Should we try and sell OBJ and Antonio Brown this year? (1 Viewer)

If Ben decided to retire next year, where would we value Brown? Personally I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Brown perform at this uber elite level well into his 30s. But without Ben?

OBJ, too. I know these guys transcend the WR position, but what if either club faltered in getting a decent franchise QB for a few years?  Doesn't seem unreasonable. I thought Eli looked pretty bad last year.

I would love to hear people's thoughts on this. I'm still basically of the opinion that you would really have to knock my socks off to get one of these guys from me. But I'm thinking about shopping them.

I suppose Gronk and Michael Thomas fall in this group, too.

One of the better owners in my league sold AB before the draft to a team that's built to win now for T. Hill and 2 1's that became Hunt and OJ Howard. I think he's pretty happy right now

I would only sell brown and obj if I needed to get a lot better at RB and DJ, Bell or Zeke were in the deal. Brown is going to be okay without Big Ben because he is virtually uncoverable.

I'm worried about Gronk

Always is. But I'm not selling either just because their qb is getting older.
No way with OBJ. Eli isn't even good. Brown makes me a little nervous because I do think Ben and Brown have a special connection. However, I trust the Steelers organization to bring in a competent QB if Ben retires.

I agree with this.  Brown is a tad better than Beckham, but I think he is more QB-dependent than OBJ is.  Remember that brutal stretch in 2015 when Ben was out and Brown was putting up putrid numbers?

Weeks 4-7 which also include a game in which brown netted 60% of the passing yards from Landry Jones.

The concern is warranted but I'm just not selling the best player in the league (in my leagues which have wr heavy lineups and are ppr) because Ben might retire. If someone comes with a killer offer I'll listen.

Fwiw, I was offered OBJ and perriman for Antonio and McCoy. Rejected and while I'm contemplating a counter I'm not jumping into anything involving brown.

OBJ is only 24.  I wouldn't trade a WR that has had the success of OBJ at such a young age, regardless of the situation unless I was getting a young, proven stud in return.  AB is 29.  I think the time is now to cash in on AB if you are going to.  I think when people see the "30" next to his name along with any drop production, his value will start to fall.  I traded AB in 2 of 3 dynasty leagues.  The other, I couldn't get the value I wanted and the team is 100% win now so I held on to him.

In preseason I traded AB and Howard for Evans and Abdullah in PPR.  Took a perceived hit at RB to get younger, but this was also pre-RFA and draft and I didn't know what CHI was planning at RB so I felt like I was mitigating two risks at once.  I'm also very high on Abdullah in PPR.

in dynasty I'd consider selling AB. he's been pedestrian without big Ben.

OBJ I'd consider but likely not. I'd be more concerned about him going to a different team than Eli retiring... Eli moving on might be good for him. I'd probably hang onto him, but I imagine AB would get you a kings ransom. some great trade examples in this thread... everyone made out big

Seems like everyone wants to move Antonio in my leagues. Sold in 2 out of 4. And being shopped in a 3rd. Both times he was traded, he was traded light imo.

AB and to a lesser extent AJG are coming up on a precipitous drop in perceived value within the next year.  Once they hit that 30 mark the value will start falling fast, especially for AB with the QB uncertainty going forward.

In addition to that, their value is at much greater risk as any kind of off year at this age is going to utterly destroy their value.  A 24 year old can withstand missing 8 games to injury or a stretch of poor performance.  If a 30 year old does it their value tanks.
