I followed the link in my email and after creating an account, verifying I was human, creating a password, verifying I was human again by picking giraffes out of photos, verifying my phone number, verifying another "Are you human" prompt, then verifying my email, and finally verifying I was human again... I was able to get in. :ROFLMAO:

Now I have no idea what to do. I'll ask my 22 year old son later. He has been all about discord for some time.

Several years ago I was using it for connecting with some gamers I was in a group with. That part was successful in that it allowed us to have a "private group conversation" outside of the "in game chat". On our team, we had a possible troll/ fake account from a group that was in competition with our top guy and was maybe trying to poach him/ troll him or was just some random superfan. It was really weird.

In the general discord chat for the game I was trying to learn more about, it was an absolute **** show of memes and folks trashing others. Most folks knew who the others in the forum were but 80% of communication consisted of pepe the frog memes and the like. It was bizarre and hard to understand. I'm sure those gamers have found new memes but coherent advancement of thought didn't seem to be the prevailing theme.

I doubt I'll give it a try again but you never know.

FWIW, Joe (I give you a lot of credit, I'm a fan and this is not meant to be bashing you), the question/ timing of starting this thread gave the impression that you were "considering it, and valued the input of this group." which clearly you were beyond "considering it" so therefore the notion that you were asking some valued resource their opinion as a component of making a decision was, in fact not how you were making the decision. I don't give a fig whether or now you consult me about having a discord but the phrasing of the question IMO could easily have been clearer, in terms of the feedback you were seeking.

"We're planning to have a discord server, do you-- a know what it is, b would plan to use" yadda yadda.

Hey hon, should we have tacos for dinner?
I dunno, burgers or Chinese sound better to me.
OK cool, thanks for your input, we're having tacos.
OK well, why'd you ask me? I don't really care that much what we have for dinner but.. why'd you ask?
I was curious about how you feel about tacos for dinner.
You find it fascinating that I'm in the mood for burgers or Chinese?
Yup. I already bought the stuff for the tacos and prepped all of the veggies.
So then why didn't you say "Hey, we're having tacos?"
I dunno, I just really was curious what you were thinking.
I would have been a lot happier if you'd just said "we're having tacos."

This Luddite signed up as well and in my initial poking around the stream of consciousness vibe as well. If im in a chat room with friends or family, thats fine. But how are we supposed to have coherent organized conversations around topics or players or whatever in that kind of format? Will my question about a dynasty trade by intertwined with a topic about the Robinson incident that will also be intertwines with random memes?

ill pop back in and out over the next few days to see if I get the hang of it but initial impressions are “it’s not for me”

Normally I would say no, as it would pull activity away from the forum. But, this forum is in a bad place anyway, so, the Discord is worth a try, I'll check it out.

I disagree on both. I doubt it'll pull much of anything from this forum. I think most people here like the way it is here. I'm thinking discord will be a new audience.

And couldn't disagree more on the forum being in a "bad place". Can you elaborate? With the new board, I think it's better than it's been in a long time.
