Should we still doubt Cleveland's Offense? (1 Viewer)

It seems most on here have been sceptical that the Browns put up their numbers on a Bad Bengal Defense. Now that they put up good numbers on the Ravens Defense are you leaning towards them being viable Starters from here on out?

I'm speaking of Edwards, Winslow and Lewis as a RB2.

If you haven't noticed, Derek Anderson has been sacked 2 times in 120 Pass Attempts. The Offensive Line is actually good in Pass protection. He wasn't even hit today against the Ravens. It sounds funny to say, but if the game wasn't out of hand in the 4th quarter, Edwards and Winslow would've both had 100 yards and Derek Anderson might have had his 2nd 300 yard game.

Thoughts on them going forward?

It looks pretty promising. The line is gelling, and offense is coming together. If Anderson continues to play like this he will probably start for the remainder of the season. That means keep Edwards in your top 12 WRs and Winslow in your top 3 TEs. Jamal Lewis is a legitimate RB2 if your league is 10 teams, and a very solid RB2 if you are in a 12 or more team league.

The Ravens pass D has been shaky all year. Cincy, Arizona (well Kurt Warner) and now Cleveland have all passed all over them. Even Kellen Lewis did alright with the Jets. Not sure if passing on them is the same as in years past. I still like Cleveland's passing game though. Anderson has a big arm, they should be trailing in games more, so passing more, and Braylon is breaking out.

Im worried the Browns will try to force in Brady Quinn at some point, which in turn will lower Edwards, Winslow, & Lewis' values.

But right now they do look good

Potential is there, but I would not make too much out of them doing well againt the Ravens. They have been middle of the road at best, and very torchable, vs. the pass this year. Edwards play was sick - how can I guy get that open?

I may be a fan, but I've been saying all along, this team has talent. The O-Line is starting to play fantastic football, especially that left side and now Fraley at center is really playing well. With Ryan "Mother" Tucker coming back next week, it won't be any worse. It all starts up front, on offense, the Browns are controlling the line of scrimage, on D, they aren't controlling anything. Winslow and Edwards are playing great football, making plays on even terrible throws.

If they are winning why would they bring in a rookie QB? Doesn't matter who his name is.

Were people really doubting the Browns offense in terms of fantasy? Winslow was a top TE last year and was projected to be this year. Edwards was projected to be a great WR this year, capable of the legendary 3rd year breakout, and so far he has surpassed expectations. Jamal is a solid RB2/RB3, slightly above projections. These three have pretty good fantasy value, as was thought to be the case.

The real difference is that somehow the Browns are winning games!

It's all there now. The problem the past few years has been QB, OL, and injuries to playmakers Kellen and Bray. The OL is playing very good, the playmakers are just that (Chud and his offensive system deserve some props here too, to quote KWII, "he's a genius"), and QB has performed well probably because of the other factors. I didn't even mention JLew, who looks real good running the ball.

I'm thinking 3-3 into the bye, and the post-bye schedule is NOT all that bad. I expect the defense to improve a little bit, and this is looking like an 8-8 or 9-7 team. No way Quinn sees the field unless Anderson gets hurt or they have meaningless games at the end of the year.

How did Winslow look?

Was he slow to get up on any hit or was he favoring that shoulder? His stats we obviously pretty nice.

I'm actually considering picking up Derek Anderson off of the ww, except that I'd have to dump Hasselbeck or Cutler. Anderson has two point more on the season than Peyton Manning and has only played 3.5 games.

Picked him up and will now be rotating with McNabb.

There were MANY people questioning them coming into this week. Most thought that the Cincy game was a Fluke in terms of their passing game.

I don't believe that Winslow or Edwards would be affected by a Change to Quinn in the Line-up. Actually, I think their numbers would IMPROVE with him in the Line-up. Derek Anderson, while palying well enough, is VERY Innacurate. he's barely hitting 50% of his passes and misses Wide open WR's all the time. I believe they would actually play better with Quinn at QB.

Just as a point to ponder, Braylon Edwards was targeted twice in the Endzone inside the 10 on fade patterns. On one of them, Mccalister made a very nice play, and on the other (He was WIDE OPEN), Anderson overthrew him. Those Red Zone targets become HUGE as the season goes on.

Winslow looked great. I was afraid they were just going to use him as a decoy with his shoulder hurting, but he was his usual physical self.. 97 yds and nearly scored a TD. Can't ever doubt the Souldja.

:excited: He is proving to be a pretty tough SOB.

He was a bull on his 40+ yard reception that he was finally brought down at the 2. The guy is some player....

Even Jamal Lewis put up respectable fantasy points vs. the Ravens rushing D.
Lewis got credit for a TD he didn't get and minus one big run was again unimpressive. I would like to have him as RB3 but no more and don't expect too much. And altho it's still kinda early, the passing game appears another story. I'm aiming for Anderson and might ditch Bulger to do it. What a bizarro year :goodposting:

I'm very encouraged, particularly since I have Edwards as my 4th WR.
He just vaulted himself into #2 for me. (maybe #1 if Javon stays down) The problem with this guy as a #4 is that you will only start him some of the time and miss some of these big games. Move some of that depth and rely on the kid. I was going back and forth between him and Coles and decided to just move Coles and rely on Edwards on a weekly basis....

Anderson has been a gunslinger for his entire career. He throws a lot of INTs but he also throws for a lot of yards.
Which is exactly why he won't be in much longer in my opinion. He's already had 4 INT's dropped by the other Team.

I assume you're a Ravens fan (Who else would own Boller?). Well, the last Time I checked, the Touchdown counted and he had 60 yards and a TD. In Fantasy that's all that matters. Maybe in your League that let you subtract big runs from your opponent's score?
