Shuke's 1400 favorite songs by 1400 different artists. (1 Viewer)

I just laughed and laughed and laughed about Father John Misty's "Things It Would Have Been Helpful To Know Before The Revolution."

Holy bleak Kafkaian humor.

He strikes me as a total ####### but he’s talented and funny- in a bleak  Kafkaian kind of way.

Speaking of artists who are funny and we’ve been discussing, I listed to Freewheelin Bob today and I forgot how damn funny he was.

I just woke up from a six-hour sleep.  I can't really call that a nap since it's more sleep than I usually get in an entire night.  WTF.
Oh Lord, I took a three-hour nap today. I'm eating so much sugar and drinking so much coffee just hoping for the crash.

Editor's Note: All I'm getting is stomach issues.

Sorry to hear about the sleeping issues, that blows. What did you end up ordering for Dylan records? I got lost between the 3 threads the Dylan discussion spanned.

I tried to stalk rock last night so that I could anonymously send him a great Dylan record, but I was wildly unsuccessful.  Didn't get further than a first name.

So much in the way of Dylan. It was kind of like Ronda Rousey day. I bought Another side of Bob Dylan today at the record store. I couldn't help it. I ordered Freewheelin', and would have purchased that had they had it. I'm awaiting Freewheelin', Times, and Highway 61. I was supposed to stop at those but I think Apple Jack convinced me that '63-'66 need to be covered, so I'm thinking of Bringing It All Back Home in July and maybe Blonde On Blonde as a self-birthday gift in August.

Happy near Birthday, by the way. I assume you're CST, so it's an hour to go, right?

I've seen him in concert twice and he comes off as a pretentious #######.  But a pretty good song writer.

The former has prevented me from giving his more recent output a fair shake.

I’m EST so I suppose it’s now my birthday. Also AJ is right, those early Dylan albums before his accident are all essential.

That would have been cool as all get-out. I am sad you were unsuccessful. Teardrops. That was a nice thought to even have. I am actually easily stalkable, just not in a surprise kind of way, as my chemtrails are virtually undetectable. But I generally give contact info. to those I either like or that want an ear on the board.

Are you home from Europe, or how is this working? Your husband invited somebody over, so I am assuming you're home, but my assumptions are often so, so wrong.

That's right.  It always surprises me when I'm traveling through Detroit, which I do frequently, that it's in the Eastern time zone.  Seems like it should be Central.

Happy Birthday, IL80's!

I thought about asking MoCS, because I suspected he might have it, but that would have ruined the anonymity.  I suppose he would have kept the secret, though.

I'm back from Europe as of Thursday afternoon and thought my body clock had adjusted, but that six hours I just got might suggest otherwise.  When do you leave on your trip?

Thank you. Michigan is on the western edge of the time zone so it’s nice in the sense we get more daylight than most.

Also, do you have a gin of choice when doing GTs?

Heh. Yeah, he has my contact info. but not my address. I don't think anybody does.

I leave the fifteenth of June. Should be very interesting. I've never been gone from the States for any significant length of time since I was in high school. I wonder how I'll handle it.

That's a jamming intro, shuke, with a nice piano interlude. What is walpurgis? Is that like war pigs?

Oh, I see. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walpurgis_Night

Now that's some prog stuff.

162. Bob Marley - No Woman No Cry

Did anyone not have Marley's Legend CD in college?  Probably every party I ever went to played at least part of it.  I also had a roommate sophomore year that would basically play it on repeat all day long.

Some great memories with this song.

A few other songs I would've chosen ahead of this one (a great song) but I'm very happy to see the Lips on your list.
Me, too.  I'd probably have had something from the Soft Bulletin, but I have a soft spot in my heart for the Yoshimi songs, too.

161. Andrew Bird - Capsized

Also considered: Are You Serious
Smoked a lot of pot on my roofdeck in the late 90s and early 00s.  I never invited him over; the then-Mr. krista did.  Apparently this is a theme.

The part where you smoked pot with Andrew Bird
I didn't smoke pot with him; he smoked it at my condo.  A lot of it.  He's collaborated since the late 90s with Nora O'Connor, whom I mentioned earlier as being a friend who's toured with the Decemberists for years - she also has been part of Iron & Wine's touring band, won a Grammy as part of the Mavis Staples record that Jeff Tweedy put together, etc.  Nora was friends with everyone I knew, including the initial Mr. krista, so I got to know her, and at some point she also brought Andrew Bird into the mix when she started working with him on solo stuff and his Bowl of Fire band in the late 90s.  Among other times, we celebrated New Year's Eve 1998 at my place.

Awesome stuff.

Lol at "initial Mr. Krista"
