Maybe he will also do a Garfunkel song.Picking a single Paul Simon song is a tough dilemma. I think @shuke did about as well as you can.
Levi Stubbs has an excellent voice and delivers every lyric with so much passion. This group had sooo many hits. Kudos to narrowing it down to one.shuke said:

Reaaly good!
Kinda early for a double, Bink...double for me.
Didn't you choose See the World from them early in the countdown? I swear I told my Bonnaroo story in regard to that song in this thread.

Love him hard. Saw him play at Martyr's in Chicago after release of his first record (2000-2001ish?). He wrote the songs on the first record when he was 17 IIRC, recorded it at 18, and was touring just after. He was incredibly mature in his sound and songwriting skill, as well as his live performance, as only a teenager! I've been hooked ever since. My favorites from the first record (Faces Down): Dead Passengers Mother Nature Sleep on Needles
Wow - really good!
I like discover'n local talent.313. EL VY - Return to the Moon
Also considered: Paul is Alive
I've gone back and forth a dozen times because I love both these songs.
EL VY is a between Cincinnati native Matt Berninger (lead vocalist of The National) and Brent Knopf (founding member of Ramona Falls and Menomena).
My two favs above.Scratched a ticket with a leg of a cricket
And I got triple Jesus
Cashed it in for a Siamese twin

Bought a saltwater fish from a colorblind witch
Cause she said she loved it

Take your pick from one of the othersHead out for the weekend. I'll have to make a replacement for my previous Gomez pick at spot 983.
Transmission by Joy Division is a good proxy, sound wise. I might even like it a tad better, a bit more raw and edgy.New Order Age of Consent is one of my favorite songs, but I need a replacement for that when my kids ask about my top tunes.
Not again...As we go lower in the count these are supposed to be getting better ...right?

Yes, I botched the name, it is Transmission (edited my post to correct).Track is Transmission, right? They do sound similar.

Dreams Never End from New Order is darn fine proxy too.
No need. Simon controls him.Maybe he will also do a Garfunkel song.
I enjoy Tiajuana Lady more than either, but all are fine songs. Get Myself Arrested also worthy of a listen.
Good call. So many great tunes to choose from.
revisiting ... popped up on my youtubez mix - best user comment evah: "my neighbors called the cops on me for playing this too low"
I love this song. This totally exploded radio back in '13 when it came out. Just insanely catchy, really well-written lyrics. Everything about this song was great.

Sweet. Our troop camped in Mammoth Cave National Park this weekend, but the actual outing was to the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green and then watching drag racing at Beech Bend. Loved not having to deal with any rain on a camp out for once, but it was 88 there yesterday. Last time I was in the gorge on a day like that it was brutally muggy. How did it turn out?Going to the gorge, actually. Going with my son's boy scout trip this weekend. Usually do that once a year and get down a few other times a year. Doing via ferrata, which is like rock climbing with rebar and cables.
Hope to see a couple more Wainwrights picked.413. Loudon Wainwright III - Bill of Goods
I had this on a mixed tape I made from CDs I borrowed from the library.
it was an uplifting story about Shuke's breakthrough. He had been previously stuck on 1,000 and didn't feel as though he could expand the list.I haven't read the thread because I know I will be disappointed at the explanation for drawing the line at 1003 instead of 1004.
See, what a let down.it was an uplifting story about Shuke's breakthrough. He had been previously stuck on 1,000 and didn't feel as though he could expand the list.
We're all quite proud of him.
