Should there be a Men's Rights movement? (1 Viewer)

I'm so recently-tanked I actually thought "Jackstraw" read "Strawman."

No bull, eh?

Not an MRA'er nor a pick-up artist, but certainly not a feminist here. Count it and the foul.

I agree with the idea of a "mens rights movement" but the reddit group (reddit.com/r/mensrights) are too bitter and too women-hating for my tastes. It's similar to radical feminism actually. I agree with most of feminism's points, but there are too many man-haters for me to take it seriously.

Is this the "a girl beat me up" thread?
I dunno, when you have a good friend wake up with a girl on his #### and he's tremendously upset about it, then you can comment.
What the hell are you talking about?
You went with an anecdotal requirement for the thread, so I one-upped it. Is your own language and requirement confusing?

Look, you ask for anecdotes, you've got them.

Are you too dense to get that? Because I had two friends in college wake up with rapists on their hombre, son.

All of history has pretty much been a Men's rights movement.
Going from one extreme to the next isn't the right move either.

It seems that is how we do things around here.

The middle ground is a nice place, we should try to go there more often.

Get back to me when the pervasive view, in society and the law, is men are essentially property for their wives to do with as they please. Or when men are having their sex organs mutilated and being committed to institutions because they are depressed. Then we will have swung from one extreme to the other.

Did you miss the part where he asked for middle ground?

We're men. We move wherever the #### we want to move. If a woman is suppressing you, that's your own damn fault.

No I didn't miss what you said. But here's the thing whiny. We aren't even close to middle ground now. And all this stupid mens right talks is just code for we want the 50's back. Well that ship sailed so get over it.

Didn't the economy improve by 20 percent from the 50s to the 70s? Read that somewhere, just curious.

Anyways, I would say we are passed middle ground and women definitely have an advantage over men and unless people speak up about it and complain it will only get worse.

Middle ground please, that means we as a society don't give women a pass for molesting a boy when they are a teacher.

That means we as a society don't always let women win every divorce.

That means we as a society don't laugh at men that get raped

etc

No we need more men to be feminists because when we support women on the issues that really matter, we have trust and credibility to call bull#### on the rare outliers.

Those women go to jail who have sex with a 17 year old boy some of us would say he was within his rights to get some why do you hate men? I know plenty of men who "won" their divorce maybe get better lawyers. And very few men get raped. According to the CDC the number is less than 5% men raped by women. Male on male rape is too under reported to get good numbers but it happens. Now on the other hand 20% of women have been raped or attempted to be raped by men.

Being a white man in the USA in the year of our lord 2015 has to be one of the toughest existences in the history of civilization. How much more are we supposed to take!?

ETA: Excuse me for a moment, the Roomba is stuck. I'll save the can't find a good robot anymore gripe for another time.

White men are the last group you can openly mock without fear of a special interest group attacking you. Let's keep it this way.

I can barely stand the burden.

I don't see the problem "with a little tap on the beak!"" when your woman gets out of line. An open hand shows restraint, and that your are still a gentleman when disciplining your woman. Spare the rod and all that stuff! Amirite?

So what 'rights' do men not have that they should? Does someone want to step up and write a manifesto of some sort? Should be pretty lolzy.

Good point.
Like headaches and who controls the remote.

  • That paternity be routinely established using DNA testing.
  • That an established paternity automatically enable the same rights and responsibilities as an established maternity.
  • That the default arrangement after a separation be joint legal and physical custody of any children; only to be changed if the parents voluntarily decide to do so, or if one of the parties be determined unfit to be a parent by a court of law.
  • That women’s shelters receive no government grants unless they are transformed into human shelters, where all victims of domestic violence can get the help they need (women, men, children).
  • That all human shelters be run professionally, under the same strict standards as those of other social services.
  • That the military be staffed by people who apply voluntarily, and who receive a fair and reasonable compensation for the risks they assume.
  • That conscription be used only for extreme reasons of national safety, and that such a measure be gender neutral.
  • That the principle of “innocent until proven guilty” be upheld at all times, including allegations of rape or sexual harassment.
  • That gender research be as free from ideology as any other academic field.
  • That male expendability be recognized as a major gender issue.
  • That boys be allowed to be proud of their coming manhood.
  • That schools recognize the needs of boys and the learning styles of boys, so as to give them a fair chance of performing well.
  • That men’s groups be given the same legal and practical opportunities as women’s groups to obtain funding.
  • That male sexuality be portrayed in a positive and encouraging manner.
  • That male circumcision only be legal for adults who voluntarily choose this kind of surgery.
  • That prisons be organized in such a way as to prevent rape and other forms of assault.
  • That meritocracy be the governing principle in the labor market, and that all forms of affirmative action and gender quotas disappear.
  • That misandry be opposed just as vehemently as misogyny.
  • That all legislation discriminating against men be made gender neutral or removed.
  • That the historical sacrifice of the male gender role be recognized to the same extent as the historical sacrifice of the female gender role.

I like how it's somewhere between 2 and 40% of rapes that are false.

That just screams scientific to me.

What whiny tool writes this crap? And even more than that what whiny tool thinks it sounds good?
:lmao:

So perfect that j offer and Peyton Marino came in and gave us their views on the matter. As always, they added to the discussion as much as Eminence.

eta* And, oh yeah, there is indeed a need for a men's right's movement just based on the posters to the contrary. Let us let NCCommish and a bunch of feminists determine our fate in the courts. That'll work. Argle Bargle.

Because when the judge gives the woman default custody even though the child has slept in the bed every night until she was three, the wife never has sex with the husband, and then the woman spoils the child against her own father -- including and up to telling her she is in a special coven of withces -- until the child is miserable to him and his family, then yeah, I think it's time to re-think the default position.

Because when someone is on campus and they're kicked out for drunken sex due to federal Title IX regulations that place default blame *of retrospective rape claims * on the man, there certainly is a need for a stronger women's movement on campus, at least, if not government agency and legislation.

Jeez, started to think the temperance movement died or something. Hallelujah! It's back for all of our own good!

Serious question, how exactly were your friends raped?

Hard-ons while passed out drunk. One got raped by a campus feminist who no longer was one after it happened.

The other was my [ ] -- can't reveal that, but we were close -- he was a good-lookin' kid, as Damone from Fast Times would say. I'd tell more, but really, it's not my place. I don't know why I got sucked into the anecdotal nature of this.

Neither lodged a complaint.

This is very true.

eta* Whoops. That sounds like he was my boyfriend or something. That's inaccurate. Sheesh.
