Shuke's 1400 favorite songs by 1400 different artists. (2 Viewers)

503. Men at Work - Overkill

I know Binky gets mad when I don't choose a band's most popular song, so I want to announce that I also considered: Down Under
Approve...of the song selection and making Binky mad.

502. John Mellencamp - I Need A Lover

This is an underrated rock song. Should be higher, but probably some body of work bias going on here since I'm otherwise not a huge fan.
meh...not much from John Cougar/Mellencamp excites me, but probably would have gone with Jack and Diane

501. Bobby Darin - Beyond the Sea

Just beautiful.  Doesn't hurt that it was used in two of my favorite movies, Goodfellas and Diner.
Great tune.  Also love If I were a Carpenter and I suppose, Mack the Knife could be in the conversation.

Meh...never heard it before; didn't care for it much.

Halfway!!!!

Great song.  IIRC @Nipsey did a terrific cover of it.

Agree with every bit of this.  I almost hesitate to say I like this song given most of his work, but this one is awfully good.

499. Turnpike Troubadours - Wrecked

I was going to note that while I'm not a country fan I still really liked this song.  But listening to it now, it's way too country for me.  Not sure how it got this high in the rankings.  Goes to show a lot of this probably had something to do with my mood and level of soberness at the time of ranking.

Was looking for a last minute replacement, but can't really justify dropping anything in from this point forward.

It's not bad, but sounds like a song one would like a lot better if drinking a whole bunch of beer.

Turnpike troubadours are one of my favorites right now.

Their writing provides some great imagery.

The Funeral is the never do well son returning home for his father's funeral.

Never actually been in a tornado but survived a couple hurricanes and the ever present Severe TStorm in the South. Tornado Warning presents a pretty good picture.

487. Styx - Come Sail Away

I was in New Orleans once for business.  It was for a convention so I saw some old buddies from a previous employer.  We were at a bar with a typical Bourbon Street cover band playing.  They didn't have a keyboard player but played this song anyway.  There was a keyboard on stage, though, and the lead singer played the part from 3:30 - 4:00, but only played two alternating keys with his forefingers the entire time.  It was horrible.  I laughed so hard I think I pissed my pants.
