Should I trade Carr for Willie Snead? (1 Viewer)

10 team, standard, 2 QB league. I think I want to make the deal because I'm not playing Carr and Snead has been good and I like his potential quite a bit. I can pick up Wentz off of waivers as a back up for nothing right now. The question is who do I drop to give Wentz a spot? I just paid for Tyrell Williams so I don't really want to drop him. QB is pretty sparse with only Wentz, Gabbert, and Siemian left. Do I drop Hurns maybe? Anyways here are our teams:MY TEAM:Cam NewtonCarson PalmerDavid JohnsonMatt ForteSpencer WareMike EvansStefon DiggsDwayne AllenTexansCatanzaroBENCHDerek CarrJeremy LangfordAllen HurnsTyrell WilliamsTheo RiddickRandall CobbChris IvoryTyler EiffertHIS TEAMRiversMccoyD WilliamsCooksHopkinsDezLandryOlsonBills D BaileyBENCHM JonesD ParkerFunchessSneadStarksThomas Booker

I should also mention that the 2nd QB spot is an OPEN position. I can play anyone, but playing a QB there makes the most sense.

You are talking about potential so is this dynasty, redraft?  On the surface I like Carr more than Snead and think you are just helping out the other team giving him a viable QB2 option for one of his backup WR.  Carr is a young but already proven QB.

No. Not a dynasty league. I just think he will continue to do well this season. I'm also not using Carr this year except for byes or in case of injury. Do you see it as unwise to not have a solid 3rd option? Also do you see Snead helping my team?

I think it's a trade that helps both of you.  You don't need Carr, Wentz should be fine to fill in on byes, and Snead gives you a better 3rd WR option for flex/byes/whatever.  It gives him a 2nd QB to use at the superflex position.  I'd do it.

Wait a minute...I retract my previous post.  I missed the fact that you have Cobb on your bench already.  Snead is less important to you then.  Keep Carr.

Yes I've decided I've got to play Diggs until Cobb starts producing again. So I'm guessing you don't think Snead is worth losing a solid QB on my bench.

While we're at it, who should I stick in my flex spot this week?

I should also mention there is a guy in my league with A Robinson, Abdullah and Dak Prescott. If I could give him Carr, Diggs and Theo Riddick then I pick up Wentz and Gio (for nothing), how would I fare in that deal?

I think Snead doesn't help that much because he'd be your 4th WR.  Ultimately we're talking about you acquiring a WR that you'll likely never start (except maybe for byes), for a QB that you know you'll have to start twice.  I think Wentz will be serviceable to cover two byes, if you'd rather have Snead as WR depth then make the trade, it certainly won't hurt your team.  I just don't think it'll help a ton either.

The more I think about this though, the more I think that since the other owner only has 1 QB and could be starting two, the more I think you might be able to get something more than Snead from him.  I'd try to do something like Carr + Cobb for Cooks or Dez...he may not be interested in paying much for a 2nd QB since he probably only drafted one but in my experience if you can start 2 QBs and you leave the draft with Rivers as your only one, you messed up.  If you could pull off that trade then that would create you a roster spot as well.

I would rather see you use Carr in a deal to target Landry or Parker even if it's say Carr plus a WR for Landry let's say.

I think he would trade me either Landry or Parker for Carr straight up. Is it nuts that I'm higher on Snead though than those two?

I think that's nuts.  Landry is a proven solid WR and I would go that route.  Parker was a high draft pick who has been continually hurt but has put up nice numbers when he plays.  I would probably look at it this way: Landy is Miami's WR1 and Parker WR2.  Snead is the Saints #2 and Thomas who is at present #3 looks like will be pretty good.  Landry as Miami's WR1 seems like the best option to me.

No... QBs are falling like flies.... you might really need Carr and you already have a lot of good potential with the WRs you have.

The more I think about the more I wonder if I should just stay pat. If either Cam or Palmer get hurt I'll have really screwed myself over. At least with Carr I'll still have an option that's pretty solid. And I'll feel better about bye weeks.

I was VERY close to getting him to give me Hopkins for Carr and Cobb but he eventually decided against it. I also offered the same deal with Carr and Diggs but still no go. It seems lopsided but once he replaces Landry with Derek Carr I think that makes up for the difference between Diggs and Hopkins but oh well!
