Shuke's 1400 favorite songs by 1400 different artists. (2 Viewers)

Oh yeah I know, we call it gorilla glue. Smoke it and you won’t ever be able to get off the couch.
Actually, I respond weird to weed - in part because of my natural chemistry - and this #### gives my energy and drive. I have another strain for my sleep time. I won't be going to bed for a few hours.

I may even do some housework if things slow down here.

Nice. I’m turning in in 20. I’ve got to get up in 6 hours for work and then deal with a long weekend of fun!

is fire when it's good
This is my first. Got 1 oz. Hope to get more next prescription.

more weed chat would be great for the board.
Yeah. lots of misinfo.

It ain't for everyone, but it is still way misunderstood, imo.

Needs a lot more official scientific and medical research done too. Find ways to make it most useful with the least side effects - same as any other med.

Recreational: I say treat it like alcohol. Risks may be there, but an adult can make decisions until they prove incapable of doing so responsibly - without harming others.

so many great ones to choose from, my particular favorite is a deeper cut from "Armed Forces"  ('79 may have been the greatest year evah for albums, imo) ... bonus for MoX - lyrics on screen ...

honorable mentions to:

this George Jones reworking, which has become my official Kentucky Derby song (what with the "Run For the Roses" shtick).

and a lush cover of a Dave Edmunds ditty which astutely spoke to a younger OTB's female fancies quite well

A quick google of "songs about cats" gave me only three top choices from the 70s:  (1) "Honky Cat" by Elton John, which no person would ever choose as their Elton John song; (2) "Cool for Cats" by Squeeze, but shuke already took "Tempted" by them earlier, and (3) my therefore-default answer, "Year of the Cat" by Al Stewart.
Cool for Cats  .

Love him hard.  Saw him play at Martyr's in Chicago after release of his first record (2000-2001ish?).  He wrote the songs on the first record when he was 17 IIRC, recorded it at 18, and was touring just after.  He was incredibly mature in his sound and songwriting skill, as well as his live performance, as only a teenager!  I've been hooked ever since.  My favorites from the first record (Faces Down):  Dead Passengers  Mother Nature  Sleep on Needles
I've settled in for my Friday evening with some wine and shuke's thread.  Looks like this was my last post here, meaning I have...ummm...15 pages and about 120 songs to get through.  No problem!

looking forward to plenty of comments and related stories - just opened a new handle of Seagrams VO bourbon and have plenty of diet coke.

This is a song I feel like I shouldn't still love, but I do.  Saw them in Chicago on the tour for that record, and it might have been the loudest show I've ever been to.  I was surprised they rocked so hard.

Good reminder to me that there's no good reason I haven't listened to a lot more of this band than I have.

Started playing this one and Mr. krista called out from the kitchen, "What's that?  Are you playing The Cure?"  Sounds just like The Cure.  I like The Cure.  This goes on my "check out more of their stuff" list.

Great band name.  Enjoyed the song a lot, too.  Probably would be even better if I smoked pot.

Did not enjoy the hair of anyone in this band.  Also not so much the song.

294. Charles Bradley - Changes

Confession time.  I had no idea this was a Black Sabbath tune until @mr. furley started a thread about it.
WOW.  That's a great cover, but even better is that guy's face.  I don't mean it's handsome, but it's compelling and endlessly fascinating.  Good call for them to have the video be just of his face.  I could watch it forever.  This is a great find.

Nice!  Rocks.  Happy to see this so high.

I clicked "quote" in order to say something here but then read further and saw that everything I would have said had already been covered.  Damn it.

HOLY ####!  No likes or loves or comments on this one?!?!  I was prepared just to say "great band name," but this is one my favorite new discoveries you've posted.  Love the organ.  Love the dancing.  Love the vibe.  This strikes me as a band that would be a huge blast to see live.  I'm going to look into it.

By the way, due to my tendency to use "?!?!" or "!?!?" so much in emails, a friend of mine years ago coined a term for each of those, dependent upon whether the question mark or the exclamation point came first.  Now I don't remember the terms, but believe me they were clever.  Believe me.  I'll have to ask him what they were.

I see Binky already linked the cover of Here Comes The Sun, which is my favorite, so I'll give you Strawberry Fields Forever instead.  God I loved this guy.

I just got finished with the Bebe Buell biography and she lived next door to Richie Havens for a time.  Talked about him being a very cool and inviting person - who always had great bud.

271. Nick Drake - Place To Be

Such a beautiful sound.  Such a tragic story.

Also considered: Northern Sky, Free Ride
I strongly considered him for one of my three guest picks.  My choice would be Time Has Told Me, but there are plenty of ways to go.  His singing and the feel of the songs are so beautiful that it seems some people overlook what a phenomenal guitar player he was.  My friends who are real musicians admire his style greatly.  This song showcases his guitar well.

Damn, to get to that link, I had to play the YouTube, and now I might just listen to this over and over again all night.  His phrasing is astonishing.  Now I'm sad.

Fist time ever hearing this- I like it
Aha!  I got it!  (Would have been much more impressive to have guessed it without googling "songs about cats," though.)

Quoting myself!  I always thought that the Damien Rice song "Delicate" sounded like a bit of an homage to "Time Has Told Me," at least in the guitar part.
