and poses a danger. Next, talk to the neighbor and tell him what you're prepared to do if his dog is on your property again.

As a teenager, we briefly lived in a rural area with friends for several months while waiting for our house to be built. One evening, I'm playing Sega in my room and hear growling, barking, and yelping. I look out my window and see two dogs attacking our friend's dog. Just as I was about to yell downstairs, I see my dad and our friend go outside and whack the two dogs with shovels. The dogs ran off towards the back of the property. They jump in his truck and less than a minute later I hear two gun shots. Maybe 15 minutes later, the neighbor comes by saying he knew his dogs got out and heard the shots. Our friend said this was the second time that guy's dogs escaped and attacked his dog. To my knowledge, this did not cause WW3 between the neighbors. I think many people understand that you will protect yourself against their attacking dogs.
