Should this bother me? (1 Viewer)

Although I am also bothered by the fact that my wife seems flippant to the comment.
your wife had a reason why she told you this comment
This encounter made her uncomfortable and/or she doesn't like this couple. She wants you to end the relationship with this other couple, this way she gets the result she wanted without having to be the bad guy.

Why weren't you there if spouses were welcome?
Wife's parents and aunt were in from out of town. There was a family gathering planned at SIL's house. I had to take our two kids, aunt, and in laws to family gathering. Wife couldn't attend because of the family gathering.
There's a lot of fail in that paragraph, how the #### does this happen? What kind of "function" did she attend that she couldn't skip on a Sunday while her parents were in town? And she goes out drinking after said function instead of meeting you at her family's party? That's some bull#### I wouldn't be shoveling.

Not that it matters really, but it was a benefit raising money for charity, and it was on Saturday. And I'll say it again, I'm not worried about my wife. I just don't think a man should should make this type of comment to another man's wife. It might be okay if this were my best friend who I have known for 20-30 years. I known this guy, but I don't know him that well. Met him within the past year.

And even if it's a joke, I just don't think it's funny. I would never say that to another man's wife. Especially someone who I do not know all that well.

Sounds to me like the guy knows your wife better than you think he does.

I agree with Billy Bats, sure your wife had to go to the function, but she certainly didn't have to go back to their place for drinks and ravenous sex.
